Polish company RedDeer.Games – publisher of Switch titles Gem Wizard Tactics, Sword & Bones and Cyber Protocol – has announced that it is entering the world of NFTs.
The company has set up a dedicated NFT department, led by RedDeer.Games' experienced games industry marketing chief Bartłomiej Kossakowski. This department will be supported by an "expert in intellectual property law, previously associated with companies such as The Walt Disney Company and Eurosport." RedDeer.Games adds that "further recruitments of qualified staff, dedicated to the development of NFT-based studio projects" will also take place.
Furthermore, RedDeer.Games has "signed a letter of intent" with a company that specialises in "blockchain, NFT, and DeFi (decentralized finance)." The 'parties' involved have "expressed their will to cooperate on the use of NFT for games published by RedDeer.Games in the play-to-earn model."
Michał M. Lisiecki, co-founder, and CEO of RedDeer.Games, adds:
The trend of producing games based on blockchain technology and non-fungible tokens is more and more common. At RedDeer.Games, the process of implementing NFT will start with simple forms such as trading on the OpenSea platform, to more advanced ones, such as the play-to-earn model, which allows players to earn. The next step will be to create an ecosystem that will allow users to make greater use of DeFi's capabilities and enjoy the transformation to web 3.0. It will all take some time, but "the future is now" and the NFT is a part of it.
The company is also about to seek additional investment, according to the press release published to address the NFT news:
The game development, publishing, and porting segments selected by RedDeer.Games have proved their worth. We intend to continue the adopted business model, expanding it ie. With the aforementioned development of the NFT department and expansion of competences in the production of AA | AAA category games. We are preparing to obtain funds for this purpose from the next private investment round pre-A. The roadshow will run from February 15 to March 31, 2022.
RedDeer.Games other Switch titles include Comic Coloring Book, Clumsy Rush, OMG Police, Nirvana Pilot Yume, Art Sqool, Brawl Chess, Under Leaves and Little Mouse's Encyclopedia.

Ideally people wouldn’t buy NFTs.
In case anyone needed an extra reason to not buy their shovelware.
I wonder if they actually told the devs whose games they publish.
NFTs are a scam, a greater fool scheme. That's all there is too it. They don't allow anything that can't already be done via other safer and less environmentally destructive means (yeah even proof of stake, which most don't use anyway as it's far less secure)
Once again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQ_xWvX1n9g
NFT games are a terrible idea because you cannot recode a token on the blockchain and the network itself is crap for actually storing data. This is why current NFT purchases amount to a link to a webpage with a piece of artwork (or whatever) on it. Of course if said link expires or some sod like me just makes a screenshot of said artwork your NFT link is worthless but I digress.
Thus if you tokenise a load of data and then discover a bug you cannot reopen the original tokens to fix them (non-fungible remember?) you have to make a load of new tokens with the bugs fixed. Owners of the original, bug-ridden tokens will either have to repurchase the bug-fixed tokens or be given the new ones for free and leave a footnote on their original tokens so they do not get resold as there are now 2 (or more) of their supposed 'collectable thing' floating around, one bug-ridden, one not.
Given the state of the current games industry and the day-one patches released for software do you really trust any company to release a game directly onto the blockchain completely bug and glitch-free? Creating some sort of backend blockchain where you can recode or recreate tokens completely defeats the point of using it in the first place and you're back to square one: the networks we have now where things can be changed at a moments notice.
Oh dear. Another company to avoid buying their games from.
I’ve adjusted a small part of what the founder said, to reflect my own personal thoughts:
“The unwanted trend of producing games based on blockchain technology and non-fungible tokens is more and more commonly despised as a mechanism for gauging our customers.
Nevertheless, we are desperately looking at other ways to increase our profit from these poorly-valued tools and can’t wait to gauge our customers.”
Or am I just being overly cynical and unfair? 🙄
The fact that I've never heard of them before is probably why they're getting into NFTs just so they can have that promo material they needed from sites like Nintendo Life publishing it
well that's another company to avoid buying products from. not that it matters, as I never heard of this company nor their games. until i read this article.
Well, that's one publisher I won't buy games from, then.
Okay, guys.
Say HELL NO to NFT.
Don't buy any product with NFT on it.
Tell them we hate NFT things.
