It's a real shame that a professional game studio felt pressured to make these artistic changes. Either keep the original flavor or make a different game.

This could very well be all that the reviews say, but, from that trailer and the quotes provided in this article, I still have no idea what this game's story is about or why it is so different and impactful.

I could spend a lot of time explaining why, but, in short, no, this is not important or consequential at all. It's basically the same thing as knowing that weird Pokemon fanfictions exists — which I already knew.

As a staunch fan and advocate for physical games, I wish I knew when these guys were done releasing versions of this game. I've already purchased it twice now LOL. Still, buying a game three times for ~$35 still feels better than "buying it" digitally for $20. And yea, I know that kind of sounds ridiculous, but, this is the mess we're in.

This "new information" seemingly adds and changes nothing. What am I missing? What is the CORRECT translation if not what originally circulated?? Changing "sex education" to "Puritan" doesn't even make sense.

I'm glad NL was brave enough to report on this. It's important to note that the artists who brought this franchise to popularity feel stifled by modern political ideologies. If the situation was flipped, and the creators felt pressure to make things more sexy or more gender-binary, it would be equally worth reporting on.

I'm rooting for Nintendo on this. You can't make Wooloo firing machine guns and not expect a lawsuit. If the Palworld folks were honestly just trying to make there own game, there a million better ways to have gone about it. See: the dozens of Pokemon-esque franchises that never got in any trouble at all, and in fact are happily sold on Nintendo platforms.

Absolutely everything about this game looks amazing except for the design of the main male character. The female character looks pretty good though.

@Yoshi3 That's a fair point, but instead of filling in blanks (which implies making things up out of thin air) I would think of it more like "fleshing things out." In other words, taking what was already there and following that in logical directions. Instead, they changed aspects of characters without narrative reason for doing so.

This show is an example where amazing animation, voice acting and production value cannot overcome bad storytelling and a lack of faithfulness to the source material.

The first CV anime started out strong and didn't quite stick the landing. This one just started poorly.

I was such a gigantic Carmen Sandiego fan back in the day. But I can't get behind these recent reboots where Carmen is the hero. It makes no sense to me. The fun of the story was that she was this incredibly brilliant criminal, the best in the world, and it was your challenge to take her down. A lot of modern remakes turn the villains into heroes and vice versa — I know writers are out of ideas but, I can't get into it.

Just put the finishing touches on the game like 2 days ago LOL. I'm ready to buy this book!
