Just started playing this game and I'm loving it! I'm pretty early on, I've just done the first four plays, but first impressions are great. Can't wait to play more.

I'm about halfway through the game I think so I may finish next weekend. It's rare for me ro rush through to 100% a game but I am just obsessed with this game. It's so fun and adorable. And despite a couple quibbles like the PowerPoint frames per second loading screens and the fact that they don't let you skip much when replaying a level to find collectables, it's honestly a remarkably polished game. So many nice little features.

The main challenge for me has come from my desire to constantly take screenshots while I'm playing.

Absolutely delightful.

With collecting the sparkles, I think they've got the balance right. You need a certain amount to get through the game, so there is incentive to collect them, but if I want to go back and experience the game again in the future I can go back and get them all.

I like how they iterate on the levels that first introduce a costume. The second wild west level I thought was great fun. Not every game needs to be challenging.

FishyS

@Uncle_Franklin I've been obsessively getting all the ribbons and sparkles as I go. I think I've 1-shot 3 levels, with some other levels taking me 4 or 5 attempts such as the one really hard baking section. Not including the rehearsal challenge levels... I think the second floor rehearsal took me at least 20 tries.

Just finished the game tonight. It was pretty fun but I think they really dropped the ball with making the levels replayable and fun to go for 100% completion. Going through a whole level again, especially when they can feel a little slow at times, just to find that one sparkle I missed, is a bit too tedious for my taste. If I could just replay smaller segments of levels and quit once I found what I was looking for then I probably would have tried to find everything.

@BenAV I've been going through every level over and over again to get 100%. Although for the most part I don't mind since most levels you can zip through pretty fast once you know them, I wish they let you skip all cut scenes (I don't know why some cut scenes were skippable with plus and most weren't). Also, being allowed to start in each major scene would have been nice or at least before versus after the transformation scenes. Having 2-4 Scenes in an Act is standard so seemed like a lost opportunity not to break it up that way for replaying.

So I want to ask about this game.
Are the job connected to the storyline which means you cannot change into another job during the mission or you can change into another job anytime like Dressphere Change in FF X-2?

Anti-Matter

FishyS

@Anti-Matter I haven't quite reached the end, but basically it is a series of theatre plays. You are forced to wear the outfit that goes with the particular play.

The only clothes changes you can do yourself is change the style of your 'default' pink dress when you are not wearing a different costume, such as when you are in the lobby between plays. That doesn't do anything, purely visual.

Aw... Okay.
I thought it will be fun if we can change her job during the showtime but I guess her job has her assignment and her appropriate skills to clear the stage.
You will not using her job as Baker when performing Ice skating or using Detective job when performing stealth attack Ninja performance.
Got it.

@FishyS

She does have some non-pink dresses.

@BenAV

The issue I have is that you try to explore, and often accidentally go onto the next segment before collecting everything. This happens occasionally in quite a few games, but nowhere near as frequently as with Showtime. I think it's the biggest con of the game.

Just got to the credits after 100%-ing the stages and rehearsals. Such a good game. I am kind of shocked by the amount of post-game goals though. Not totally sure I want to do it now because I am quite satisfied with my playthrough, but it may be fun to come back to later.

Been playing for a couple days now, and I think the game just isn't really for me.
I wouldn't call any of it bad per se, but I don't feel particularly motivated to play really. Not in the same way as a Mario or even Kirby game. I can't exactly put it into articulate words. It's cute, and there are some fun aspects of the different costumes, but that's really about it. I guess I'm just a bit confused why this game was dialed back for younger kids despite the fact that most other Nintendo games are perfectly accessible by young children already. Everything just feels so linear, simple and small scale. I want to reiterate that I don't find any of it bad, just fine. It's a cute little game, meant for little kids and I'm happy that Peach finally gets a new standalone game since the DS days. I guess I just wish there was a little more, you know? I don't know, maybe I'm missing something. (Also, I agree with peoples gripes about 100% completion. Replaying a level all over again just to try and get one missing collectible just doesn't seem worth it to me.)

Idealism and realism are only a few letters apart, it's a fine line between the two. One must be careful not
to step too far on one end, as it could very easily throw the other off balance.

@Novamii The 100%-ing gets worse. After you 100% the main game the post-game opens up even more collectibles in every level. 😝

Obviously not everyone likes every game, but I don't really quite get the 'made for kids' complaints a lot of people throw out. Some of the levels are actually pretty challenging (not hard hard but hard by e.g. Kirby or Yoshi type standards) and since the main purpose of the game is quite literally a performance.. I feel like kids wouldn't even notice the millions of clever theatre references and subtle but amazing animations. I suppose like many Nintendo games, the real audience was 'kids plus parents'. There is definitely a feel of 'you are just going along for the ride in something that almost feels like a visual novel (but in very interactive play form)'. But I feel like a lot of the most popular AAA games with zillions of cut scenes have a similar feel and those are rated towards adults.

I wonder if adults like or dislike this game more or less depending on their experience or interest in traditional theatre... It made me wonder since a lot of the positive reviews have mentioned their own theatre backgrounds.

Regardless, GotY for me so far. I wish everyone else loved it as much as I do because I really want more games like this.

@FishyS Fair enough, I have plenty of games that resonate with my middle-school band times, so more power to them. There's nothing wrong with games on a more subdued or smaller-scale adventure, it just takes a certain wow-factor (That one sort of spark that really resonates with someone.) to really sell me on them. Everyone has their own personal wow-factor, and is inspired by different things. I'd never discredit anyone's personal enjoyment from a game, there just wasn't really one for me. I guess you could kind of equate that to theatrical performances in a way. Those that get it, REALLY get it, and those that don't, think it's fine. A lot of effort, talent, and love absolutely. Just not really their thing. (Maybe someday I'll have more experience with that sort of thing, and finally understand that perspective, for now though, I just find it fine.)

Birthday was the other day, and my brother gave me the game as a gift! Interestingly enough, it's an "import" copy. It says Middle East and Southeast Asia on back, but opening it up it was a US cart of the game, complete with "USA" and the ESRB rating on the label, despite the box lacking any (honestly, it looks cleaner without the ESRB rating). I know the Switch is region free, still interesting seeing another region using US carts.

So unique case I guess. As for the game, I'm loving it so far. Beat the first boss, Disco Wing, tonight. Even went back to the first level to try and find all the "sparkles" (I'm calling those big stars, sparkles). Cowgirl Peach was fun, lassoing barrels into enemies. Ninja Peach took me a few tries, still ended up being fun.

Oh, that's MDE region.
MDE region is provided from South East Asia territory with logo Green Blue Grey color on the cover.
It started from 3DS era with MDE logo in front but for Switch it placed behind.
My New 3DS XL USA I bought on 5 February 2017 was MDE Region that still counted as USA region.
I have ever got Switch games in Asia English region like FF X/X-2, World of Final Fantasy Maxima, etc without age rating symbol, the cartridge sticker mentioned ASI as Asia region and the games have English language by default. Same case also happened on PS3 - PS5 games which counted as Region 3.
The Asia region have 3 different age rating symbol.
First is No age rating at all.
Second, it used numbers 0+, 6+, 12+, 15+, 18+ like PEGI system.
Third, it used 4 different Chinese words that basically said the age rating Everyone, Everyone 10+, Teen and Mature like ESRB style.
