... Ehhhh.... I don't really feeeeeel like finishing a game....
/me goes back to sleep
Honestly...this is me lately...dunno what the deal is. Just, keep feeling like going to bed all the time and not caring about video games. (or anything else for that matter)
I go to bed, I wake up a while later. If I don't literally get up in around 3min I fall asleep again. Sometimes the cycle happens around 2 more times.
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
The one thing I think they didn't account for is that many of the biggest name games nowadays are shooters, and many people only get them for the multiplayer. I mean, if I get Goldeneye, there's a chance I won't even touch the single player, because I just want to play multiplayer like I did on the N64.
Honestly, there are too many games I want and too little time. I can get stuck reading more about games than playing them though. I have trouble focusing for long stretches of time too, and then after I take a break, I forget where I was.
Back in the day, it took you about 2 hours to get to the end of a game usually. You just played it over and over again until you finally beat it, but you didn't have to keep track of anything. You just picked it up when you had some time to kill.
For me, I also have to factor in my major suckitude at video games. I would finish more if I had some actual skillz.
I am way too lazy to think of something clever. My Backloggery
Unless it sucks (which isn't a problem as I haven't bought a truly bad game in years), I try to beat every game I own. This is caused me to go through my current N64 collection again and finally beat some of these days. The only games I have left to beat are The World is Not Enough (which can't save), Jet Force Gemini (damn Tribals or whatever those things are) and Diddy Kong Racing. I spent hours trying to get A (or was it S?) rank in every level in Mischief Makers, despite it being pratically impossible, just to unlock some bonus thing I already know doesn't matter. I got all the golden cards in Bomberman 64, unlocked the secret world, somehow beat those unfair levels, and am still trying to get the secret golden cards.
I try to avoid not beating new games. Excitebots is a lost cause in that regard but I should beat that Ghostbusters game someday...oh and a Boy and His Blob.

I am the same way with GoldenEye. I think I am on the fourth level (I think the Night Club is the fourth level anyway) of the single player game. Most I play the multiplayer mode. The only reason I got as far as I did in the Single player mode is I was figuring out the contolls before I did multiplayer mode. While the single player does interest me, I find that when I do have time to play GoldenEye more often then not I am logging on to the multiplayer mode.

I haven't beaten Mass Effect, Oblivion, TWEWY, Crisis Core, Borderlands, Zack & Wiki, Trine and my list goes on and on. But I'm going to beat them all one day. I'm not going to buy a new game until I have finished at least one of them.
Lacking of time is really a problem, I left tons of games without finishing because of time and becaus I might busy then. but video games to me are something for entertainment.
Probably because some developers don't finish them either
In all seriousness it's a combination of things for me including the fact that I simply collect some games with no intent of playing them. It's always nice to have a strong backlog for times when there is nothing 'new' I want to play.
I am quite guilty of this. Of my 76 Wii disc titles, 50 of them are "beatable" and of those I've only actually beat 13 of them. And don't even get me started on Wiiware and DSiWare. The problem with me is that I buy way to many games. On average I probably get at least 1 game a week whether it be downloadable or on disc. I remember one time when I got 6 new games in tht one week alone! One of these days I really just need to buckle down and play through alot of the good unfinished games I have instead of just jumping from one to the other like I tend to do.
According to my backlog, I've beaten more than 25 games in the matter of 90 history updates. I usually update my backlog every other day. I'm sorry, you fail. Try again.

While the sheer number of games certainly adds to this problem, to me it's more than though there are more choices, there is actually less variety. Games end up being more and more cookie-cutter, you end up as a gamer having seen it all before... Making it very simple to give up on a game and go searching for that "new" experience. Which I guess is why I still beat games, but only the ones that have a good story, something to compel the player to continue to play through mechanics they've seen a thousand times before.
Yeah I think that what keeps me advancing in the game, is, or the story, I want to see the end, or the game is sooooo good that I... you know, just finish it, because I reach the end
I have a bad habit of buying more then one game at the sametime or buying another game soon after I buy a game. For example, I bought Madworld on Tuesday then bought No More Heroes on Thursday. Nevergot passed the first level ofMadworld. Today I am forcing myself not to buy a game until I finish one I already have.
