Re: Nintendo Outlines Key Goals to Ensure NX Success

@Marce2240 You're right but that would be a massive change for Nintendo to head down that darker, more mature route, look what happened with Devil's 3rd. I love Nintendo but it's going to take a massive shift in development and marketing for them to recover their use base.

A lot of people are missing the point. If the NX can't convert the masses of Xbox & PS with power & 3rd party support, this console, sales wise, will fail.

Can they afford another Wii U? I don't think so. Because of this, I think they are aiming for the Wii user. I expect either a casual system or another gimmick.

@Marce2240 unfortunately power is important to the modern Xbox, PC & Playstation gamer, just read the console war forums. Those gamers aren't interested in Mario, Zelda etc and especially aren't interested in a system that isn't as powerful as the one they currently have.

@Marce2240 The reason I asked? Because Neo & Scorpio will launch in the same year as the NX. Add in the fact that Nintendo would have to get existing PS4 & Xbox One gamers to come over to their console. If the NX has the same power as the Xbox One, why would they do that?

"And certainly there are other factors, like third-party content. Our mission is to create the largest install base possible so that third-party developers will want to bring their content to our systems."

That paragraph shows that Nintendo haven't got a clue how to market their machines in 2016. You can't expect the NX user base to grow large enough for EA, Ubi, Activision etc without those companies at launch.

They also have to ask themselves, where did the Wii U go wrong? The answer, it's lack of power, party chat, apps & 3rd party support.

With Neo & Scorpio around the corner, I honestly think it's time they drop their hardware division and develop their games for other consoles & PC.

Re: Reaction: The NX Release in March 2017 and How It Changes the Game

Monkeyofthefunk

Launching in March 2017 is a marketing disaster. PS4.5 and PSVR will sell out at Xmas and people will still be picking them up as the new stock hits the shelves.

Add to that the fact that a lot of people will get a Xbox One or PS4 for Xmas and only a fool would say that launching a new console 3 months afteis a great idea.

Sure we as Ninty fans will buy the console, barring any crazy Nintendo gimmicks, but PlayStation & Xbox fans won't jump ship to Nintendo. Not unless Nintendo roll out a specs busting power house of a console with 3rd party exclusive that no gamer can be without.

I hope Nintendo blow us away with the NX but even if they do, a post Xmas launch could be more damaging than delaying it until November or December 2017.

Re: Review: Miitomo (Mobile)

I've been using Miitomo for over a week now and I'm sad to say it's aimed squarely at kids. It asks be questions like what's happening at school, who do you fancy etc.

I love Nintendo but I'm worried about their new persistence with games/apps aimed at kids and that it will carry over to the NX, making it a platform that won't be taken seriously.

Re: Talking Point: Sony's PlayStation VR Launch Adds Pressure to Nintendo's Holiday - and Perhaps NX - Plans

Monkeyofthefunk

I'm predicting a Christmas 2017 release for NX with Nintendo announcing some form of augmented reality, similar to MS Hololens.

VR fits well within the anti social arena that Sony & MS offer. The number of split/shared screen games on the PS4 & Xbox One have dwindled whereas Nintendo continues to offer it with games such as Mario Party, SSB, Mario Bros U etc.

I hope Nintendo continue along the well established path and launch a home console for family & friends, not for virtual buddies only.
