@Delibheel Lol, it's India's currency I think. I meant there wasn't any gemstone that's called a rupee. Since Soulja's saying his bling (green diamonds) are reminiscent of Zelda's rupees.
Funnily, rupee are the currency of Zelda, despite being gems. So India's rupee would be a close representation in terms of function ¯\__(ツ)__/¯ (one rupee is only worth $0.014, so finding beer bottles on the street will net the same profit as finding rupees in grass)
The closest physical counterpart to a rupee would probably emeralds, but green diamonds do exist. Soulja boy could not have "green rupees like zelda" since rupees don't actually exist. I'm not a fan, but I don't see what's wrong with the line. Maybe "Green diamonds like rupees".
@Heavyarms55 I agree to physical vs digital for sure, but the game's the same. The tax make's sense since you're paying extra for the portability that cartridge games bring, but it's a nuisance nonetheless. If someone only owns one console, and perhaps play games on the go since they drive or something, then they wouldn't have expected having to pay more for games than everyone else when they bought the console. It's like having a gas hike simply for your car brand.
Don't get me wrong, I definitely see your point, like complaining about unfair gas prices when you drive a jet to work, it's different than a car and uses jet-fuel, But the precedent in the industry has been to pay more for the console if you're wanting the consoles feature[new3ds, pro editions], not to pay more for the game.
As long as someone's being taxed for something they didn't expect, and as long as there actually is a tax, I can't fault people for complaining. Guess it's more of a Portability tax than a Switch tax though, since you have to pay for the feature whether you use it or not.
(The last thing would be the complaint of shrinking the market appeal, when something goes from a convenience to a premium [portability premium], but I wouldn't say the "tax" is nearly prevalent enough to affect anything as people might once have feared. Less people the console sells to, worse it is for everyone.)
@Heavyarms55 It's the same game though no? You say different features, but it's more akin to an (im)port tax? I can see people fairly complaining about having to pay more for the same thing.
It's different machines, yes, but the user experience isn't.
Would this be under fair use? Maybe not, if they used the full song, but I can't imagine you could sue much for a free educational game. Any legally knowledgeable people browsing?
Edit: Lots of.. "Interesting" comments. I'll put it out there that you'd sue the E.P.A. for this and not ambiguously "the (big bad) government" . Secondly, I can't imagine trump plays well with the Environmental Protection Agency. It's litter-ally a game made to teach kids to recycle along with encouraging renewable resources.
@MsJubilee Can't tell if sarcasm, but your reply isn't a proper sentence; the second line isn't a full sentence either, just part of one...
I can understand your intention in context, but it takes deciphering since you didn't punctuate. "[period] It's what, basic"-> You said this with the meaning of "It is what? It is basic education." But it reads like "It is what basic education should be/ what basic education is/ what basic education etc."
Proper grammar, Mla/cmos standards, aren't needed for internet comments, but punctuation, even excessively, simply for pacing and clarity, is appreciated. So long as the meaning can be understood on the first pass.
@dres I'm reeeeeally bad a typing, sorry. Basically I was asking if there was anything to gain (in say, latency or speed) by switching hosts. Then I asked if what's gained by switching is also worth any extra risks incurred by switching hosts, and what those risks would actually be.
I also kind of put my understanding of the answers sprinkled through the questions making it worse. My understanding at the time being : Although unlikely, Nintendo wouldn't want to be hosted on a server already hosting a competitor in case sensitive information is maliciously leaked or sold.
@Jeronan "You can bet that some very smart hackers" Yes, only the very best in security verification here at amazon.
(I don't know anything about it, just thought that was a funny "Guarantee")
Secondly, you're saying that it's feasible, just that amazon wouldn't take the risk right? (trying to understand it from a business standpoint.) So what would make Nintendo want to take the risk? It'd be awful for Amazon, but also for Nintendo if that 99.999% happens. Is there enough incentive for Nintendo to take the risk? A sort of, what's at stake and what can be gained comparison. Do they not have the risk of "very smart hackers" from competitors currently? if the information is encrypted? (as in, apart from amazon taking data, are all other risks the same with their current solution vs switching to amazon hosting)
I'm sad to see online go. I don't use online services with any sort of consistency, but when I do I really enjoy my time. I've fond memories of playing MKWii online for hours on random weekends trying to get better, unlocking characters, or playing battle mode. While I treasure those times spent, I know there's no way I'd have been able to get the funds for "online services" from my mom after the pretty price of the game, which would mean not getting online at all.
