@Anti-Matter there are a lot of fun family games on Xbox & PS as well you know. Nintendo don't have the monopoly on them. I'm currently playing Ratchet & Clank and it's a cracking game.
@Marce2240 You're right but that would be a massive change for Nintendo to head down that darker, more mature route, look what happened with Devil's 3rd. I love Nintendo but it's going to take a massive shift in development and marketing for them to recover their use base.
A lot of people are missing the point. If the NX can't convert the masses of Xbox & PS with power & 3rd party support, this console, sales wise, will fail.
Can they afford another Wii U? I don't think so. Because of this, I think they are aiming for the Wii user. I expect either a casual system or another gimmick.
@Marce2240 unfortunately power is important to the modern Xbox, PC & Playstation gamer, just read the console war forums. Those gamers aren't interested in Mario, Zelda etc and especially aren't interested in a system that isn't as powerful as the one they currently have.
The reality is that gaming has moved on. Nintendo's games, although excellent & fun, aren't as popular as COD, Battlefield, Uncharted, Halo, Forward etc. It's a sad reality.
@Marce2240 The reason I asked? Because Neo & Scorpio will launch in the same year as the NX. Add in the fact that Nintendo would have to get existing PS4 & Xbox One gamers to come over to their console. If the NX has the same power as the Xbox One, why would they do that?
@Marce2240 Neo & Scorpio will get their own games, don't believe the "please keep buying our current consoles" BS they are spouting. Developers will win out and develop games for those consoles alone.
"And certainly there are other factors, like third-party content. Our mission is to create the largest install base possible so that third-party developers will want to bring their content to our systems."
That paragraph shows that Nintendo haven't got a clue how to market their machines in 2016. You can't expect the NX user base to grow large enough for EA, Ubi, Activision etc without those companies at launch.
They also have to ask themselves, where did the Wii U go wrong? The answer, it's lack of power, party chat, apps & 3rd party support.
With Neo & Scorpio around the corner, I honestly think it's time they drop their hardware division and develop their games for other consoles & PC.
@thehoppypoppy maybe the new 3ds is a stop gap. I love mine but there aren't many games that take advantage of the upgrades. Well at the moment anyway.
@dkxcalibur It is but what worries me is the fact that a few gamers will hold off buying it or stupidly invest in PS4 Neo, Xbox 1.25 & VR, so they won't have the money to buy a NX.
@peeks if it is then it will sort of be a Wii U where the controller is a portable. Surely the portable part wouldn't be as powerful as the home console so we'd get mini games or downgraded versions to play on the move.
@Dr_Corndog it's more to do with the way consumers are now used to upgrading their tech every year or 2. Phones, tablets even some TV's. It's sad but it's the way it is.
Launching in March 2017 is a marketing disaster. PS4.5 and PSVR will sell out at Xmas and people will still be picking them up as the new stock hits the shelves.
Add to that the fact that a lot of people will get a Xbox One or PS4 for Xmas and only a fool would say that launching a new console 3 months afteis a great idea.
Sure we as Ninty fans will buy the console, barring any crazy Nintendo gimmicks, but PlayStation & Xbox fans won't jump ship to Nintendo. Not unless Nintendo roll out a specs busting power house of a console with 3rd party exclusive that no gamer can be without.
I hope Nintendo blow us away with the NX but even if they do, a post Xmas launch could be more damaging than delaying it until November or December 2017.
I've been using Miitomo for over a week now and I'm sad to say it's aimed squarely at kids. It asks be questions like what's happening at school, who do you fancy etc.
I love Nintendo but I'm worried about their new persistence with games/apps aimed at kids and that it will carry over to the NX, making it a platform that won't be taken seriously.
I reckon this could be a Nintendo Android gaming device. Nintendo probably won't release a Smartphone, so if this is real, that's what my money is on.
Mobile gaming is huge and Nintendo know that more than anybody else. The new handheld running Android is the perfect way for Nintendo to corner the market.
I'm predicting a Christmas 2017 release for NX with Nintendo announcing some form of augmented reality, similar to MS Hololens.
VR fits well within the anti social arena that Sony & MS offer. The number of split/shared screen games on the PS4 & Xbox One have dwindled whereas Nintendo continues to offer it with games such as Mario Party, SSB, Mario Bros U etc.
I hope Nintendo continue along the well established path and launch a home console for family & friends, not for virtual buddies only.

