Re: Review: Kirby Air Riders (Switch 2) - Incredibly Chaotic, But Satisfyingly Deep & Rewarding Racing

Yoshi3

@Hawkes142 I've played fast Fusion actually... but there's something that just doesn't click for me in relation with F-Zero GX ... I don't know if its the camera perspective, the size of the racers, the movement of it not being as smooth, or the tracks, or the soundtrack.

Don't get me wrong, they are good games... its just that they seem more like just a futuristic racer with an F-Zero skin... but it resembles something more aking to G-Force or Wipeout.

I don't feel the F-Zero GX crazyness in the tracks or the aggresiveness against other racers.

Re: Capcom Has "No Plan" At This Stage For A Resident Evil Requiem Demo

Yoshi3

Resident Evil has been a staple of quality since the beginning. The only blunder in the main series has been ONE game… only one in a total of about 20 games. That’s quite an impeccable trajectory for an IP.
And 6 was even a decent fun game but with a messed up setting and theme. Just not quite as high quality as the other REs.

So… tbh I don’t think people even need a demo. If you’re into RE you know it’s mostly certified to be a great game.
I’d rather have the team work on something else to add to the actual game than preparing a demo.

@ImpromptuR these results come from the ranking of Nintendolife readers ... not from an editor or writer... which better reflect what people think about each single entry overall

Re: Best Zelda Games Of All Time

Checks TOTK position went from #1 to #8 in only 2 years and not even because a newer Zelda bumped it down from its spot

Yep... checks out... it was a honeymoon phase....

Re: Poll: What Do You Make Of Link And Zelda's Live-Action Looks?

Yoshi3

I'm glad Link is using classic green.

As for Zelda... the blue outfit is ok if she is having a more active role. Using a royal robe out in the open wouldn't make any sense.

Anyway... I'm ready for dissapointment ... if it turns out great then awesome... but I will not get high hopes after all the dumpster fire that has been the Zelda IP lately for me.

Re: "I Just Hope To Stay Healthy" - Shigeru Miyamoto On Taking Further Steps Away From Development

Yoshi3

@HammerKirby I agree with you and that they maybe weren't intended for us to 100%... ... but maybe that's why BotW and TotK are the lesser Zeldas for me... I'm pretty sure I will never play those games again because I got fed up on them during my runthrough.... but completed them anyways.
I would have added more meaningful and more variety in activities and collectibles rather than just put hundreds and hundreds of samey stuff all over the world.
Whereas other games (other Zelda and Mario games) it's an enjoyment to go back to. They are just waaaaay more accessible and have more replayability.
These new ones sometimes are just too much. Sometimes 30 hour condensed games are better than 120+ hour games that become repetitive.
And the same happened with Bananza... just like Oddisey... GREAT games.... too much drag in the post-game... which in my opinion is just bad design.

Re: "I Just Hope To Stay Healthy" - Shigeru Miyamoto On Taking Further Steps Away From Development

Yoshi3

@HammerKirby I mean, if I had deepened the comment about BotW it would have been huge.
But let me clarify. BotW I can understand, It indeed was a bit relaxing. However I meant things like Koroks for example. TOTK on the other hand went overboard with the collectibles and the methods of its mechanics.

Nobody wants to find and complete 100 puzzles of gluing some wooden planks for a guy. Or finding 60 wells in such a huge land. Or 1000 koroks. 80% of the times involving the same mechanic... Ultrahand. That’s just an uninspired and nuts way to inflate the gaming time.

For me, personally… gaming is about quality … not quantity and repetitive tasks spread over hundreds of hours. That's work.

Re: "I Just Hope To Stay Healthy" - Shigeru Miyamoto On Taking Further Steps Away From Development

Yoshi3

@N00BiSH dude you’re complaining about having to find things in a collectathon. Sure, not all blue coins are a winner… but it’s still better than grinding. Waaaay better. Some can be tedious, sure, but not mundane or repetitive.

And no, it’s 999 moons. Sure, the reward is just minor (but that’s 100%)
Just as minor as in Sunshine or 64.
If you just want to finish the game, sure, just go for 70 stars or 124 moons. But for the real 100%, which has been our argument here… again… actual gameplay and “pixel hunting” …. Or 3-5 hour grinding?

It’s your choice. I definitely know which one I prefer.

Re: "I Just Hope To Stay Healthy" - Shigeru Miyamoto On Taking Further Steps Away From Development

Yoshi3

@N00BiSH it IS needed to 100% the game. You 100% the game when you reach 1000 moons or bananas. If you’re using that argument then in Mario 64, if you just wanted to finish the game then you don’t need to find 100 coins in each level… you can still finish the game at 70 stars.

So, wrong again.

And collecting 100 coins is neither pixel hunting nor grinding. Come on, like I said, there’s packs of 5 and 10 coins scattered in the levels. If you find that particularly difficult, then I don’t know what to say. You can easily complete all 100-coin challenges in 30-60 minutes.

Grinding for those extra moons and Bananas? Mhhh around 3 hours repeating ad nauseum.

