I mean if you look at it this way, the Switch technically had a very short "reveal" window. While we got a trailer showcasing the console itself back in October, we didn't know anything about the specs or what the console could do until January- with the system releasing in March.
At this point in time we're at the same point in the marketing cycle. The concept of the console isn't introduced, yes- but given it's core concept is the same as the switch originally was, all they'd have to do is skip to showcasing it at it's own event alongside the games they plan on launching it with. They definitely could launch it in April, especially seeing as it's already being produced.
No, no it isn't. The Switch concept was actually leaked ahead of that October trailer too, there was a Eurogamer article that did a mockup of the concept back in July.
Granted there were a lot less (I don't think any IIRC) leaks corroborating it, but that's still a leak where the concept was revealed before Nintendo officially revealed it. So where we are is comparable to that July-October period, not October-January. Also, beyond just the concept, the Switch showed us something else that we currently do not know about: games. There were teasers for BotW, Mario Odyssey, MK8D, and Splatoon 2 showed in the trailer. We don't know a single game coming to Switch 2 yet (we have rumors about an open world 3D Mario yet, but it hasn't been leaked to hell to the point where it's practically confirmed like the hardware).
Trying to justify April is just copium at this point. It's not going to happen, mark my words. June at the earliest.
Well, looks like those January 8th reveal rumors were wrong. It's just getting rediculous that they won't reveal the thing.
Technically the rumour was for either the 8th or 9th, possibly because of timezone confusion. Also the rumour was for either a Switch 2 presentation or a new xenoblade X trailer. So who knows, maybe we'll get the X trailer and the leakers will feel satisfied and we can go back to waiting forever 😆
@SplatRay001 I want to be wrong, but based on the X page for NOA, it’s all Donkey Kong. I bet that if we get anything in Jan, it’s going to be after next week (after the game releases).
@Bolt_Strike Given all the accessory companies are in agreeance that it's coming out in April, I'm more inclined to believe that. Also- while the Switch was leaked before that first initial trailer, the concept itself was brand new. Hence the rest period. The Switch 2 has the same basic concept, and thus doesn't exactly need a reveal trailer all to itself. They could get away with announcing it right at a presentation that's akin to the January Switch Presentation. Hell, they could even get away with just doing a direct that opens up with an official reveal and showcases games that are going to be running on the console along with the functions that Switch 2 brings to them.

@MrCarlos46 Those two are just accessories and SD cards- but it's interesting to see that they're pretty much already gearing up for things. Also the price for that SD card is insanely high.

@VoidofLight Hopefully they figure something so there’s less of a chance it melts.
By the way, here is something I wanna see Nintendo do for Switch 2 game covers: Unify them for the US/Latin America, Canada and Mexico like how they did it back with the Wii and Wii
