The story of CommanderVideo? That ought to be interesting. Is this coming from Gaijin, or is this what you think happened, because quite frankly, this whole series is a bit open ended. Maybe something happens in FLUX that I just don't know about yet.....
EDIT: But it's nice to here there'll be a bunch of BIT.TRIP nuggets coming this week. Love that you guys cover BIT.TRIP so much, so many sites just don't give it the time of day.
Exactly as I anticipated. Better than BEAT is what I was hoping for. I'm not expecting an insanely significant jump in quality, but it sounds like they put in their all. I finally just beat all of the first 5 BIT.TRIP games, so bring it on! On Monday :/
Don't know if I'll be getting 3DS at launch, but that does look like a good lineup. Pilotwings is the only one that I know I'd want, but there's a bunch of maybes on that list so at probably least 2 more I'll end up wanting.
Was really hoping for next week since it's school vacation week (I've said this like 3 times so I'll stop now....) but as long as I don't have to wait too much longer!
Hey wait, that's my birthday!! Or at least when I celebrate is on these years....
I seriously hope we get FLUX next week. It's school vacation for me, and I THINK most of America, so if it comes out I'll actually have time to play it (doesn't happen all that often....).
I would comment, but Token Girl said it all. There's plenty of DSiWare that would be overpriced at $1 but is instead being sold for more than that. Actually there are some Wii retail games being sold for $40-$50 that would be overpriced at $1. At least these things are actually $1.
You know what's a real risk? Making a game for DSiWare. You have no say in the price, you can't offer discounts, and the users simply aren't there. Maybe that's why most iOS games are better than the majority of DSiWare?
EDIT: Almost forgot. Nintendo has competition, thus it's a risk for the industry.
As for gameplay, well I enjoyed BEAT so I will likely enjoy this. I'm liking the idea of beats you have to avoid, though it doesn't look like there's a whole lot of new outside of some new powerups and the checkpoints. Oh well, this game will still be amazing.
By the way.... Mario Kart Wii and NSMB (DS) have each sold 26 million. NSMB Wii has sold 21 million (though it was partially bundled) Wii Party sold over 5 million during it's first 3 or so months. And other things I can't remember....
@Atomic Wii Man Because the game is fantastic and such a blast to play. Just because it's not an incredibly deep experience with a 50 hour story mode doesn't mean it can't be fun. There's a reason this series wasn't just a one and done in terms of sales, the way most other shovelware games on the Wii were.
The DS will continue to sell through AT LEAST the rest of this year. Even with the 3DS right around the corner, it's sales are still up there with those of the Wii. Also, the PS2 sold for years after the PS3 was released. Heck, it's still selling, though not all that much.
Everyone complains that Nintendo doesn't make enough new franchises and then when they launch a system with a new franchise everyone complains that their 2 most common franchises ever aren't launching the system. You'll never be happy.
I don't like when developers put in stupid achievements that either aren't any fun to get or I'm going to get them no matter what as long as I play the game. Certain games are more suited to achievements than others. If game makers want to put in their own achievements, they're perfectly capable of still putting them in, it's been done before.
Don't know where the "only 3 launch titles" is coming from (keep in mind I just got here) but if all THAT will be available during the first 3 months than it sounds pretty good to me!
@Geybrush True, but this is a game that had advertisements on GASP! television!!! When a big company like EA doesn't put out TV ads and then complains that the game isn't selling, I wonder who on earth is running EA's marketing department.
@TrueWiiMaster For whatever reason, NPD started doing that a few months ago, they combine all versions of multiplatform games, and also stopped posting sales numbers (though sales for many games, such as Epic Mickey, get leaked anyway). I believe it was said that Just Dance 2 actually would've been number 1 if they devided the various versions of Block Ops up.
Pretty much agree entirely. Runner for WiiWare and Galaxy 2 for, well, everything that it won, are no question in my mind. I didn't buy the DSiWare version of Cave Story but based on the WiiWare version I agree with the pick. Most of the other categories I can't fairly comment on. By the way, I just realized that I forgot to send in my picks, thanks to me (I guess failed) attempt to figure out my DS game of the year. Oh well, Galaxy 2 will likely still win anyway.
"And to my knowledge the new Zelda has been moved to 2012."
Um, nobody from Nintendo has said that, so I don't know how YOU could know that. If there was in fact a time when it was said, please provide a link, but don't just say something that you aren't sure of.
