I feel Nintendo should just let the cat out the bag. They are in danger of losing control of the narrative, as rumours etc get harder to shoot down the closer they are to the truth
I don’t think a Switch reveal hurts sales that much.
I actually expect a small bump in Switch sales as discounts for the console role in. My family and others were not well off as kids so I didn’t get a NES until the SNES was out because the cost came down
Not sure. My first thought was a new mini console, made Dreamcast. Then I thought could they release an updated Sega Game Gear? I don’t mean next gen, it would come installed with classic games, but just updated screen etc
@Vexx234 I feel like I’m a lot of those situations they delayed the game, but not as much as they would have liked and were still pressure to release an unfinished product
It depends. I think there needs to be regulation in place to ensure that if you purchase a game, it is yours and can access it forever. No game should require internet to work (Steam Deck is great, but single player games needing an internet connection to play is absurd) If those conditions are met, I am fine with it. If they aren’t then I will try and remain physical as much as possible
@WhiteUmbrella Yeah, this is quite common. Take self checkouts at supermarkets replacing jobs, or machines in car factories.
It seems like when it is low paying jobs at risk nobody cares, it is modernization.
When it is rich or wealthy jobs suddenly it is the worst thing ever.
Looks alright. I might get it as a DC fan who would love either a remaster of the PS2 Justice League game or any Superman game. I wonder if this is canon to the new DCU? Joke
@WallyWest Yeah, and they could have even swap faces to avoid right issues. Just odd that they had it almost complete and they just didn’t finish it. I do not believe there was not a deal to be made there that could have benefitted everyone
@Doomcrow I disagree. Yes, there will be the people who dip back in and out, but the game has a dedicated following who still mod and play it today and for those the ability to play online and on the go will be something special. I still play through the game regularly, granted with modern control, and enjoy it every time.
However, I do get your point that there will be many who have not played this in 20+ years and will be in for a shock - which also ain’t helped by the lack of custom control options for the Switch apps
Surprised they couldn’t figure a way to finish and release the leaked version for both consoles and allow multiplayer cross play as it is a fantastic update of you have managed to play it
The big question is: How will it control with the current Switch N64 button layout? Well this come with altered controls?
You can’t win with portable FIFA at the moment. The Switch gets shafted with a copy and paste job and the Steam Deck has the issue that if you don’t have Wifi it doesn’t boot. I get that games want anti-cheat software, but you should, heck it should almost be law, that single player, offline is playable without the need to connect. I wish I had a list of every EA employee so I could treat them how they treat their customers. If one came in for a coffee, I would serve them an old one I warmed up - and if they tried to set at a table I would require them to show me two forms of ID and proof of address
For me, getting a Steam Deck is all about emulation of the games I grew up with and being able to play them on the go. I feel like it should not be illegal if someone, let’s say, wanted to play WWF No Mercy, but weren’t born when it came out, so now just just can’t? It’ll be like a movie that came out on VHS, but twenty years later it hasn’t been put on a streaming service and so if you don’t own a VHS player and the cassette you can’t watch.
But how would they release it? Like wouldn’t Nintendo still need to allow it to be on their store? So, I would assume, if they ignored the copyright, that it would still be banned for same reason as Advanced Wars
This, so far, has gone in order of the reveal in the Nintendo Direct. That means either Goldeneye comes out after the remaining games or is getting some kind of special release date different from normal schedule
@LikelySatan If I were to guess I would say that is the point he is making that they live vicariously rather than through experience. But as a young, hip and all round cool dude I can’t be sure what that square is getting at. Word!
Well… that is a shame. EA games always feel a certain way, and not in a good way. It is hard to explain, as Game uses animations, but EA games just feel like I am playing QuickTime events. Even Fallen Order it feels restricted when other games don’t. They have a stiffness to them.
Crazy to think that there are some kids playing games today, who will be shocked to learn that there was once a time EA actually put effort in, like they actually tried.
@alexybubble True, they also get the odd extra game. I think that will be 2023, just wondering will it be first half or second? I’ve said it before, but I find it crazy that they are going to release it, but didn’t get it together and release on the anniversary of the game, nor were they able to come to an agreement about getting the Xbox 360 remaster released, that would have made coin for both companies and the game is pretty much done
That is what I assumed, but it would seem odd to go Mario Party 1 and 2 and not follow it with 3, unless they skip December. The Japan Direct said 2023 for Goldeneye - otherwise I would have assumed it would be 2022. Obviously, things could change and maybe that is why the Japan Direct said 2023 and the others said 'Coming Soon'
This is a difficult situation as I don’t totally hate the free-to-play model. However, if it is only cosmetic extras that are paid extras then I am OK with it. I don’t think a game should be pay-to-win. I think as we move away from sequels to a more constant improvement via DLC and upgrades type models there needs to be continued investment. Maybe a $2 a week subscription model for all players would be better
@Grumblevolcano The Goldeneye announcement is so strange if you ask me. The Japanese trailer mentioned 2023, and if we are waiting until after these games it could be mid 2023, so why announce the game so early? Why not release when it is being emulated? Why not just announce a release date? Crazy to think they had the perfect day to launch it this year, being the 25th anniversary, and yet they somehow botched it.
@Yosher Yeah, especially if other companies can start using licensed players, kits etc. I am a 90s kid and I remember there being so many different football games that had licensed names, some good and some bad but the competition pushed innovation People are passionate about the sport and want to play as their favourite team and EA has basically exploited this love, first by buying exclusive rights and second their lack of effort.
That is a shame... I still have N64 controllers from way back when, so would be great if could convert those for Switch. Anyone know what game for N64 is coming out this month for NSO?
I don’t wish to take the conversation off topic, but has anyone heard what the September N64 game for NSO will be or are they classing the Sega stuff this month’s update
@nocdaes Agree. Imagine if they had announced and released the game at that moment. Now, it is like the hype has come and gone a little. It is not like they haven’t been planning this for like a year or more. I would have no idea why they might release it in 2023, unless it is the January N64 release and they are hoping they will get people buying Switch online over Xmas in preparation for it, but not sure that is likely. Just an odd thing to say on Japanese video it is 2023 and others ‘Coming Soon’ as why change it, like that is a conscious choice that must have some meaning behind it
@Pod I personally don’t think it should. That said, with the rumours the game was once in limbo and it was Nintendo holding back due to the war, it make me think the announcement with no defined date is a test on the public reaction- as the game does have Russia as the bad guys. Also if things get worse they might change their mind Like I said I think that would be a mistake and shouldn’t be any connection between the two.
@Angelic_Lapras_King I wonder if that means Japan has to wait longer than other regions as I don’t get why you wouldn’t put that on other trailers, like someone had to deliberately type coming soon on one and then 2023 on another. Personally, 2023 is too long. I fear this is Nintendo hoping things will change in terms of the current Russia situation and if it don’t they will pull the pin. It interesting as the thumbnail on YouTube for the N64 games coming puts Goldeneye front and center and you would assume it is September’s release although that is doubtful

