Update [Mon 17th Apr, 2023 14:47 BST]: The Pokémon Company has now shared details of the "newly discovered Pokémon", which will be making its debut in The Hidden Treasures of Area Zero DLC.
Here are all of the details of the mysterious new turtle:
Who’s That Pokémon?!
This unknown Pokémon is reminiscent of the Legendary Pokémon Terapagos, but its name and true nature are shrouded in mystery. It is small in stature and not particularly strong, but when push comes to shove, it can crystallize the energy in its body to form a protective shield. Apparently, it can also assume a dormant state when it feels that its life is in danger by pulling its head, limbs, and tail into its shell and making itself look like a jewel.
In The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, players will leave the Paldea region and be able to delve deeper into the world of Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet

Original article [Fri 14th Apr, 2023 12:45 BST]: Pokémon Horizons began airing in Japan today with a one-hour special to kick off this new era of the Pokémon anime. No longer is Ash the hero of the day, but instead, the show is headed up by newcomers Liko and Roy.
The new series has got people talking already, however, and not just for its brand new characters. It looks like a brand new Pokémon is being teased in the show's debut episode, with Serebii sharing a screenshot of the little creature on Twitter.
We say "looks like" and "potential" because it looks quite familiar — at least if you've been keeping up with Pokémon Scarlet & Violet and seen the announcement of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC. have a look for yourself!
This cute little Terastalised turtle, which can be seen with liko and Sprigatito, looks a little bit like Terapagos, the legendary Pokémon of The Indigo Disc, the second part of the upcoming DLC.
With its grey/blue body, crystal-like shell, and even its antenna-type thing, the similarities are pretty obvious. Terapagos is reportedly related to the Terastal phenomenon, and this little turtle in Horizons is surrounded by hexagonal crystal-like shapes.

So it seems likely this is either a baby, pre-evolved Terapagos, an underpowered Terapagos, or a different form for Terapagos. It could be a new Pokémon, or just a new form essentially. Either way, we'll have to wait and see. We'll update you when we get more details on this new Pokémon.
What do you think of this little turtle? Will you be watching the new anime series? Let us know in the comments.

I thought the same thing. Maybe it’s another Cosmog type legendary.
Might even be like Zygarde. Those typing symbols must mean something
That turtle Pokemon is a cheetah (cheater). 🤭
I want to see this big turtle move because from its picture it doesn’t look like a very well done design. I like this new little version better, it looks like it actually has personality.
IT'S HO-OH ALL OVER AGAIN BABY

Very glad my assumption that Terapagos (or at least what appears to be a pre-evo of it) was a tiny bean all along was correct, a fantastic design!
New tutel pokemon
Every generation has a legend...
Every journey has a first step...
Every saga has a beginning...
Stolen from Star Wars! 😁
Hey remember that leak about the last pokemon direct. And how it said the game would be getting a crystal turtle pokemon around the same time as the graphic update releasing for Nintendos next system? Oh boy what a complete coincidence, especially when they got everything else right in their post.
Well i'm a boomer but compared to Moltres and Mewtwo this looks underwhelming
Why can't we watch the Japanese version with subtitles in the US?? Where can I stream this??
Interesting. Definitely related to Terapagos, either a preevolution or some kind of low-power form.
Pokemon came finally to an end for me. I grew up with Ash, the old-school drawing style and the basic Pokemon & evolutions. I didn‘t play any of the new gen games with x different versions of a Pokemon which looks like a mix of a pig and a dog. BDSP will be me companion for a long time I guess. Maybe Nintendo or a third party dev produces another remaster. I really hope so.
@Phipanjo I'd be quite surprised if they didn't remake mainline Pokémon games anymore, next in line should be gen V!
man, i'm not usually one to complain about new pokemon designs, but.... woof. thank god i decided to miss this new generation. kind of sad to say goodbye, but nearly everything about S/V makes it easy to do so, at least. the new designs, the new gameplay, the laughably poor release - at least i still have the back catalog.
this new Pokemon seen to be a pre-evolution of Terapagos
I'll watch the anime, but I'm done with Violet.
I’m just going to say it, I think it looks lame. If it supposed to be a legendary that is. I mean the elements on its shell are cool but other then that, it’s kinda, meh.
At least he would be cute in plushie form!
Errgh, not another evolutionary legendary. They are the worst. Trying to create a living Pokedex with these guys is always such a pain.
@sanguinekhajiit You're missing out. As someone who has played every game since the beginning I would say this is the best one yet. It has a lot of areas for improvement, but I think it'll form a solid base for an even better game for the next mainline release.
@Dazman that's okay - personally, the differences are just not interesting to me. not crazy about any of the new mechanics and the functional differences. i suppose i'd be open to trying the next gen, perhaps, depending on what they change again. nothing about S/V, however, sounds like something i'd be interested in.
but yeah, maybe with a nice coat of polish and a fresher perspective, the next gen will be a good symbiosis of the old and new! cheers
@JohnnyMind I hope you are right! The new Anime and games are not everyones taste. Gen 5 remake or remaster would be great!
