Aspyr Media, Inc. is known for its vast selection of ports, including several Star Wars games on Switch such as Star Wars: Jedi Knight II - Jedi Outcast, Star Wars: Episode I - Racer, and most recently, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.
In a recent tweet, the company has hinted that the classic Rogue Squadron games may see the light of day on Switch, but only if the demand is there.
As a quick refresher, the Rogue Squadron games include Star Wars: Rogue Squadron on the N64, Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader on the Gamecube, and Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike. Developer Factor 5 went bust back in 2009 but has since returned in 2017; however, its involvement with the Star Wars franchise seems unlikely at this time.
Even so, Factor 5's Julian Eggebrecht has added his voice to the discussion:
With the glut of Star Wars games releasing on Switch over the past few years, eventual ports of the Rogue Squadron series isn't entirely out of the question, but it sounds like we might need to ensure our voices are heard to give Aspyr a nudge in the right direction.
Would you want to see ports of the Rogue Squadron series on Switch? Let us know with a comment!

One of my first Nintendo 64 games... would love to see it make a comeback! I remember buying an expansion pack along with... even though I didn't understand what it did at the time 😂
Would love to get that on Switch.
Yes, yes I would. Particularly Rogue Squadron, with the cheat codes intact.
Kotor 2 first
Is it just me who feels like whenever a developer or publisher pulls the "let us know if you want something" line, it's just another way of saying "beg for it, and maybe we'll think about it"?
Those would be my top picks to play again on Switch, hope it happens!
NO! I don't want the Rogue Squadron games on Switch. I want Rogue Leaders, the completed-but-never-released Wii compilation with "The best Battle of Hoth ever created" according to the Factor 5 president.
I loved Rogue Squadron and Battle for Naboo back in the day, but they're really kinda rough to return to now. Even 10 years after release I was amazed how aged they felt, and now it's been nearly 25 years.
But ROGUE LEADER on the other hand... That game REALLY holds up!
Haven't played these games in Donkey's years. I actually still have them in my bedroom, somewhere and I particularly enjoyed Rogue Leader on Gamecube but those Gold medals can do one. If they come to Switch I would only buy them if they were Remade from the ground up otherwise I wouldn't bother.
bring it back Rogue Squadron and Shadows of the Empire
are nostalgic
Lulz. As if they think there wouldn't be demand for it.
Gimme a remake of the n64 game and a remaster of the others.
Do they seriously need to ask? They're my favorite Star Wars games!
I would love to see these. Hopefully they’d include the Naboo star fighter one from the n64 as well.
I have never played a bad Star Wars game. (Although I've played only a few GREAT Star Wars games.)
@Leuke exactly! All the expansion pack got me was tiny aliens in perfect dark and more enemy hordes in gauntlet legends.
Amazing game, so yes.
Please guys. I don’t comment here often but I’m asking a favour of all of you to let your voices be heard about this getting ported. Rogue Leader is the best Star Wars game bar none. It is truly my favourite game of all time and I will never forget the experience I had with it when first playing it on GameCube. You don’t know me, but I’m asking just to show this a little love. It’s that special game for me and it would mean a lot to me if you supported it.
Of course I would. They’re amazing games.
Yes, please! A collection of all three for the Switch would be great, but if I had to pick only one, it would be Rogue Leader.
I would rather we get the old battlefront games put on switch.
Rebel Strike felt ahead of it's time. I'd buy all of them just to get that one.
Do it!!! I’d buy two of them
The co-op one on gamecube was so much fun!
Just commenting to say that "AT-ATtention" was clever and gave me a good chuckle.
Still playing every now and then on the ole N64, so yeh of course bring it on!! And while there at it, bring out all the Gamecube rogue squadrons as well. With switch polish please! PS add in SOTE, bundle it up and call it the do or do not collection. Already pre-ordered in my mind!!
I'd like to see all four games on Switch (battle for Naboo definitely counts), or even a ground up remake of Rogue Squadron, absolutely loved the Sullust and Battle for Mon Calamari missions from the books so seeing those reimagined with today's graphics would be extra special.
Rogue Leader is the dream, isn't it. But I still like the first game. Probably has more of a chance as it came to PC.
Oh nearly forgot, NES Star wars and Empire Strikes Back, and all of the Super Nintendo Star wars trilogy. After all if we now have the Cowabunga Collection coming then this has to be possible as well???
Rogue Squadron 2 still looks amazing today.
A thousand times yes!!!!
And KOTOR 2.
It needs to happen.
I’m a fan of their work so far. Would love to see any of these return, but especially the GameCube games!