Re: "I Just Hope To Stay Healthy" - Shigeru Miyamoto On Taking Further Steps Away From Development

Yoshi3

@N00BiSH if you’re not saying that… then why are you even arguing?

Let me know… which is more of a slog:
Collecting 100 coins 10 times?
Or grinding for 5 hours in the same spot, doing the same mundane task that nets you more coins to buy 200 moons or bananas?
Which actually stands as a challenge and requires actual gameplay?

I’ll let you think about that one.

And I love collectathons. My favorite games are Banjo Kazooie and, as I said, I love all Marios.

Does grinding 200 moons and bananas get a pass because of that?
No it doesn’t. It’s just bad post-game design. And it’s just to artificially make the game last longer.

Re: "I Just Hope To Stay Healthy" - Shigeru Miyamoto On Taking Further Steps Away From Development

Yoshi3

@N00BiSH LMAO you’re complaining about 10…. 10 stars in a game… If that were the case I could easily find 10 moons in Oddisey that are worse or in the same level of a slog.
And… buying “collectibles” (if that’s your term) is so sooooo wrong in so many levels. First they are not “collectibles”. At the start they are but At the 800th or so point they just become a number, there’s no interactivity with it, there’s no fun, there’s no actual gameplay or challenge to obtain the rest of them. You just go and find whatever spot grinds you coins quicker and repeat for about 50-100 times. That’s the worst SIN in a videogame, let alone a Mario or DK game.

And really? You needed a guide for Mario 64?
Really???? 🤣
You could find the 100 coins in most of the missions, because the missions didn’t affect the level design in 90% of the cases.

And the green stars at least required you to actually find hidden spots in the levels.

Is grinding a spot in a videogame for 2-3 hours (if you’re lucky) doing the same mundane task fun?
I’ll save you the answer NO. IT ISNT. It’s a waste of everyone’s valuable time to 100% a game.

Ohh… and if you think buying 200 stars or moons, without real, fun gameplay involved, is “engaging” and a “mechanic” … then ooohhh boy, that just tells me you know nothing about gaming design.

Re: "I Just Hope To Stay Healthy" - Shigeru Miyamoto On Taking Further Steps Away From Development

Yoshi3

@N00BiSH 100 coins vs 1000 thingies? Really?
And 100 coins? When they are spread in mostly 5-10 packs across a level? You do those challenges in like 5-10 min. And there are only like 10 of them.

Also, green stars are far better than “buying” 200 moons or bananas from a store just to reach 100%.

At least they don’t feel like grinding, like with Koroks or the stated “challenges” above.

Don’t get me wrong, Oddisey was fun… but it wasn’t planned that well towards the post-game. There was A LOT of grinding. And grinding and Mario shouldn’t even be used in the same sentence.

@NintendoWife I 100% agree with your last comment.

Re: "I Just Hope To Stay Healthy" - Shigeru Miyamoto On Taking Further Steps Away From Development

Yoshi3

Sometimes you just need to go back to basics.
Make fun, short, condensed games. You don’t need to convert DK, Mario and Zelda into 130 hour long slog games where you need to collect 1000 shimamaniganins.
Mario 64, Sunshine and Galaxy are the best because they ALWAYS felt fun during its run and never turned into a chore. Sometimes modern gaming feels like work and that’s something I’ve been seeing with these new younger teams touching existing IP. Maybe because this new generation of streamers, influencers and pro-gamers actually DO see games as work, which is ABHORRENT in my opinion.
Games should be fun… not work.

If the next Mario is open world and need to collect 2000 stars just because they need to artificially expand the game’s runtime like BOTW and TOTK…. Then I’m out.

Hope the new teams learn from Miyamoto’s past philosophies instead of just pursuing contemporary trends.
That’s not the Nintendo I fell in love with.

Re: Persona 5 Series Sales Just Won't Slow Down As Games Soar Past 13 Million

Yoshi3

@Lizuka you can download it on Steam for free. 😉
At least the download size is better on a PC than on a phone.

It’s got great reviews too. If you’ve been invested in the P5 universe you shouldn’t miss out on that one.

I haven’t played it yet either, as I’m waiting on the story to go a bit further… and because backlog reasons, but everyone says it’s good.

Re: "Jill / Chris Would Be More Befitting" - Resident Evil's Obsession With Lady D. Is Getting Fans Riled Up

Yoshi3

It’s not the first time RE has put its monsters in the spotlight. Happened with Nemesis, happened with Birkin, happened with the Baker family and now Lady D.
Hell, even Nemesis earned its spotlight in Marvel vs Capcom at the same time as Chris and Wesker.

In a franchise about Biohazards… it really isn’t surprising when the actual Biohazards are front and center.

Re: Opinion: One Year On, Every Positive 'Pokémon TCG Pocket' Update Still Comes With A Catch

Yoshi3

Hope they REALLY fix Wonder Pick because it’s pretty much useless. Rare cards appear like 1% of the time and even then you have to pick the correct one, which leaves you at a miserable 0.2% of actually getting something while they force you to check 5-10 times a day if there’s something in it of actual value.

They should also open up pack points across all boosters. Nobody is gonna reach 1,250 points in those single booster sets.
Get real DENA.
