It’s a cute concept as per Nintendo but hearing coins as I fidget, trying to get to sleep is a no go for me!!!! It will of course sell like hot cakes and make a perfect collectors piece!
I actually think this could be for testing GameCube games. I know from emulators that these games can be tricky, socially when it comes to the mapping the controls and getting that really solid experience.
If that’s the case , then of course it would be epic and I imagine a superb launch feature for any new Nintendo hardware that might get announced……..
It is still amazing how many cross platform games are sold in higher numbers on Nintendo Switch. Of course there are more users due to the systems age, but what if also shows is that when games are cross platform, Switch is still the system of choice to buy for.
Nintendo would have to make a monumental c0ck up to get anything wrong with the Switch 2. It just needs to be a seamless transition that can even better handle more ports and it’s going to be another huge success.
On another note, what this update shows is how we should always take ‘rumours’ from these so called in the know folks with a huge pinch of salt. Many of them have zero inside knowledge but work on the basis of throwing out lots of guesses and then some occasionally hit - they then get lauded for being ‘well known insiders’.
Wait for the proper press releases and ignore the insiders because all they are are click bait artists making money from those who believe anything and everything that they type.
They are an investment regime. They invest, sell, invest somewhere else. It’s how it goes. Can’t say I am that worried about what the Saudis do in this regard anyway and the last thing gaming needs is for them becoming majority holders in a gaming company. They are already trying to take over the sporting world and don’t care about it apart from getting it done.
I would love to think we would hear something concrete this month but I have said for the past 3 years now that the Switch 2 will be announced in March 2025 and released holiday 2025.
I hope it’s sooner as if I am right, I think the big N are making a big mistake and will have lost the fervour around it.
Time will tell. But I’m ready for a Switch 2 and my wallet is ready to empty itself all over!!!
I think many people are excited but the longer it gets left, the less excited people will become.
I still have a feeling that it won’t be announced until March 2025, as close to end of financial year as possible for release holiday 2025. And by then, I am not at all convinced that it will still have the fervour of the original sadly.
With hardware sales dropping across the board, Nintendo are now getting to squeaky him time. If they wait until March 2026 which isn’t that unlikely, PlayStation will be ready for their next console and Xbox as well and Switch 2nis going to be hellishly underpowered. That didn’t matter so much with the original and let’s be honest, the pandemic made Switch an even bigger hit with everyone sat at home, but this time with so many handheld PC’s, Nintendo is going to face a bigger fight. We know that Nintendo fans will lap it up for 1st party games but will it have enough to make upgrading worthwhile.
Look at how many people still have PS4’s. The incentives to upgrade are smaller every ‘gen’ and the term next gen is outdated now anyway as each iteration is simply a small upgrade.
Nintendo will know their strategy but if they wait too long, they could make Switch 2 a really tough sell.
Incredible success. My concern now is how will the Switch 2 do? Hardware sales are dropping like a stone across all consoles now, so will the Switch 2 even be of interest by the time it releases? I can’t see it having the success of the original. Switch 2 is going to have be more than just a refresh and it will need extra grunt under the bonnet.
Being back compatible will be essential of course but how can they make it so it feels like a huge upgrade?
Touch times ahead for the console industry as more and more move to PC and handheld PC.
When Switch launched, they pretty much had the handheld market to itself but that won’t be the case this time around.
The phenomenal success of the Switch has been a joy to watch but ai fear the longer they wait with announcing Switch 2, the less likely it is to sell well outside of Japan.
Xbox is going 3rd party. There will be another console this year, the all digital Series X and a beefier Series S but that will be the end. They will focus on streaming apps for TV and streaming sticks. Game Pass is what they will focus on and they will try to push it on other platforms as well. Poor management for the last two generations means they have left the console field open for PlayStation and Nintendo. You will never see Nintendo first party IP on other consoles. I disagree with the notion that exclusives are bad. They breed competition. Xbox have totally made a mess of their console business. As for Xbox exclusives on Switch, let’s hope that waits until Switch 2. The last thing we need are more half ar3ex ports on an ageing machine.
They could go another year but I think they would silly to do so. I’ve already all but stopped using mine tbh and want new life. It’s still brilliant but I want more ports to take on the go and the recent Arkham collection showed just how old and tired the Switch is. It would be better to get a new model out sooner than allow the current model to peter out.
Anyone trying to spin this in a negative light really does need to give their head a huge wobble. For the game to be in the charts for as long as it has is insanely brilliant!!!
@Serialsid I just don’t see the Acti deal making enough of a difference. PS players will still play on PS. It any generate revenue but it’s not going to seek consoles or games.
@johnvboy it’s on course to overtake PS4 in US so they will get there I think. Xbox is losing ground. But then Xbox doesn’t even get advertised in the UK. Can’t recall last advert I saw tbh.
But Switch is still selling well for a nearly 7 year old system. PS5 will sell a crazy amount in its lifetime. Xbox is on its knees. I don’t even see the Acti/Blizzard deal making much difference to them now. The only way they could really get to the Game Pass subs they need is to put it on Switch as well. I play Switch and Xbox and Xbox looks like a floundering system.
Was okay. Sizzle reel was better than main event and for goodness sake why do we need to be patronised like that by Amber and Andrew? Really was embarrassing and please do not let them do another one!
I have said for so long this way of working is successful. In fact, in any business, if you have lots of departments working toward different goals, you will create division.
Department working together and for each other is always the right way to go.
I just hope that Nintendo sticks with the OLED screen for the new Switch but rumours seem to all suggest it may be an LCD screen which would be disappointing tbh.
Things I would want from next Switch -
8 inch OLED screen Better joy cons Backward compatibility
Not much to ask but along with more power, that would do me fine and dandy!