@OstianOwl True. It shows that there are times studios should listen to their the fanbase.
Granted not all the time, but they often don’t listen enough
Re: Nintendo Adds Metroid Prime 4: Beyond To Official Metroid Website, Says It's "Coming Soon"
Surprised this didn’t become a Switch 2 release day game
Re: Nintendo's Switch Online Playtest Is Already Being Streamed, Unsurprisingly
Part of me thinks Nintendo could not have been this naive to think this wouldn’t happen that they in fact wanted it to happen

I feel Nintendo should just let the cat out the bag.
They are in danger of losing control of the narrative, as rumours etc get harder to shoot down the closer they are to the truth
Re: Nintendo Announces Switch Online: Playtest Program Related To "New Feature"
Well I doubt it is GameCube games as I assume they won’t add those until Switch 2
Re: Talking Point: So Then, Is This 'Switch 2' Leak Legit?
I don’t think a Switch reveal hurts sales that much.
I actually expect a small bump in Switch sales as discounts for the console role in. My family and others were not well off as kids so I didn’t get a NES until the SNES was out because the cost came down
Re: Nintendo Submits "Mysterious New Wireless Device" To FCC
Interesting that the recent leak of the Switch 2 has the top USB-C that this will plug into, I assume.
So, that will mean we can expect a Mario or Wii Sports type game on launch and possibly packaged with the Switch 2 to sell the conept
Re: Rumour: Switch Successor Might Not Be Launching Until 2025
Hmm, not convinced.
I think it will be this year, the OG Switch will then become the best selling console as the discount on it will probably give it a boost in sales
Re: Random: It's Been 5 Years Since Metroid Prime 4 Was Rebooted
Yeah, this is a Switch 2 game now

Re: Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 To Fix A "Number Of Issues" Post-Launch
@AZYotes5013 I got the PS3 HD Collection on the Deck and runs like a charm.
If I had to pick, I would probably pick getting it for the deck just for the frame rate
Re: Talking Point: Would You Buy A Digital-Only 'Switch 2'?
It depends. I think there needs to be regulation in place to ensure that if you purchase a game, it is yours and can access it forever. No game should require internet to work (Steam Deck is great, but single player games needing an internet connection to play is absurd)

@Zeldork Yeah it was interesting that the controls were not mentioned.
However being a remaster rather than a port hopefully work has been done

I am lucky enough to have got hold of the remaster that leaked, which is great.
I downloaded this for the Switch and just wish you could customize the controls on the N64 app to make the controls more like said remaster
