Too many games to play so will focus on the main story in Zelda TOTK now. No side quests. I’ve done a lot already at 110 hours. There’s also the latest from Mario and Sonic and I bought the Metal Gear collection.
I picked up FPS Forgive Me Father. I like what I’ve played so far. The animation / sound effects make the action satisfying. There’s a skill tree for weapon, skill, ammo capacity upgrades. I’ll also be playing Pikmin 4. I think I’m nearing the end.
Mainly Pikmin 4 and Zelda on the Switch. I got the Delphine cinematique collection on Evercade, released yesterday, so I’ll be playing some Amiga games.
I’ll be playing Horizon Chase 2. Important note. A prompt appears saying you need an Epic account to continue. Press B to close, but when you press any button on the title screen the prompt appears again. When you press B for the second time you are taken to the mode select screen, so can play without the account.
Otherwise it’s a good high speed racing game. Still satisfying as you weave between cars climbing the ranks.
On the Disney collection by Digital Eclipse, the GameBoy Aladdin is like the Mega Drive version extremely scaled down and isn’t very good. As opposed to building the game from the ground up, tailored to the hardware, resulting in good alternatives. Like the GB versions of Super Mario Bros, Donkey Kong Country and the Ninja Turtles games with their altered titles. You end up with a good selection of different games for anniversary collections.
Some nice surprises but a lot of big hitters have already been confirmed. Mario Bros. Wonder, Metal Gear, Batman Arkham, Prince of Persia among others. I think that lessened the impact of the showcase. A lot of big games are on the way.
Also a lot of remasters were announced but still welcome releases. I’d like to try Another Code. I didn’t play the initial release.
I think this is also a sign of winding down for the next hardware release
@Sequel I’ve already pre-ordered from Nintendo UK store. They normally have good gifts but they don’t announce them until closer to the release date. GAME no longer offer free delivery and there’s a more expensive train fare to get to my nearest store. Otherwise you’d of had yourself a deal.
It looks amazing. Looking forward to discovering other wonder flower effects. I like all the online functionality. New worlds and enemies means more Mario Kart course possibilities.
The game did remind of 16-bit RPGs with new weapons and armour in each town and some in the wild. Levelling up the usual stats. But the combat blew me away. Action packed as it should be, with spells going off while combos are being executed. It was really well done.
I got my copy of Ninty Media’s GameBook this morning. I also have John Szcepaniak’s untold history of game developers volume 5. So lots of gaming reading to do. Otherwise I’ll be playing Zelda and Pikmin 4.
When I was younger, back in the 90s, my parents bought me a TV Boy. It was just a game pad / controller by itself that connected to the TV with an RF cable. It had 126 built-in games. The product seemed legitimate. There were no TV or movie related IP. They were all Atari games. There was a version of Donkey Kong where the Jump Man sprite was coloured brown below the head. No dungarees.
The capabilities of the console being what they were, you could say a lot of games of the time looked similar, but the music and graphics did stand out in Secret of Mana. They were very strong and so, more memorable than others.
I think given the time since Mario Odyssey’s release, and the popularity of the film, launching with a new 3D Mario is likely and would be a good choice.
I store my games mainly in draws and on shelves. I still have my N64 magazine stand for cartridges as pictured in the article. I also have the NGC magazine holder for GameCube games. With those games packed away, they currently hold my Wii U games.
I still have the NES with 7 games. Maniac Mansion, Rescue the embassy mission and Robocop 2 are the games I haven’t seen much of. I think it’s highly unlikely they’ll reappear. Not that I miss them. Maniac Mansion and Rescue were the better games.
My cousin had the master system 2 which had Alex Kid built in. You would turn the console on with no cartridge and it booted up the game. I think he had a copy of Castle of Illusion as well.
I enjoyed the isometric view action in Darksiders Genesis so after reading the review of the Lara Croft collection I decided to download that. I’ll also give the Pikmin 4 demo a try.
I can understand the argument for 3rd party games. A lot of games have been initially platform exclusive before releasing on other platforms later. Like Final Fantasy VII and Cup Head among others. However, if the developer of the hardware is also developing the software then I see no problem with exclusivity. It’s their product.
Sub zero would be the more family friendly with just striking and ice moves. It could’ve worked. Otherwise Raiden, as the protector of earth realm doesn’t want to kill anyone. It would be energy projectiles like what other characters have.
I love the look of this. Similar art style but very different world. While Cup Head was brutal but fair difficulty I’d like it if this game could be slightly less punishing.
A new 2D or 3D Mario would be awesome.
So much retro content has been released over the years I can’t think of anything in particular. Past Mortal Kombat games are more likely to be a 3rd party announcement. Unless they’re made available on NSO.
I don’t think there should be rush for the next console given the popularity of the Switch, but it has been on the market for 6+ years. Even if new hardware is planned for next year it’s probably best to announce it late 23 / early 24.
With all the retro collections being released the absence of the MK games is notable. New games are certainly most welcome but I’m surprised they haven’t announced a arcade / console versions kollection. Especially for the 30th anniversary.
I’ll be playing Project Zero mask of the lunar eclipse, Metroid prime remastered and I’ll spend a bit of time on Golden eye. It’s good to play some N64 classics but like to spend more time on new / current Switch games.
I voted 2017 for Zelda, Mario, Sonic Mania and Doom (2016). I rate 2022 as a very close second for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 among other great games that year.
I’ll be playing Golden Eye. I remember 00 Agent being far too difficult when I was younger. I’ve already completed the first 4 levels on that difficulty. I’m on the final chapter of Fire Emblem Warriors three hopes, so will finish that.
@Magician 19/24 I got caught out on Overwatch to. Control was memorable because it was cloud only. There’s so much available now, I can’t think of any particular recent release I’d like to see. On the retro front(16-bit era), Mortal Kombat hasn’t made an appearance yet. Compared to other franchises where games have been released on multiple collections. Sonic 2, Street Fighter etc.
I think this was shown on channel 4 in the UK. I saw it along with others also on 4. SMB 3, and Super Mario World had a cartoon as well. I loved them all at the time but they probably haven’t aged well.
I don’t think Nintendo could go wrong with GameBoy games for NSO. That’s a much beloved console. Would be good to kick things off with Goldeneye N64, hopefully this month. As for new games that aren’t Zelda, maybe there could be a new 3D Mario. Donkey Kong has been absent for a while. There could be a third 2D game with a port of Wii DKC returns so the trilogy can be owned on Switch. Unless a 3D platformer is realised again for Donkey Kong.
I’ve started life is strange true colours. Bought the physical copy. Been on the back log for some time. I love what I’ve seen so far. Two point campus - Finally got 1 star on the cheese ball level, after a few re-tries. I’ll play some old and new Turtles games as well.
@Magician I’m hoping for such a collection next year. With arcade and console versions would be a nice bonus like the Turtles release. There’s an Arcade 1Up Midway cabinet with MK, Paper boy and a few other classics. Maybe a similar collection will get a home console release.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Kirby Mass Attack
I voted for the NA cover because it shows multiple Kirbys attacking enemies, giving an idea of the in-game action.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 4th)
Too many games to play so will focus on the main story in Zelda TOTK now. No side quests. I’ve done a lot already at 110 hours.

