Re: UK Charts: Zelda Echoes Last Week's Decent Performance

It is still amazing how many cross platform games are sold in higher numbers on Nintendo Switch. Of course there are more users due to the systems age, but what if also shows is that when games are cross platform, Switch is still the system of choice to buy for.

Nintendo would have to make a monumental c0ck up to get anything wrong with the Switch 2. It just needs to be a seamless transition that can even better handle more ports and it’s going to be another huge success.

On another note, what this update shows is how we should always take ‘rumours’ from these so called in the know folks with a huge pinch of salt. Many of them have zero inside knowledge but work on the basis of throwing out lots of guesses and then some occasionally hit - they then get lauded for being ‘well known insiders’.

Wait for the proper press releases and ignore the insiders because all they are are click bait artists making money from those who believe anything and everything that they type.

They are an investment regime. They invest, sell, invest somewhere else. It’s how it goes. Can’t say I am that worried about what the Saudis do in this regard anyway and the last thing gaming needs is for them becoming majority holders in a gaming company. They are already trying to take over the sporting world and don’t care about it apart from getting it done.

Re: Talking Point: After A September No-Show, Will There Be An October Nintendo Direct?

MjJmediablogger

I would love to think we would hear something concrete this month but I have said for the past 3 years now that the Switch 2 will be announced in March 2025 and released holiday 2025.

I hope it’s sooner as if I am right, I think the big N are making a big mistake and will have lost the fervour around it.

Time will tell.
But I’m ready for a Switch 2 and my wallet is ready to empty itself all over!!!

Re: Surprise Surprise, Devolver Digital Is Excited For The 'Switch 2'

MjJmediablogger

I think many people are excited but the longer it gets left, the less excited people will become.

I still have a feeling that it won’t be announced until March 2025, as close to end of financial year as possible for release holiday 2025. And by then, I am not at all convinced that it will still have the fervour of the original sadly.

Re: Rumour: Game Developers Supposedly Told Not To Expect Switch "Successor" In Current Financial Year

With hardware sales dropping across the board, Nintendo are now getting to squeaky him time. If they wait until March 2026 which isn’t that unlikely, PlayStation will be ready for their next console and Xbox as well and Switch 2nis going to be hellishly underpowered. That didn’t matter so much with the original and let’s be honest, the pandemic made Switch an even bigger hit with everyone sat at home, but this time with so many handheld PC’s, Nintendo is going to face a bigger fight.
We know that Nintendo fans will lap it up for 1st party games but will it have enough to make upgrading worthwhile.

Look at how many people still have PS4’s. The incentives to upgrade are smaller every ‘gen’ and the term next gen is outdated now anyway as each iteration is simply a small upgrade.

Nintendo will know their strategy but if they wait too long, they could make Switch 2 a really tough sell.

Re: Switch On Track To Surpass PS2's Lifetime Sales In The US

MjJmediablogger

Incredible success. My concern now is how will the Switch 2 do? Hardware sales are dropping like a stone across all consoles now, so will the Switch 2 even be of interest by the time it releases? I can’t see it having the success of the original.
Switch 2 is going to have be more than just a refresh and it will need extra grunt under the bonnet.

Being back compatible will be essential of course but how can they make it so it feels like a huge upgrade?

Touch times ahead for the console industry as more and more move to PC and handheld PC.

When Switch launched, they pretty much had the handheld market to itself but that won’t be the case this time around.

The phenomenal success of the Switch has been a joy to watch but ai fear the longer they wait with announcing Switch 2, the less likely it is to sell well outside of Japan.

Re: Microsoft To Share "Vision For The Future Of Xbox" Next Week

MjJmediablogger

Xbox is going 3rd party. There will be another console this year, the all digital Series X and a beefier Series S but that will be the end. They will focus on streaming apps for TV and streaming sticks.
Game Pass is what they will focus on and they will try to push it on other platforms as well.
Poor management for the last two generations means they have left the console field open for PlayStation and Nintendo.
You will never see Nintendo first party IP on other consoles.
I disagree with the notion that exclusives are bad. They breed competition.
Xbox have totally made a mess of their console business.
As for Xbox exclusives on Switch, let’s hope that waits until Switch 2. The last thing we need are more half ar3ex ports on an ageing machine.

Re: Talking Point: Could Nintendo Go Another Year Without A Switch Successor?

MjJmediablogger

They could go another year but I think they would silly to do so. I’ve already all but stopped using mine tbh and want new life. It’s still brilliant but I want more ports to take on the go and the recent Arkham collection showed just how old and tired the Switch is. It would be better to get a new model out sooner than allow the current model to peter out.

Re: Talking Point: If 'Switch 2' Is Backwards Compatible, What Will You Do With Your Switch?

MjJmediablogger

Nintendo are known for following up mega console success with a right royal cock up but surely, surely they have learned from the Wii U.

Not being backward compatible would be a huge error and akin to taking a gun and shooting themselves in the foot!

Next Switch will surely be backward compatible and still take cartridges.

They don’t need to change much at all.

I’d like 8inch screen.
Better joy con.
A bit more power.

They can’t get this wrong, they just can’t.

Re: Valve Announces Steam Deck OLED, Says Switch OLED Paved The Way

MjJmediablogger

I just hope that Nintendo sticks with the OLED screen for the new Switch but rumours seem to all suggest it may be an LCD screen which would be disappointing tbh.

Things I would want from next Switch -

8 inch OLED screen
Better joy cons
Backward compatibility

Not much to ask but along with more power, that would do me fine and dandy!
