What does Free Play even mean on Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Edition Arcade Mode? Why can’t I play vs. a CPU, like you normally do on SFIV for the PS3? And why does the fighter not play against me on Offline Versus Mode? All I do is win a perfect match all the time! I wanted single player mode since I don’t have an online account but there isn’t any here.
Update: I just discovered the Negative Button on the upper left joy con activates Arcade Mode from Free Play to actually playable!
This thread reminded me that I wish we had a modern Street Fighter on Switch...I put a ton of hours into SF30th and Ultra SF 2 but I wish capcom would bring SF IV to Switch
@adorhino Petition won't matter. Sony fianced Street Fighter V so the chances of them bringing it to a Nintendo console is a snowball's chance in hell.

Seems like ever since any street fighter after SF 2 the series has always got the shaft on Nintendo platforms. That switch compilation was decent but really should have at least included SF IV. I mean the 3DS even got it though in a sorta half assed way.

I never understood the lack of N64 Street Fighter games.
Switch is lacking in fighting games, period, particularly proper 3D ones like Tekken, Soul Calibur and Dead Or Alive of which there are NONE apart from maybe Pokken which still doesn't play like most 3D fighters. I'm AMAZED nobody has filled that huge gap in the market. Even Wii U had a Tekken game. ☹️
@Clyde_Radcliffe
Nintendo Switch needs Boxing / Kickboxing games such as K-1 or Animal Boxing NDS, like during PS1, PS2 and GBA era. Or like Sports Champions 2 PS3 / Deca Sports Freedom XBOX 360.
@Clyde_Radcliffe I think (amongst other issues like Nintendo actively telling 3rd parties to go to hell) there were technical reasons underpinning it. The 2d Street Fighter games at the time used so much storage - those were big sprites with lots of frames of animation. They would have required large cartridges.
The PlayStation also had trouble with 2d fighters because it lacked the right type of memory/not enough of it to load all of the frames of animation (the Saturn was always the console for 2d fighters). Just because the N64 was so accomplished at moving polygons doesn’t mean it would have been the best fit for 2d fighting games (from memory the only one released was a seriously strange one from Konami).
The controller was probably also a factor. Some fighting games (among other games) tried to use the c buttons for actions but they were really dreadful for that purpose.
Folks can petition all they like, it won't be ported elsewhere.

@adorhino
At this point, when 1 game cannot be ported to Nintendo due to licensing issue or exclusive contract, just pick the version that you can play it right now.
I have learnt from The Sims 4 PS4 situation, EA will not port The Sims 4 for Nintendo Switch so i stop crying / begging around, i pick the PS4 version and it saves my day.
For what it's worth, I have purchased SF 30th Anniv. Ed and Dragon Ball Fighterz (which is on sale now for only $10 from a hefty $59.99) just last night. As long as both perform well on our gaming platform of choice and is fun to play, there's really no need to complain or ask for more. I still have Ultra SFIV on the PS3 and it's absolute eye candy gameplay! I don't miss it at all although SFV would do well on the Switch, I suppose. I appreciate all your input though. It has been eye-opening for me who doesn't know the ins and outs of the gaming trade.
@adorhino Yeah pretty much Capcom was done with Street Fighter but Sony paid them to make Street Fighter V I think it may have been response to MS releasing Killer Instinct on the Xbox One.
Basically what it came down to was fighting game tournament Nintendo had Smash Bros for the pro fighting game scene and MS had Killer Instinct so Sony wanted something so they paid Capcom for it.

It's actually quite a good time for fighting games on a Nintendo Console. There was a good chunk of time where the only thing playable was Tatsunoko Vs Capcom and Guilty Gear XX.
Now we've got DBFZ, Samurai Shodown, Under night, bbtag, power rangers plus a host of retro stuff.
Unfortunately I don't think we'll get Tekken or Soul Calibur, as Tekken Tag Tournament barely ran on Wii U.
@Tasuki Now you make me inquisitive about Killer Instinct on the XBox. I think I like Fighting games for the fast gameplay and overall look, not that I’m exactly an expert at them. It’s a little sad to hear there will be no more development for the Street Fighter franchise though. The last two iterations, SFIV and SFV look really cool and over the top! Total eye Candy! Perfect!