Re: Talking Point: Which Old Track Do You Wish Had Made It Into Mario Kart 8 Deluxe?
N64 Bowser’s Castle is the best castle track. My other vote was Airship fortress DS
Re: Upcoming Nintendo Switch Games And Accessories For November And December 2023
nintendo.co.uk has SteamWorld Build for 1st December
Re: Talking Point: Which Version Of Super Mario Bros. 3 Do You Prefer?
NES OG for those sounds and those graphics. The doom ship music sounds better.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Yoshi's Cookie
I think the Japanese version is the better box art. The different variety of cookies are clearly shown along with the tin. An easy choice this time.
Re: Talking Point: What Is Your Video Game Palate Cleanser?
My palate cleansers tend to be the latest version of Picross, replays of retro titles or anything that’s ideal for short bursts of play.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (September 23rd)
I’ll be playing Horizon Chase 2.
Important note.

Re: Forgive Me Father Is A Lovecraftian FPS With Comic Book Visuals Coming To Switch Next Week
This game reminds me of Project Warlock. I’ll wait for a Switch review but it’s looking like a likely purchase.
Re: Feature: Digital Doppelgangers - Home Vs. Handheld Adaptations In The 2000s
On the Disney collection by Digital Eclipse, the GameBoy Aladdin is like the Mega Drive version extremely scaled down and isn’t very good.

Re: Walmart's Pre-Order Bonuses For Super Mario Bros. Wonder Revealed (North America)
The GAME pre-order bonus is an elephant power-up stress ball. I’d rather have the trading card pack.
Re: Talking Point: Which Classic Cartoons Deserve The Shredder's Revenge Treatment?
The first thing I thought of was the Simpsons but I voted Batman as there’s more possibilities for villains and story.
I played the Biker Mice from Mars racing game on the SNES. So for a new entry, a run n’ gun or beat em up with motorbike riding sections?
Re: Super Mario Bros. Wonder Direct - All Announcements, Features, Power-Ups, Worlds
It looks amazing. Looking forward to discovering other wonder flower effects. I like all the online functionality.

Re: Anniversary: Tales Of Symphonia Became A GameCube JRPG Favourite 20 Years Ago

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Excitebike 64
The Japanese cover is good but EU/NA shows a racer mid stunt against a blue sky, chequered flag with the logo as well. Makes it the winner I think.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 26th)
I’ll be continuing with Zelda TOTK and Pikmin 4. Quake 2 and War Hammer Boltgun, save anywhere retro shooters are good for short bursts of play.

I got my copy of Ninty Media’s GameBook this morning. I also have John Szcepaniak’s untold history of game developers volume 5.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: The Legend Of Zelda
@JohnnyMind I voted the same. You get the the nicely coloured sky and mountains. Easy choice this week

Re: Can You Match These Zeldas To The Game They're From?
13/17. The toon / cel shaded designs were the difficult ones.

I’m going to try and finish Xenoblade Chronicles 3 before Tears of the Kingdom is released.
Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Cowabunga Collection Surpasses One Million Sales
It’s good to see this has sold well. Acknowledging the demand(market) and appreciation for collections like this.
Re: Talking Point: What's The Best Year In Gaming?
I voted 98 for Resident Evil 2 and those N64 games mentioned in the article. WCW NWO Revenge was also released that year.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 11th)
I’ll be playing Project Zero mask of the lunar eclipse, Metroid prime remastered and I’ll spend a bit of time on Golden eye. It’s good to play some N64 classics but like to spend more time on new / current Switch games.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel - Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge
A tough choice. I gave the edge to NA/EU as the background uses the full length of the box behind the logo. And I think the hero is better presented.

@Magician 19/24

Re: TMNT: The Cowabunga Collection Gets First Major Update, Here Are The Full Patch Notes
The GameBoy colour updates are a nice surprise. The special button and difficulty options are also welcome. I’ll be playing this over the weekend.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 17th)
@the_beaver I do have the Switch version. it runs smoothly enough. I wouldn’t cite performance issues as a negative. I’d definitely recommend it.
