Topic: Tetris Effect

I was unsure about this, the Puyo Puyo x Tetris games were okay...don't think it's not my thing despite being able to play JUST Tetris on those games. But it made me not want to bother with the other modes (also the Puyo side of things, I'm terrible with combos, lol)...

But then I saw the review for Tetris Effect, I kinda want it. Not only that, the Connected mode...I usually don't bother with multiplayer when it comes to going up against each other, but this is basically co-op. I want it...lol

Is that mode really weekends only? That kind of sucks, unless I misheard the review and it was talking about something else.

Anyways, despite playing Metroid Dread and won't stop right now for this game...I'm going to grab this now. Not only is it 25% off for launch, but I also have about $10 in coins...sooooo, yeah. lol

Good choice. Tetris Effect is a masterpiece.

I haven't played the game, but I know that Nintendo owns the Type B song.

Ah well...I did manage to play the Connected mode, kinda sucks that not many people are playing this...I'm never a big fan of Vs. games...but Co-Op? Yes. -w- lol

I actually love Puyo Puyo and Tetris and I especially love crazy mashup puzzle games, so PPT is one of my treasured games on the Switch. I also played a lot of it against and with my daughter, which automatically makes it a top game for me.

I still want to get Tetris Effect Connected, though, because Tetris is just that good a game that I'm down for multiple versions. Plus I love the kind of kinesthetic gaming I'm hearing it described as. Sayonara Wild Hearts was mindblowingly good.

I might just go for this tonight!

@Joeynator3000 By the way, I strongly disagree with the line in the TE review about Tetris DS being "okay". It's a great game in my opinion. If you still play DS games, I really recommend it.

I don't think I'll play it anymore but yeah Tetris DS was also a favorite. This may be my #1 though, mainly because of the music...and the Connected mode.

...Been playing Connected mode...all the other difficulties I basically finished them in one go or so...

...But...freakin' Insane, been trying for a couple of days now...it's a nightmare. x_X

Anyways I think it's there from the start? I haven't messed with it yet.

lol, if they do play games, it's some free mindless puzzle game on mobile. lol

@Sdelintwouters That "classic" style of solo Tetris is the main meat of the game and available from the start, unless you're talking about the graphical presentation. I think that's a skin that needs to be unlocked.

I devoured this a few years ago and very excited to dive back in on Switch. No one should miss this game, game enthusiast or no. Even without VR, it's about as close as you can get to a spiritual experience in a game. Turn down the lights, put on some nice headphones. You're in for a ride.

@Sdelintwouters You'd be better getting Tetris 99 for him and buying the offline modes pack. That's more the 'classic' Tetris I think you're after. Tetris Effect would be wasted I think as the majority of the game is built around visual and sound effects.

@Sdelintwouters How so? Offline has pretty much bare bones Tetris, Marathon mode etc, no opponents?

@Sdelintwouters Paid DLC that turns it into Marathon mode with the same setup/skins as T99. It's 10 USD. Not certain if you still need to have a Switch Online sub to download T99, but you could get by with a free trial to get the download kicked off, or just go the easiest route with a physical copy that includes the DLC.

...Anyone know how to deal with the Insane level in Connected? It's a nightmare...either I have bad luck, another person is just bad...or they don't know how to revive. (or they don't even bother...) >.>

@Joeynator3000 I haven't even attempted Hard level Connected yet, mainly due to the online matchmaking seeming rather quiet (maybe that's just me though). How do I revive a player when the time comes, since there's been no deaths yet in the few Connected matches I've played (Easy and Normal)?

Been spending a lot of time on Countdown and Purify (both Adventurous modes) as of late. Managed to get 362 infected clears in Purify (S rank) at one point, probably my favourite mode right now.

@Shadeon_Koopa It's not you...It apparently takes a while to find people...Even with cross-play on.

But yeah, a few days later and I'm STILL trying Insane, I apparently have the worst luck especially on the 2nd battle. Even if we do get past the second phase, the final is where everything falls apart in an instant for me...I don't know if there's a trick to beating it or if it's just pure luck. T.T

All the other difficulties I barely had any trouble with, too.

@Joeynator3000 I assume Insane is Stage 5? Just tried Stage 4 (Very Hard) earlier and lost on the final boss, thanks to its annoying 'Hide Field' ability. On Stage 3 (Hard), one teammate wasn't hard-dropping pieces at all, for whatever reason.

On the plus side, I've now figured out how to self-revive (seems to take a while pulling it off though).

Yeah the revive can take a while, it also depends on everyone else since they can help speed things up.
