@GooseLoose1 nope. The vast majority of complaints online are ridiculous, with some bordering on sexist and misogynist (I don't want to reveal why because that would be a spoiler for the game).
Obviously, the game will have some issues, but the amount of hate for a game that has sold well and has some very good reviews is ridiculous.
Most of the complaints about this game I've seen online are nothing to do with the gameplay. People post a video of the game out of context and claim it is an insult to the character (even if the thing that happens matches their character in the comics).
I have barely seen anyone even mention whether the gameplay and rest of the story is actually good or bad. Such a over-the-top reaction from certain people judging a game they clearly haven't even played.
@Thoughts Firstly, we have barely seen any of the game. Secondly, there clearly are some changes and there would have to be considering the Switch doesn't have the same features as the DS.
@Thoughts Not every franchise needs to go crazy reinventing itself every few years. Considering we haven't had a proper Layton game for years now, it's not as if the formula has been used too much recently anyway.
It's a shame it's delayed but considering how I never expected another Layton game at all, plus I'd rather games launch in the best possible state, I'm definitely not going to complain about it. Still looking forward to it. Loved the Layton games growing up!
I think it will just tell an original story, but obviously based on the Link, Zelda, Ganon story that has been played out so many times now in slightly different ways.
I do think Breath of the Wild would be a decent starting point. The main plot isn't actually that long, and you have a clear aim "meet the champions and defeat Colamity Canon" that could quite easily be adapted into a film, alongside some really nice looking locations.
@NintendoWife Couldn't disagree more, and the changing tracks is an addition that most people really like. It adds a bit of variety and helps showcase even more of the cities in the Tour tracks, plus a few changes in older courses that helps them feel a bit more unique.
Surprisingly, Bowser's Castle 3. I am normally not a big fan of these older Bowser's Castle, but this one has been updated to make it so much more fun. Overall, this is a really strong final wave, especially the Spiny Cup.
@LikelySatan even at 4, you can teach a child lessons like they can't have everything they want. They might have a tantrum about it, but they'll get over it.
It's clearly similar but there are still a lot of differences. Looks a lot better and the amount of detail really makes the game feel more alive.
However, in general, how far can you get away from the New series for a 2D Mario platforming game? For this genre, there's not that much you can change.
Not much for me. The new Super Mario Bros game looks fun, and news about the MK8 DLC and Splatoon Splatfests is always welcome, but nothing else really interested me.
However, I am happy a lot of other people are looking forward to all the games mentioned!
What? They are doing what they've been doing since the start of the DLC - adding retro tracks that have appeared in Tour with a few changes, alongside a "new" track that was almost certianly designed for Tour, but often appears in the DLC first due to timings.
I personally love all the DLC, but they haven't changed their approach.
Looks like a fun track, plus the new characters are a very nice addition. I do wish we got infomation on a few more courses in this wave, but still happy with what we got.
Really loved the dungeons in Tears of the Kingdom. Whilst I enjoyed the Breath of the Wild ones, I had no idea which one is which after I finished playing. Thankfully, this will not be the case with TotK.
I think TotK does a brilliant job at mixing the new open world with the classic style of dungeon, making some interesting temples that are engaging and with some bosses that are fun to battle.
I don't think classic style dungeons will be gone forever, but I don't think they would have worked here and that is ok. Also, this new style of dungeon is shorter than many of the previous ones which for me, is a massive advantage. I have a tendency to get a bit bored of some of the classic style ones as they just go on for way too long haha.
@Chaotic_Neutral
Maybe because people don't agree with you? Not everyone has the same opinion that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is predatory. Personally, I think it is an extremely good deal considering how good MK8 is, plus how many tracks the booster DLC contains.
Can't see this selling well. It hasn't been received well already which is never a good sign, plus it seems to be quite a niche audience. Who is that desperate to play PS5 games on a smaller device within their own home, especially at the price this will likely be?
It really isn't difficult to play without paying. Haven't spent a penny on it yet have absolutely tons of characters, karts, and gliders. Maybe people just need to not let their children spend so much money, and adults learn that you don't need to buy everything a game tells you is available.
Felt this way about A Fixed Device. Not a clue how that was meant to be done, but sticking everything together and using the Ultra hand and Recall worked which meant I didn't have to give up with it.
As with most things in TotK, the shrines are a clear improvement on what was created in BotW
@UltimateOtaku91 Films come out on streaming much quicker than they used to. If you wait a few months, the price normally falls to a more reasonal amount.