I hope they're prepared to die on that hill. That, or this is some kind of elaborate tax wright-off.
NFTs are only part of the future in the demented dreams of money hungry, shortsighted idiots with zero reasonable thought process.
Shovelware publisher pledges fealty to the grift.
Well... It ain't honest, but it's much.
According to Michal they are one of the fastest growing indie companies, and the spiel says they want funding for AA/AAA games when their list looks like something you would find on itunes.
I think I will take this a seriously as it sounds.
Cool, I know not to buy their games now.
Did they pay no heed to the Team17 fiasco last week?
The smaller developers who have had games published under them like ART SQOOL will probably want to have nothing to do with this.
I have cyber protocol, but only because it was in sale for 10 cents.
Isn't the point in NFTs to show off that you "own" something no one else has or to sell at a profit one that you bought who feels the bragging rights are worth more than what you paid for it. Who wants to show off NFTs from this company.
You know what would be a great eshop feature?, an 'avoid publisher' option.
It's already possible to see all the games a publisher has. Which has been great for finding games by publishers I like. But being able to put a publisher in to a black list would help cut down a lot of faff of the store, and publishers are basically screaming "block me!" at this point.
Who? Never heard of 'em.
It's a shame you can't block publishers games from appearing on your eShop.
After seeing their list of games, I agree with their decision.
They definitely need money.
I'm ok with this.
I was interested in buying little bug, ngl (it's a game published by them) but I guess i wont be anymore thats for sure
As for my future, I won't be buying any of their games.
Is it possible to block publishers on the switch shop?
Time to take all 3 RedDeer.Games off my switch eshop wish list and I'm glad I never bought any of there games.
Never heard of them so i dont really care
tldr nfts are bad and this fad will be over by the end of the year
I don't know why you guys are so mad about it. Nobody is forcing you to be participants. Seems like you got a little groupthink going on. I don't plan to buy any, but I'm not going to be a big baby about it and blacklist them over something I never planned to buy anyway. That's my 2 cents.
Another one bites the dust...
Seeing as they say how they are looking to aquire funding for the 'venture' this reads to me more like they see NFT as a quick way to grab some cash from some rich,NFT-loving hoo-ha.
You know like how shareholders sometimes dictate what companies do but the opposite.
And some people are mad because they worry about their hobby being (even more) taken for a ride by the rich and stupid.
It wouldn’t be more heard if we communicated our opinion directly with developers and publishers then behind closed doors?
From what I understand they could make some serious cash with their retro gaming art and the saps who'll buy anything NFT.
“The future is now and the NFT is a part of it”
People from the future will hopefully be very confused when they dig up this post
This might just be a move from them to establish themselves as a real player in the videogame publishing world, because I, like a lot of other commenters here, had never heard of this company. Now we all have thanks to this announcement.
web2.0 kingpins and their foot soldiers hate web3.0 tech because web2.0 kingpins and foot soldiers enjoyed insidious control in inferior web2.0 that they can't have in web3.0.
@BenAV I didn't know these guys were now developing idiocy!
Cue the mandatory "Who?" question.
@ROBLOGNICK that would be an amazing feature. So many crap-shovellers clogging up the eshop pages.
It's good that the article has a list of their games, so I know what to boycott.
Web 3.0 is coming!
And, personally, I hope it will wipe out most of web 2.0 common issues: excessive centralization, lack of control on users personal data, lack of ownership of users generated content, absolute absence of anonymity, advertisments spammed anywhere, digital wallets fully controlled by banks.
It will be revolutionary just as the original vision of the internet/web was meant to be.
I suspect their imminent NFT future will resemble the recent NFT pasts of others.
Serious question - do nft has something to do with offline gaming ?
@falkyn
I would amend your comment to say "web2.0 kingpins and their unwitting foot soldiers"
Why do game companies keep trying to do nft’s even though 99% of people have made it clear they hate it? They aren’t doing themselves any favors. 🤨
(I still don’t know what nft’s are and I’m still worried that I’ll be burnt at the stake for buying games from dev’s and publishers that support them)
Time to rename the site NFTlife
@premko1 no, NFTs have nothing to do with gaming at all.
Never heard of them either. Now I have but I can only associate them with a stupid NFT scam.
Eurgh
Nothing meaningful was lost today.