Basically like the Xbox insider programme then. Seems a good idea overall and be interesting to see what if means for NSO in the future
Hopefully even more games for us all to play!

Re: UK Charts: Unicorn Overlord Plummets As Familiar Faces Return To The Top
Those sales splits are laughable for Xbox. I mean truly terrible.
How anyone gives Phil Spencer any credit is beyond me.
Why they are even thinking of more hardware is beyond me. They are dead as a hardware company.
Just go 3rd party and move on Xbox.
Or rather that should be eXBox
Re: Rumour: New Report From Nikkei Corroborates 'Switch 2' Delay Into 2025
2025 could be risky. If they wait too long they will release something that potentially is way behind what else is out there.

@Baler Yeah. Doomed. Again. 😂

@DennisNOR There will be a new MK no doubt and along with the new Nintendo Switch.
MK8 will be back in the top 20 soon enough.

Starfield doing well still
Re: UK Charts: Mario Wonder Takes Bronze As Call Of Duty Makes Its Mark
People are buying CODMW 3.
It really is just DLC and not very good DLC either
Re: Talking Point: If 'Switch 2' Is Backwards Compatible, What Will You Do With Your Switch?
Nintendo are known for following up mega console success with a right royal cock up but surely, surely they have learned from the Wii U.
Not being backward compatible would be a huge error and akin to taking a gun and shooting themselves in the foot!
Next Switch will surely be backward compatible and still take cartridges.
They don’t need to change much at all.
I’d like 8inch screen.
Better joy con.
A bit more power.
They can’t get this wrong, they just can’t.
Re: Talking Point: If 'Switch 2' Is Backwards Compatible, What Will You Do With Your Switch?
I will likely pass mine on to my nephew tbh.
If the next Switch isn’t backward compatible it will be the Wii U again.
They would be stupidity.

With the next gen Switch, Nintendo need to announce it whilst on the crest of a wave and not wait for sales to dip.
They have a very fine line to tread!!!!
But if they get it right, the money will just keep on rolling in.
