Splatoon 3. I have around 8 times more hours spent than my 2nd most game.
That 2nd game being Ring Fit Adventure. I probably could live without it, but it is such a good, quick home workout game, for cardio and core workouts.
This reminds me of the Mario Clock DSiware app I used across high school. It irritated my brother, since we shared a room, but he was a heavy sleeper anyways. Happy Mario Day!
Also, out of curiosity, what plays during Sleepy Sounds mode? Nothing from the original SMB soundtrack gives off anything you can listen to sleep to?
amiibo would be kind’vve a weird thing to cut off at this point for Smash Bros, Animal Crossing and Splatoon. Maybe not impossible to give the boot, but it still has the dedication for their individual fandoms.
Its Big Run Weekend in Splatoon 3. Get yourself some Scales at 3x the rate. Inkblot Art Academy is also a pretty good place to fight the Triumvirate, so you can come in with a good payday.
@Serpenterror Looking through Nintendo’s yearly operating expense records, $7 million is the approximate value of simply running the company on a single day.
@PikminMarioKirby Avalanche is WB’s golden goose right now with Hogwarts Legacy. They understand how to make proper licensed games. Saving them from being shut down after Disney Interactive’s blowout was one of the few right calls WB has made in the last 10 years, even then, that was likely an entirety different crew of leadership that took it on.
Super Mario Bros. 2 (Or rather the Advance remake) was my first Nintendo game. I’ve never stopped to think how good the soundtrack is. Very elaborate albeit a small amount of tracks for the NES.
Ironic that a longstanding theory on why Switch 2 is taking so long to release was in expecting parts to become cheaper over time, only to now have distribution take a massive cost.
Miiverse was definitely flawed from the getgo, but I do miss it as a way to journal your backlog, as Iwata claimed it was intended to be. I liked using the browser site during my lunch breaks to see other people’s game experiences. I think it incentivized people to play less popular games to rule another game’s “played” feed. And it was really good at grasping how good a game was by the people proven to have known it.
I used it far less in its later end, but I do still tend to journal the games I play and with some additional QOL features had Miiverse returned to Switch, I still see it being effective.
ALTTP in particular though was crazy ambitious for its time. I can understand why the debug can be rigorous, especially with how long it takes to transition between Hyrule and Dark World.
As much as Harvest Moon has been beating Story of Seasons at their own game recently with Winds of Anthos, it seems dumb for Harvest Moon to reopen the discourse against them, with these games (and One World) really being the catalyst Harvest Moon’s initial downfall.
I didn’t get selected and neither did my friends. Looks like I’m gonna have to dive in what will probably be another frustrating experience with the waitlist
Sutte Hakkun! I love that we’re getting more of the funky extremely late Super Famicom games! From what I’ve seen and heard, this game is pretty basic, but its still neat to get another obscure Japanese Nintendo game out to the public.
If they’re planning a set of public demos worldwide, with a range of expected 1st and 3rd Party games starting in early April, I can’t imagine this system to release later than the end of June, especially given of how Nintendo typically markets, where the window between announcement to release tends to be rather short.
Tarrey Town is #1, but I like the sidequest in Echoes of Wisdom with the kid obsessed with Zols.
Also, since I beat Mario & Luigi: Brothership recently, the sidequest about the guy fawning over Birdo and the sidequest where Mario and Luigi eavesdrop on the women come to mind. Also, the sidequest where you have to deliver a certain package in Lottacoins.
It speaks for how revoltutionary and snappy Mario 64 felt, that Banjo Kazooie and Crash 2 were really the only 3D platformers that rivaled it in acclaim during its generation.
3D Platformers have been an untapped market for years and hopefully Xbox Game Studios will see Astro Bot as inspiration to give it their all.
This was the story of the 3DS essentially. It sold fairly well at launch, had another boom for Ocarina of Time 3D, but $250 wasn’t affordable enough to get anyone beyond the early adopters. My guess is that it is $350 US at launch, pricing it below the PS5.
I like the design on its own, its just kind’ve a different character. This new DK looks stronger, but much less motivated to use his strength. Love how massive those arms are though, especially in that tiny kart.
Before I asked friends to pay for their share of the NSO family subscription. Now I’m just adding spare buddies in, with the promise that they’ll bring me to the Switch 2 experience if selected. I remember having a fun time with the Switch 1 Experience when it came to Toronto.
Alot of comments here are blaming Nintendo for their approach, but frankly, things wouldn’t change if the “Switch 2” marketing plan started 6 months ago. Certain people will reveal anything to anyone for attention, once info is available.
Switch 1 hardware information was also leaked to all hell within the Summer before the Switch 1 was revealed and for what its worth, its still very wild how mum everyone has been on launch titles, especially from 1st Party teams.
I’ve never subscribed to the idea that Tropical Freeze is a definitively better game than Returns. Both games are excellent for sure, but TF has much worse bosses, levels that linger on too long and the additional characters just didn’t feel 100% right.
I got mine right away and its really helped me break the habit of staying in bed after waking up. Although, I do find myself flailing like a seal in trying to set it on snooze.
Isn’t it kinda nuts that accessory manufacturers are just announcing Switch 2 products left and right that steal thunder from Nintendo, but game publishers and indies are (seemingly) forced to keep their mouths shut over launch window software?
I respect alot of what Mat has to say at Circana. You watch any interview of his and he has alot of data regarding how North American customers purchase and takes the job quite seriously.
As it is right now, alot of people are still saving for a PS5 and waiting to get Grand Theft Auto VI. Its launch will be staggering to the point where about everyone in the industry is hoping for it to be the game that re-energizes the market wholely in a “rising tide” kind of way. The Switch successor will be big, but GTAVI will take over the masses if it can stay in the schedule.
I’ll use it maybe if its around for Switch Sports. Although my buddies really prefer using the straps for when we play Single Joy Con games like Super Mario Party and Jamboree, to the point where I’m the minority of the matter.
Nintendo filed a patent for something like this a while ago, so they definitely thought about the prospect, but I doubt we’d see anything from them with tech like this soon
Echoes of Wisdom is my GOTY. The crux of Zelda has always been exploration and Echoes maximizes that feeling of exploration more than any other 2D Zelda. It did an excellent job differentiating itself from other masterpieces while keeping its core in-tact.
My top 3 were Splatoon 3, GBA-NSO (Mainly A Link to the Past) and Echoes of Wisdom. So all things considered, a good year for Nintendo but also a good year for Zelda.
Gonçalo‘s Ace Combat 7 placing though is really cool. Really neat that Bandai Namco would choose to port that game with so much time separated from the original release. Amd I’ve heard nothing but praise for the Switch port.
Game Boy Advance - Nintendo Switch Online (Mainly The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past + Four Swords) (39 hours)
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom (38 hours)

Top Genre: Action (48%) & Shooter (42%)
Favorite Game: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
Also, Mario & Luigi: Brothership probably could have cracked the top 3 if December counted because I’m really cracking through that game and its way lengthier than I presumed.