As for things that I'm interested in: Wii: Mario Sports Mix, Skyward Sword, Super Meat Boy? (sadly unlikely) DS: Kirby DS. That's it. 3DS: A bunch of stuff. WiiWare: FLUX FLUX FLUX FLUX, La Mulana, Retro City Rampage. DSiWare: No idea.
Which is an opinion...... I find the Metroid Prime games boring but I don't go around Metroid Prime forums/new stories stating my opinion as fact. Some of us here find the Bit.Trip games to be brilliant. tbd already covered the "milking" comment.
"And there are some big gameplay twists in this one that sets it far apart from the original BEAT."
Yes! I mean, I loved BEAT, but I love how each Bit.Trip game has been something new, gameplay-wise. Thanks for the heads up Corbs, even if you can't tell us what those twists actually are.
Well they did say it was BEAT backwards in some article thingy somewhere but I still kind of hope they do more. Don't get me wrong I love BEAT and would still probably buy this even if it were just some "BEAT backwards" kind of gameplay but I've always loved how they always switch everything up in all the games so far and never just stick with the same thing. But there could obviously be something they aren't telling us.... maybe...... Can we haz a trailer now?
Never really had the others, played TV Party at a friends house a few times but that's about it. IMO this sounds great! I asked for it for Christmas and will probably get it whenever it is I get my present from my aunt.....
Hmmm, hard to say but probaby SOMETHING from Galaxy 2, my favorite game of all time. Hard to say what part. Though it was probably when I FINALLY beat the 242nd star. Or maybe when I first played the Yoshi Star Galaxy. Or maybe that moment when SPOILER Bowser popped up at the VERY last second before I could get the star, tricking me into thinking I was actually going to get that star at that moment. /SPOILER Or... or..... man that game was awesome.
Anyway this one's easy for me. 2006. The year of the Wii. Oh how badly I wanted one. But as many of ou probably remember, they were selling like crazy and therefore very hard to find. My mom searched and searched, but eventually I wound up with an IOU under the tree (among various other things of course ).
2 days pass and my mom goes to Target to return something that wasn't working. She never went there with the intention of finding a Wii as she was walking she suddenly noticed one sitting on a shelf. I wasn't there, but she told me she (pretty much) had the following conversation with the guy working there: Her: ....Is that a Wii? Worker: ...yeah. Her: Is it for sale?! Worker: Yes, it is. Her: Is there something wrong with it!?! Worker: ....no... Her: Can I buy it?!?!??!?!?! Worker: Of course.
As you can tell, she was kind of in shock. After she finally calmed down enough to ask someone, she found out that the store had recieved a shipment of more than 20 Wiis a mere hour before she picked this one up. Not that they lasted long or anthing: There were only 3 left when she bought it, and this was after Christmas to boot.
So eventually she arrived home from the store, and placed the Wii box on our stairs. She told me to go get something upstairs, but I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw the Wii. I couldn't even believe what I was looking at, and after recovering from my shock, my reaction was NINTENDO SIXTY FOOOOOOOOOOUR-esque (well, mabe not quite.... ). I hooked it up all by myself (to 10-year-old me it seemed like an accomplishment ), and played Wii Sports for hours upon hours over the next week of school vacation, with numerous friends coming over to make Miis and join in on the fun.
Advertise, advertise, advertise! C'mon EA, it's not like you're a small company with not a lot of money. You can do it! Also, similar to what XC Warrior said, don't give the Wii watered-down ports/not as good versions.
Also, a price cut (at the moment) will do nothing. The Wii was still HUGE in America in November and I have a feeling that December's sales will be completely insane. Besides, how would this help third parties? It might help Wii sales, but I'm doubtful of how it would help third parties.

Such a magnificent series, can't wait to see what Gaijin has in store in the future.
3DS game possibly by this summer?! Ohhhh maaannnn.
Re: Features: The History of BIT.TRIP, Part 2
Another brilliant entry. I love reading these, and I love that Gaijin has given so much information on what has happened. Can't wait for part 3!
Re: Features: The History of BIT.TRIP, Part 1
Love reading this. Such a great series and such a great developer. Best wishes to come for Gaijin. BIT.TRIP was magnificent.

Story in Bit.Trip games is generally difficult to explain. At least without getting all spoiler-y.

Re: Miyamoto Can't Wait to Show Off Super Mario Bros. 3DS
@Koops3 The 26 million people who bought NSMB on DS (and the 21 million who bought NSMB Wii) would probably beg to differ.

I feel like when he says "new Super Mario Bros." he's reffering to "New Super Mario Bros."
