Labo wasn’t for everyone. How I see it is Nintendo took an innovative approach with something as dull as cardboard and managed to successfully incorporate into their gameplay. The thing to keep in mind is Nintendo is a business who’s core target is the Family. Labo might not be for the most hardcore of us however they managed to get kids and families playing their games buy building cardboard peripherals. Definitely nothing revolutionary but no one had every applied cardboard as a gameplay mechanic before. A lot of families got value just out of spending time together while building those Labo kits, it’s almost priceless when u look at it from that perspective.
@Rainz Yeah I guess if you look it that way it could be nice but there are much better things to build with your family than overpriced cardboard gimmicks tied to a console. There are many awesome 3D puzzles or fantastic model kits.
You do not have to be a hardcore gamer to see that. But then again, it is only my view
The "D" Pad, the analog stick (Im in the US) and stupidity (relating to not rereleasing IPs like F-Zero in an environment that transfers to each new generation of console.
Yeah, if some want to spend money on folding cardboard to go with a game, @Zuljaras .... I don't mind
It is an innovation, which is what the topic is about
@BruceCM Maybe my biased opinion on LABO is why I do not consider it an innovation (otherwise they would have continued its development) and nothing will be inspired by it as we move closer and closer to VR.
You know one “innovation” that is truly Nintendo’s?….game delays! They’ve damn near mastered it! However it’s usually always in the best interest of the gamer…like that classic Miyamoto quote “A delayed game is eventually good , a bad game is bad forever!” ..can’t argue against that kind of logic. Devs should almost live by that motto!
Wow never even heard about this console! That’s really cool to know, thanks for sharing. That console belongs in a museum. Nintendo didn’t create everything in the industry but they have done well commercializing features that others may have failed at.
Also, I’ll have to look into it but Nintendo may have been the 1st to introduce a female heroine as a Stand-alone IP (Samus Aran from Metroid) only other one that I can think of that may predate Samus is Ms Pac-Man ?