I would kill for the original Rogue Squadron on Switch. I think they did a good job with Episode 1 Racer, which was another personal favorite.
Pretty please & thank you.
KOTOR 2 and Rogue squadron are my two I’m looking for. Hopefully it’ll happen.
Yes if they could make it work.
These are the only Star Wars ports that I've ever wanted. The three Rogue Squadron games are amazing.
Honestly, I think there's next to no chance they don't already know the demand is there. Rogue Leader comes up near the top of almost every list of Star Wars games, as well as Best Games on Gamecube. Like, every single time.
Social media is ultra important to these companies, though, and they wouldn't be the first company to engage in some Astroturfing to promote an upcoming product. Because they still need to engage younger players and newcomers and get them hyped. If enough people respond to this, it boosts their social media numbers through the roof, and sales with them.
I think there's a very good chance these games are already in the pipeline.
"Would you want to see ports of the Rogue Squadron series on Switch?"
YES!!
Bring on Rogue Leader!! It would be a minute one!
@blindsquarel
BATTLEFRONT 2 would be amazing. And the unreleased BF3 that RADICAL was working on!
I would have to imagine that the demand for Rogue Squadron on Switch would be pretty high, I know I at least would love it.
I'm not sure if Disney would be down with it, big demand or not... Rogue Squadron added to the N64 app might be a little more likely, but not by much.
I don’t have an active cesspool account, I mean Twitter account, so I can’t reply, but the Rogue Squadron games are the only Star Wars games I really want to own. I really hope this becomes a thing.
Yeeeees! I want it!!!!
@farrgazer I’ll never forget when ATLUS pulled that ***** with Persona games coming to Switch, only to just never bring them to the Switch. They heard the demand and brought P4G to PC instead.
Please do Masters of Teräs Käsi!😜
Out of all the Star Wars games that they've been going back and re-releasing this is the one I would want the most!
Yes, all 3. Maybe even salvage that near complete build of 4 and fix it up for Switch.
@TYRANACLES I’ll really hope that game isn’t forgotten if/when the Rogue Squadron games come. Definitely deserves to be included.
Flying is for droids.
N64/GC games? Of course! The new EA game? I'll pass...
I'd go for those. I'd also go for the old Arce coin-op Star Wars and Super Star Wars Arcade, for that matter (of course I'm not holding my breath).
Of course I would, and all Aspyr would have to do is contact Factor 5, as they've reportedly said they've had the trilogy ready to go in an HD performance since the Wii. They should also include Battle for Naboo.
If it’s coming, it should be in the NSO N64 pack.
I'm all for it, and would prefer a package of Rogue Squadron, the Naboo sequel, Rogue Leader, Rogue Leader 2 and the cancelled Wii game. If they're feeling generous, add the two Jedi Starfighter games.
As it stands, these would be probably rebuilds, and if it was one game to select, it would be Rogue Leader on GC.
Rogue Leader 2 and 3 are an incredible pair that definitely belong together. My only special request is that they put the starship roll control on the right stick rather than using another button to modify the main flight stick.
One of my favorite moments in the series is getting a bonus level in RL3 for charging the Executor SSD in an A-wing and crashing it into the bridge.
And that pair of missions where you shoot down a Star Destroyer and it crashes onto a beach where AT-ATs start spilling out of it and you have to switch to a snow speeder to wrap their legs up, but you have to time it just so because they are emerging out of the water and attacking your on-foot commando team.
YES YES YES!!!!! I would love to see this on the switch, if fact I'd love to see a lot more Star Wars Games on the Switch.
Please let this happen!!!
I would live Star Wars Rogue Squadron II remastered. My fav Star Wars game.
Heck the trilogy would be swell. Come on, why not?!
I love Rogue Squadron but man, it's soooo short. You can literally beat the game in 40 minutes.
I'd kill for a level editor or something.
@Krambo42 this lineup of games are my favorite Star Wars games. Rogue squadron I actually never beat but it’s my very favorite.
Absolutely need this series ported. I assumed all previous console's games were already ported and I bought the switch so I could grind through these classics, but lo and behold, only episode one racer made it. Huge disappointment as the rogue squadron series was Absolutely the best. Not sure if the switch can handle the new release on other platforms of rogue squadron, but if hogwarts made it then there's a chance. I don't follow the legality jargon, nor am I that interested, but all I know is when I was purchasing my switch a week ago I had visions of rogue squadron in my mind only to be left feeling empty. Please bring them over, please! And port way more gamecube titles for God sakes, I assume Nintendo still own them. And pressure triggers... omg should be legally an industry standard like usb-c. K, I'm done.
