@HeadPirate i don't think that's the case (at least . Nintendo had been the only one of the big 3 to not censor third parties. Wi5h Furukawa even going on record condemning censorship. (And the switch getting uncensored versions of many games that get censored on playstation).

I'm guessing this might be some type of issue ok the publisher side.

Unless there's a patch changing the localization, I'm not picking this up.

@Trikeboy how hard is it to grasp that Censorship AS A CONCEPT is a bad thing?

we've already seen where this road leads with Sony.
when they moved the Playstation HQ from Japan to California, they started enforcing heavy censorship of sexual content in games, but ONLY affected Japanese games, it started with graphical changes here and there, but eventually resulted in killing the Senran Kagura franchise because, as the creator of the series said himself "It would've been impossible to release the original vision of the game with the current regulations"). MIND YOU, many of the games that had been censored didn't even feature frontal nudity (as that's not even allowed in japan due to the law) and many had already been rated and approved by the ESBR and equivalent Age-Rating boards and released in their original state in other platforms including the Switch.

Another example is what happened with Skull Girls, a game that used its sex-appeal as part of it's identity (down to the point they had Zone, an actual pr0n Animator invited to work on the game), suddenly releasing an update that removed much of its original art making it completely inaccessible (Including in a digital artbook). and you can't even get a refund if you disagree with these alterations to a product you bought and had no say in.

It'd be one thing if they made these changes an optional toggle. that way, you actually treat your costumers like adults and let them chose for themselves what they deem appropriate, but It's really disheartening to see people with this sheepish "eh, the thing being censored isn't something I like so who cares?" mentality.

and just like that, these scumbags have guaranteed I will not only not buy this game, but NOTHING from that company. Censoring a game through a patch is unacceptable.

Well, when you're writing team despises the source material and your star who wanted to make a faithful adaptation leaves because of it, it's no surprise it's gonna end just like that.

I'll have to wait and see. I'm glad he likes the Vita (cuz Sony absolutely shat on suck a great console), I'm just always gonna be skeptical about someone coming to Nintendo from Sony. I already have my issues with the Localizers on NoA, and seeing what Sony has become in the current generation, the last thing I want is to Nintendo to become like them.

Honestly, if they play their cards right and stay humble (as in, not sh*ting on fans and actually giving people what they wanna see), there's definetly potential!

@Anti-Matter mate, considering Jegf has already revealed that the movie is based on SA2 and Shadow the Hedgehog. And that the actress for Maria made that joke of taking a photo with the backwards hoodie looking like a body bag. This might not be for you (though it's exactly what most fans want and I can't wait to see it).

That's a good attitude to have.

I'm in a bind here, the game DOES look interesting, but I was seeing some examples of the changes made in localization and... well, let's just say I'm not impressed.

Warren Spector wanted to go a lot darker with much more interesting ideas but Disney chickened out.

I might give this a go. first person game aren't usually my cup o' tea, but I heard good things.
(also I remember this non-drama where some website was complaining that there were no black people in this game, even though it's supposed to take place in 15th-century Bohemia and made by as the very first project from a Czech Studio that wanted to depict an historically accurate representation of their own culture).

The new content look interesting, and the Narrative in the original was kinda weak, so I'm hoping there's enough new content to justify getting this version.

@WaffleRaptor01 that's my issue with that is, it's a bonus costume, Lego Sonic and the Prototype Bunny design aren't really "lore accurate" either, but nobody bats an eye.

@abbyhitter it means there's a lot of public interest and good will towards the series. I'd day it shows how well received the Sonic Movie franchise has been. Which is something worth celebrating specially when you consider the history of video game adaptations and how little faith everyone had in this because of the of the original movie design.

But if they're in the localization team, after that interview came out about how the new Yakuza Devs go to western teams to ask what is appropriate to put in their games instead of of just doing what is appropriate for their own culture, I say good riddance and I hope they leave this industry altogether.

@Quiet2down Yeah, I could've explained that better. The issue with the OC is that he was simply not interesting. when you have a franchise full of characters people care about but opt for a new guy to be your anchor to the story, you gotta make damn sure that he's captivating. and Cole simply wasn't. he was as generic as they come. They could've made him interesting through his connection with Scorpion, but not even that.

@Kr96 personally, I'd rather deal with typos and odd phrases over completely changing what the characters say.

Honestly, I'm a bit baffled by this. I see nothing that the switch couldn't run.

First one was oaky, but kinda meh. it's biggest disservice was the unbelievably stupid idea of making an OC for a protagonist with a literal Plot Armor for a power.

Yeah, to be honest Kieran is the best developed rival we've had probably ever. I only played a few pokemon games (Gale of Darkness, Sun/Moon, Sword/Shield, Legends Arceus), and his arc was one of the most interesting aspects of the story. He was better than a guy who's haply to battle you or someone who's a jerk for the sake of it.

@Crono1973 yeah... I can believe that what happened was the result of negligence and not malicious intent, and he could've salvaged some of his image had he just humbled himself by admitting his mistakes. But him getting visibly angry and threatening the lawsuit really squandered that possibility.

@Snatcher I think the issue with Hogwarts wasn't even that it didn't win, but it was that it's existence wasn't even acknowledged. Love or hate J.K. Rowling, you can't deny it was one of the biggest games of the year and it merited being at least a nominee in some categories. It's not a stretch to believe that it was ignored because some people can't stand J.K.'s views.

Seriously, if it wasn't obvious before that this show is a farce, 2019's "The Last of Us 2 Awards" should've made that crystal clear that they're nothing but bought and paid for.
That's not the only issue of course, the incessant celebrity guests that had little to nothing to do with gaming, the constant ads. the fact that many of the winners are just glossed over by the host just saying who won then moving on. I guess it took the blatant disrespect shown to the devs who actually got attempt making speeches after winning for people to see this stupidity for what it is.

The only thing that kept me watching it in the years I did was the possibility of a Smash character reveal.

I don't get how this guy came to have so much influence.
Also, I didn't bother watching this thing hut I read that Anthony Mackie was there? Is he appearing in any upcoming games? And, if not, Why was he there?

@SpaceboyScreams if Maya was a brand new character, I'd just say the design of the **BELLY DANCER** wearing an iron bikini on top of her shirt just look kinda dumb and leave it at that.
But she's not, she's a pre-existing character, who's been around for at least a decade, and she was singled out to have her outfit changed because God forbid a charcater whos meant to be an Alluring Dancer wears revealing clothes. Nevermind the fact that her sister's design (and every returning character I've seen) was completely unchanged.

after I saw the atrocity that was that Maya redesign, I'm not touching this game. censoring characters is a sure-fire way to lose support.

I can't be excited for this. Not after the devs censored jokes in the first game ans blatantly lied about it saying nothing would be censored.

@HaileySheridon My guess, is, they don't really want characters made for Toddlers to be beating the snot out of each other. since those are usually made to teach very simplistic morals for very little children. and seeing Dora in the game would lead a parent to buy it and then complain to Nickelodeon when Spongebob Ran her over with his boatmobile.
