Re: Round Up: Pokémon World Championships 2024 - Is The Competitive Event At A Turning Point?

HobbitGamer

@REAVERZINE Usually for regional or international streams, there's shorts that are interspersed between casted matches. I definitely understand where you're coming from, and I'm not gonna say they lacked it because "durr hurr it's Worlds". I saw it like twice, but not as often as when they show other events. The website or YouTube casters (some of which were commenting) have really good videos that explain they whys.
@Lightsiyd I was viewing for TCG, but I made sure to catch some of the other 3 too. Our local league has players in Go and VGC, but none in Unite yet. There was awesome gameplay and sportsmanship to see in all of it. I played Unite with my nephew over the summer and it was very fun, I'm just too deep in tcg to remember more stuff.

Re: Random: Thieves Rob 35,000 Pokémon Cards From California Store

@Rayquaza2510 I didn't honestly think ya were, you're an oldie like me 🙂
Those examples are definitely nuts! But then, some states in the US have issues with groups of scum running into stores and stealing a bunch of stuff at once too. I think things like that come down to simple fact that if folks think they can get away with it, they will try. Cuz in those US places, they're super soft on crime. Some instances of home invasions, the home owner gets charged because they shot the invader!
Wouldn't it be something if a card burnt up if it was too far from it's owner, mwah haha

@Rayquaza2510 Imma jump back from a busy life hiatus just to give my two cents to your opinion. Pokémon tcg has always been nuts. In high school ('99-'03) there was a card shop next to our theatre that was packed. There was a comic shop near the mall that was always packed. When you're saying that adults buying and selling cards makes other people have to wait, you're trying to blame the sellers or the hobby. But the shops make the choice to enable your example, and folks make the choice to shop there.
I'm sure you didn't mean it this way; but your opinion reads like the store in this article had it coming because they dared to engage in business 🤣

Re: Video: PlayStation Vita Apps Are Up And Running On Switch, Here's A Look

HobbitGamer

@SwitchForce maybe some developers are into bondage. That's their personal choice. Speaking of choice, I really enjoyed the Nickelodeon Choice awards, because it involved slime. Not the kind of slime from Dragon Quest, as that would be ultra no no copyright problems.

That's what your comments sound like. But I respect your right to voice your opinion.

@Ryu_Niiyama For her, I'm probably going for a Swiss. She's 12, and a bit adventurous on the huge plot of land we have. The extra tools are practi al without being a bully multi tool that she didn't like. It's the first knife I had, so there's that. That said, there's some nice affordable single blades out there. The Old Timer Minuteman has two, and it's beautiful. I'm torn between them.

Re: Happy Halloween! Nintendo Has Released A Free Metroid Dread Demo

HobbitGamer

@ShadJV For me, it's hard to feel like I get that $60 out of most games. They have to compete against my hundreds of hours on the ME trilogy and Fallout games, so it's not fair to them. I had the same conflict about the Links Awakening remake. Metroid was great, and I've never died so much during boss fights and NOT get infuriated, so the risk reward payoff was just right. It probably only felt short because I was so into it while playing

I'm gonna be that guy. The game is fun, and very well balanced...but it was over too soon for me. I mean, I don't even get much play time, and my 3 girls even had double header soccer championships for three of the 6 days I first played the thing. Great game, wish it were longer, loved the sequence break rewards.

Re: Random: Nintendo Extracts Customer's Missing Wedding Ring From Their Wii U

HobbitGamer

I once had a customer bring in his PS3 to GameStop because the drive wouldn't take discs. Turns out that his little one had managed to stuff three games in the drive. Got it fixed, but we all had a good chuckle. Kids are weird. And the folks that say they can't imagine it, bad kids, blah blah; you were a child once, and probably did comparable things

Re: Smash Comp The Big House Cancelled After Cease And Desist From Nintendo

HobbitGamer

@nessisonett Why should it be celebrated that folks are enjoying an old game? That is a genuine question, because I don't understand that statement. Whether the people behind the mod are talented or even work at soup kitchens isn't the point of this.
Nintendo sponsors an event.
Nintendo says please don't use our stuff that way.
Event refuses.
Nintendo issues C&D

Whether someone is a genius philanthropist wouldn't change what happened here.

Unfortunate? Sure.

Re: Smash Comp The Big House Cancelled After Cease And Desist From Nintendo

HobbitGamer

@nessisonett Nintendo did offer an alternative, they asked them to not do that specific thing. They refused, so Nintendo sought to shut it all down. That's what happens. And why should Nintendo have to offer an alternative to people wanting to do something they never intended, anyway? That doesn't make sense. Nintendo isn't out to make friends or lovers, they're a company selling a product.