@Marce2240 it could do but with Nintendo already starting that specs aren't important, do you think that's going to happen?
Re: Nintendo Outlines Key Goals to Ensure NX Success
@Achoo Tell that to Sony's execs who are rolling in cash right now.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo's Next Generation Handheld Is Codenamed "MH"
I can see it running Android so they can integrate it with releases for Smartphones.

@TheRedCap30 me too. It's a long wait though.
Re: Tatsumi Kimishima Reiterates That Nintendo NX Is A New Way Of Playing Games
@thehoppypoppy poor you I can just about cope with the new version but sometimes it leaves me cross eyed.
Re: Tatsumi Kimishima Reiterates That Nintendo NX Is A New Way Of Playing Games
@Danrenfroe2016 what I meant was does the tech exist in a small enough form factor to fit into a handheld?
Re: Tatsumi Kimishima Reiterates That Nintendo NX Is A New Way Of Playing Games
@thehoppypoppy I upgraded just because of the 3d system.
Re: Tatsumi Kimishima Reiterates That Nintendo NX Is A New Way Of Playing Games
My take is that the NX will be a mobile device, a handheld that either plugs into the TV or has a built in wireless HDMI sender.
I'm not sure if the tech is out there though.

@TheRedCap30 nice avatar.
Re: Tatsumi Kimishima Reiterates That Nintendo NX Is A New Way Of Playing Games
One thing to think about is, how will we be playing the new LoZ in "a new way"?
Riding an Epona controller? Smashing vases with a master sword?
Re: Tatsumi Kimishima Reiterates That Nintendo NX Is A New Way Of Playing Games
@RupeeClock agreed. The Wii U was an unknown and it hurt sales.
I don't see how holding info until a few months before launch can benefit the NX.
PS & Xbox built the hype well in advance.

@arnoldlayne83 I hope so too but it doesn't sound like it.
Re: Tatsumi Kimishima Reiterates That Nintendo NX Is A New Way Of Playing Games
@Thegentleman full body motion control. You wear a suit full of sensors which give you electric shocks if you get hit. They vary in strength.

Re: Tatsumi Kimishima Reiterates That Nintendo NX Is A New Way Of Playing Games
@Peterjr1 The Wii U died a long time ago so they couldn't keep it going if they tried.
Re: Tatsumi Kimishima Reiterates That Nintendo NX Is A New Way Of Playing Games
@MrGawain you will also be able to buy a hook-a-duck version as well.
Re: Tatsumi Kimishima Reiterates That Nintendo NX Is A New Way Of Playing Games
I've been saying all along that NX may not be a traditional console. I don't think we're going to get a console with a standard controller or design.
God knows what Nintendo have made but I think they might go casual again. The Wii was a massive success for them.
Re: Rumour: Retro Studios is Working on a New IP, Releases 2017
For the sake of the NX it needs to be a new IP.
Re: Reaction: The NX Release in March 2017 and How It Changes the Game
@Dr_Corndog it's not for more either. I'm not interested in a new PS4 but we could be in the minority or Sony could have pissed off a lot of fans.

@Yorumi point taken. I did hold off on the WiiU but I finally gave in.

Re: Rumour: New Nintendo NX Controller Images Surface and Set the Web Alight
@jwfurness Not instead of. It could be a new venture. They have released Miitomo and have said they will invest in mobile apps/games.
We'll still get a home console but it could be the handheld.

@PlywoodStick Ok. I can see that your definition of job is rather different than mine. He plays games as most of us do. It's a hobby, not a job.

Re: Talking Point: Sony's PlayStation VR Launch Adds Pressure to Nintendo's Holiday - and Perhaps NX - Plans
