@Otoemetry No, it isn't. Fans don't "fall for it". There are people that want to give these games an honest try, with an open mind and a positive attitude, and see if they like them or not. Sometimes they end up liking them, sometimes they don't. I'm not willing to "shill" anything. I'm willing to give the new installments an honest try and see if I like them. And most times, I do end up liking them, in spite of whatever flaws they have. If you don't end up liking them, that's fine. Just please, don't demonize people that do, or aren't as turned off by all their problems as you are. And for the record, the Let's Go games weren't "cash grabs". They were meant for players new to the series. Even if it gained interest from older fans as well.
@Yosher But that's just it. I don't love the Pokemon franchise simply because "it's just Pokemon". It goes beyond that. Like I said, this is a franchise that still means a lot to so many people. All of the flaws that the most recent games have had don't bother everyone this badly. It never felt like a "shell". And I know I'll be called a brain dead sheep for this, but I personally believe that the games have gotten better with each installment, if not without their own nagging flaws as well. I want the Pokemon games to keep on improving like everyone else, but I'm still going to give these games an honest try and see if I like them or not.
@Funneefox It hasn't been THAT bad. There's no denying the games have had a lot of flaws in recent years, but it's not like the whole franchise is going to come tumbling down.
@thiz Stop what? I'm trying to be reasonable with you. I played the game myself, and the cutscenes don't happen "every 20 steps you take". They happen when you get to where you need to go. Besides, there's an option for you to skip the cutscenes and make the text go faster.
@thiz No, I AM understanding what you're saying. You're saying that these games are for babies because NPCs are telling you what you need to do, when you can simply ignore them if you feel like you've heard enough. And you didn't understand what I said either.
@thiz No. They are NOT just for people 3-6. Pokemon games are meant to be for all ages. LEGO sets are different, because quote-on-quote "50 year olds" (which is inaccurate at best) are shown with LEGO sets to review the products and see if they're things that kids would like. And no one is "forcing you to do what they want". They're giving you advice and trying to be helpful.
@Yosher It goes beyond it "being Pokemon". This is a franchise that means a lot to so many people, and they're going to stay fans of it, whatever flaws each installment may have. I have my own problems with Sword/Shield and Sun/Moon, but I'm not going to just give up on what I love because of them.
@thiz They aren't treating them like "babies". I know a game that treats you like a baby when I see one. And so far, the Pokemon games haven't been that.
@Zeldafan79 It kind of does with Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. But maybe we'll get another installment in 2024, since that's the 30th anniversary of Donkey Kong Country. That's when the big oaf really got his due.
@Chibi_Manny It's been that way with Mythicals since the beginning. Challenge is for the Legendaries, which, as you may know, are often a pain to catch.
@Silly_G "Shameful"? "Pathetic"? Jesus Christ, man... You were never foolish for anything. Opinions change over time. You don't know if these games are garbage unless you give them an honest try.
They don't look like PS2 graphics period, HD or not. And Game Freak has NOT been lazy with the visuals. If they were, things would've looked much more blocky and pixelated. It's not about "making mistakes".
@HedgehogEngine Yes. And maybe there's a little bit of that in BD/SP, but the games haven't been released yet, so I can't be certain. I think they're going for the more third-version type of vibe for Pokemon: Legends Arceus.
@Munchlax Well, I don't think it hurts the game. Besides, they were specifically meant to be retellings of Diamond/Pearl, not Platinum. They've been skipping the third version thing for a while now. But yes, I do agree that having a remake of Platinum would be really nice.
Whatever happens with Super Smash Bros. after this game, I hope Sakurai and his crew at least get some time to relax. After everything they've done for us. They deserve it.
@Sora181 No. Not being able to turn it off doesn't equal being forced. And your team isn't going to be "overleveled" because they'll all be the same level, and won't even be that high up until later in the game. I wouldn't be mashing the A button because that's not how the game works. You don't just mash one button over and over again. You have to wait a while and press a button once or twice at a time. I'd rather be bored than enraged.
@Sora181 Even upscaled, they still wouldn't look as smooth. I've seen what it looks like. And nothing is being forced on. It shouldn't even feel that way. How does it take away from any strategy? It didn't do that for me. It just made getting through battles and such far less head-scratching.
@Anti-Matter Exactly. That's the thing I disliked about the older Pokemon games. Being forced to do endless grinding to get the perfect team.
The EXP share was one of the best things about the later games, and no amount of whining is about to change my mind.
@Sora181 No, it does not. If it did look like an uspcaled 3DS game, the graphics would still be much more pixely, because that's how the 3DS is programmed. And it isn't "brain dead" because of the EXP share. Doesn't it make things less tedious?
@nessisonett Except that it doesn't "play itself". And the Pokemon games are designed to be less complex than your typical RPG. It's not about "actual thought".
@nessisonett "Painfully"? Easy doesn't always equal bad. Besides, I don't want to have to constantly go back and forth until I win. I want to have fun, not be frustrated.