@JoeSooper You are salty that millions of people are loving the Zelda franchise more than ever so you make up nonsense about the game being a copy and paste?
@Martijn87 That just isn't true. Plenty of big games get lower scores. It got a 10/10 score because they thought it was a 10/10 game, which they are allowed to think.
Well deserved. Probably would already say it's my favourite game ever. Just so much fun and so much to explore. I've already played for hours yet feels like I've only just scratched the surface.
@Nintendo4Sonic Didn't realise you had the one and only correct opinion.
You do realise it is possible for people to like something more than you do? I'm personally loving Tears of the Kingdom and would say it is likely going to be my favourite ever game.
I think MS is more likely to be sticking around because Xbox makes MS a lot of money, with revenue increasing in most areas of its gaming business recently. Why on Earth would Microsoft not stick around when Xbox continues to make them so much money?
I've got a lot of them. Too many to be bothered to go and count. I have enough that I always have at least one characters, kart, and glider in the top ranking for each course.
I have never spent a single penny on this game and have tons of the characters, karts, and gliders. You can very easily ignore the paid aspects of the game and have a good time with it.
I have got Netflix for a month or so occasionally and every time I question how on Earth it is so popular. Could barely find anything I had even an ounce of interest in watching.
I have Apple TV+ and it is really good. Haven't watched a bad show yet and I still have plenty more shows I am interested in. Would highly recommend
Completely disagree about London Loop. It's a fun course to play on and it is a fairly interesting route. The different laps mixes things up and there is enough variety across it to keep me interested.
I would definitely put it above Berlin Byways which definitely has less going on, apart from the last lap, but even then, London Loop is still better than it. In fact, I was probably quite bored of Berlin Byways towards the end of the 2nd lap.
So again, this boils down to "this isn't what I want" but you want to try to verify your opinion and make it more important.
Anyway, no point going around in circles. You aren't going to listen and I've had enough of listening to you making your opinion seem greater than it really is.
And there is no way to really gather how many people wanted DLC vs MK9. Some people wanted DLC and a lot of people are happy with the DLC we have. You might not be, but that doesn't matter.
Personally, if I don't like a game or TV show, rather than complain constantly, I just do something else because these companies aren't going to change/cancel the DLC just because I am not happy with it. Also, complaining constantly is never good for the people around you and tends to make them feel bad for liking it.
Are you speaking for everyone now? Plenty of people wanted DLC. I am happy with DLC.
The world doesn't revolve around you, no matter how much you want it to. Not everyone agrees with you. You don't have a full and complete understanding of what is going on at Nintendo, so please, please, stop acting as if you are the expert and that you are speaking on behalf of everyone.
And everything you just said boils down to "this isn't what I want". You can try to twist it into some sort of attack on the developers, but that isn't what you really saying. You aren't happy with this DLC, which is fine, but that doesn't mean the developers are lazy, no matter how much you want them to be.
And I would say this kind of demanding behaviour is entitled, but each to their own.
Not every game or every part of a game will be how you like it. That doesn't make something lazy. If it were in the same style as the rest of the game, the developers would need to put in even more time which would put pressure on them to release it by the end of 2023 so either they are overworked or the DLC is delayed. More work likely means the DLC becomes more expensive which many people probably wouldn't want to pay for, even if they are "better quality".
To cut a long story short, these decisions are a lot more complex than just "it is in a different style so it must be lazy".
Just because something isn't in the same style as in the base game doesn't make it lazy. Changes have been made between Tour and DLC. If they were lazy, they wouldn't have made those changes.

My ranking of these 8 would be:
1. Bowser's Castle 3
2. Rainbow Road
3. Rosalina's Ice World
4. DK Mountain
5. Madrid Drive
6. Rome Avanti
7. Piranha Plant Cove
8. Daisy Circuit
Re: Review: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass Wave 5 - A Good, But Not Great, Penultimate Lap
I really enjoy all these tracks, and would say these are some of the best Tour tracks! They are so much fun!
The new course is another great addition and all of the returning courses and really enjoyable.
Absolutely love this wave!

@samuelvictor
You uninstalled the DLC because the tracks were basic? Seriously?
You know what would be more lazy? Not having DLC at all, but including an extra 48 tracks with extra characters for just over £22 is hardly lazy.
Yes, they might be less detailed, but that doesn't make them lazy.
Really wish the world would move on from "I don't like it so it has to be lazy".
Personally, how much fun I had with them is what matters, and I had just as much fun with wave 1 as I did with wave 4.