I understand it makes sense for Nintendo to be doing this, but I can't help but be sad for those casual players who had to save up half a year for their Nintendos. Maybe if they gave 2-3 hours free a month?
(Does this mean anything online at all? Including playing with friends, but not local wireless?)
I got it back for the WiiU to use on GameCube Ports and MarioKart, because you couldn't use a GameCube controller as a ProController back then. Asking for a good D-pad on a GameCube controller is something that probably will never happen though. It also doesn't have the classic shoulder buttons.
(My mobile will always act weird when commenting on NL, so excuse any random words put into places or poor autocorrect)
@Shiryu Tough to see how hard of a time he gets from some people, especially since the Nintendo community is one of the friendlier ones out there. If I'm not mistaken, I originally found him and became a fan through an online article featuring one of his videos.
@ThanosReXXX I'd say it's a different kind of enjoyment through practice and mastery of the mechanics. The inverse being someone enjoying the animations and winning in a fighting game while just pressing buttons. Some games are more suited for it than others, and it can extend the enjoyment of a game, but it's definitely a different type of enjoyment.... I need a thesaurus.
To some people, the game doesn't really start till it's over. Like in smash, where you can't get to competitive play before all the characters are unlocked and you understand how most the game works. (I can no longer enjoy it casually as a party game D:)
Anyhow, that's at least what I think you were talking about, and how I assume it works. I personally prefer playing games the former way, which gave the entirety of some games, like bejeweled, no appeal to me. If you're not talking about what I think you were, then this would have made no sense, and sorry for the @
@Timsworld I'm fairly sure the code that turns the switch off is labeled Goodnight.... It had to be named something, as that's how code works, but they chose something cute instead of power on / power off. It's like getting upset that Mario was titled instead of just a random folder being sent out.
Edit: Maybe it is sending a line of text? Either way it's less time then it took to type your first comment.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Looks like an outdated car tbh. NA Snes looks like a robot I'd say nostalgia takes it per person. The colo(u)rful buttons looked so off when I saw them for the first time that I was taken aback, but definitely seem to be the better choice when I think of it.
@rennandovale read what I wrote before @'ing me(pleeeeeeeaseeeee). I did not say that people who pirate games for use on emulators will support the original creators. Changing just a few words in the English language can create vastly different meanings, it's tricky but pertinent! The unicorns add ambiance. No need to be rude
I gotta agree with JaxonH on this one. While many people will eventually be able to pirate Nintendo's games for free with this, I'd guess that the majority of the people willing to put money into a Nintendo emulator would be dedicated enough to own physical copies of the games and systems. The biggest issue here is probably the amount of money they're making off Nintendo's name, and how they're using it.
@Kohaku Obviously you wouldn't be sitting in front of the console the entire time. It's the difference between checking the mail and delivering it. In the little down time I have, I don't want to waste my time grinding. I would rather press a button every couple minutes while doing something else then sit for hours just to get the kart I want. So yes, for I game I care about, I have the small amount of time needed to press a button every 5 minutes since there has sadly been no way provided to transfer your progress.
@Kohaku Not everyone has that much time, especially for a game they already spent farming all those coins! If I just have 10 minutes or so for a game, I don't want all my kart options to be limited from what I'm used to ^_^
@Dakt I was thinking the same thing, But I think the point he's arguing is that Nintendo was (accidentally) relying on a pirate's emulation which is something they've condoned. As well as the fact that in certain scenarios, emulation can be helpful for the video game community. The point wasn't really made apparent until the last of the video.
Of course, ^This entails that all pirates (should) use common sense and decency in piracy, as to not infringe on a company's earnings. Summary: Not all pirates bad??