Though again, that's just my personal opinion.

Re: The Pokémon Creative Team Has Been "Through A Lot" With Angry Fan Feedback
@thiz No, I'm not. You're not a "special needs kid", and I'm not telling you what to think.
I DO get what you said. I just you're being rather unfair.
But fine. You do you. I don't care.

Re: The Pokémon Creative Team Has Been "Through A Lot" With Angry Fan Feedback
@originaljohn I find it disheartening that you're going to skip these games without at least trying them and seeing if you like them or not.

Re: The Pokémon Creative Team Has Been "Through A Lot" With Angry Fan Feedback
@Duboiss Ah yes, that old bit. The "biggest franchise ever" one. It doesn't matter how big or small a franchise is.
Re: The Pokémon Creative Team Has Been "Through A Lot" With Angry Fan Feedback
@thiz No, it isn't for toddlers. People of all ages have been playing this game. Besides, you have the option not to pay attention to the NPCs.

Re: The Pokémon Creative Team Has Been "Through A Lot" With Angry Fan Feedback
@Chunkboi79 It's not about "pity" or "getting with the times.
And it really doesn't matter how high or low-grossing an IP is.
Re: The Pokémon Creative Team Has Been "Through A Lot" With Angry Fan Feedback
@KBuckley27 That's not how it goes.
Re: The Pokémon Creative Team Has Been "Through A Lot" With Angry Fan Feedback
@victordamazio Ah yes, the "biggest media franchise" bit. It really doesn't matter if they're big or small.
Re: The Pokémon Creative Team Has Been "Through A Lot" With Angry Fan Feedback
@razorxkenshin No ambition? What about Legends: Arceus?
Re: The Pokémon Creative Team Has Been "Through A Lot" With Angry Fan Feedback
@Mordridakon The games aren't exactly unpredictable, but each game at least does something interesting with the context of each setting.
Re: The Pokémon Creative Team Has Been "Through A Lot" With Angry Fan Feedback
@Otoemetry It's not about "corporate greed" or "incompetence".

Re: Rumour: Seth Rogen Will Apparently Star In A Solo Donkey Kong Movie
@personauser0893 That doesn't automatically mean the movie's going to be garbage. And none of us know it's garbage. Not until it's released.

@Chibi_Manny It's been that way with Mythicals since the beginning. Challenge is for the Legendaries, which, as you may know, are often a pain to catch.
Re: Here's How To Get Mew And Jirachi In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl
@Rob3008 Mythicals, not Legendaries.
Legendaries are still fun to catch. Mythicals are event gifts for a reason.

@HedgehogEngine We'll have to wait and see. There's always a chance we could be surprised.
Re: Looks Like Pokémon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl Are Unity Engine Games
@Savage_Joe Legends: Arceus doesn't look like a PS2 game.
Re: Looks Like Pokémon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl Are Unity Engine Games

Re: Pokémon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl Get A Five-Minute Overview Trailer
@Dilly-Mick It isn't even about "force" anyway. It's only a simple part of the gameplay.

@Dilly-Mick We weren't "shouting" at each other, but yes. I completely agree.
Re: Pokémon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl Get A Five-Minute Overview Trailer
@Sora181 Again, they aren't screaming at you to do it.

@Tott No, it doesn't. It's just there. Nobody is screaming at you to use it.

Re: Pokémon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl Get A Five-Minute Overview Trailer
@nessisonett I never said your comment was wrong. Don't put words in my mouth.
Re: Pokémon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl Get A Five-Minute Overview Trailer
@Sora181 It does not look "horrid".
Re: Pokémon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl Get A Five-Minute Overview Trailer
@nessisonett Except that it doesn't "play itself". And the Pokemon games are designed to be less complex than your typical RPG. It's not about "actual thought".

@Max_the_German Not really. It's pixely enough to be a 3DS game.
