Re: Review: Final Fantasy III (Virtual Console / Super Nintendo)

The fact that this did not get a 10/10 makes this review incoherent.

But seriously, saying that the use of mode-7 for the map was unclean and not as good as a 2D map is a very strange comment to make. The use of mode-7 made the game a lot more varied, and made it so that flying an Airship was one of my favorite parts in the game.

Also, the music's score is every bit as good as Chrono Trigger's, if not better. Chrono Trigger has some great music, and could be considered a masterpiece in gaming music, but as Varoennauraa said, FFVI's OST should be considered a masterpiece in music in general. It's one of the only soundtracks that nearly makes me cry when I hear a specific tune from it (Celes' Theme).

It is also questionable as to why this review does not mention the incredible, incredible story. Now, not to dock your review or anything Corbie, but I feel that this is an integral part to emphasize in the review, as it is the main reason why this is my favorite RPG of all time (along with SMRPG).

Re: Rumour: Using Piracy Devices May Disable Your 3DS

Really, this is great news. Practically all of my few friends who play the DS have one of those R4 flash cards, and it just pisses me off to see them play great games for free while I do what people SHOULD be doing: buying the actual cart/disc or points card. I may sound like a d***** right now, but it's about time for them to learn that pirating games is NOT the way to go. I think this will really teach all those pirates a lesson.

Re: Iwata Hits Out at Smartphone and Social Network Game Developers

There really is no game service in existence that doesn't have a whole bunch of crapware. I personally think that Nintendo should allow indie developers who develop for mobile phones to develop for them as well. I mean, there could be some cool and imaginative games that come out of it. As long as they have a good imagination or ideas with it, I see no reason to not allow them to develop.

And as for Iwata's speech against the crapware on mobile devices such as the iPhone, he should take a good look at WiiWare and DSiWare. They aren't terrible, as great games DO exist on these services, but I'm sure at least 75-90% of the games on the service are just downright crap.

Re: High Voltage Would Like to Bring Conduit Prequel to 3DS

Bassman_Q

This seems like a pretty good concept, but why would you use the D-Pad to move if the system's got an analog nub? And I think utilizing the accelerometer like Pixelman said would be pretty cool for it.

But, we need to see how successful the Conduit 2 is before even considering a 3DS prequel.

Re: 3DS Arrives at Nintendo Life

Aww, that's a shame. While I still think the 3DS's capabilities will be amazing, you can color me unimpressed by Nintendo's choice in making it glittery. That just makes it seem cheap, imo. All the more reason to wait for a new iteration.

And all I can say about the butchered DSi is: NICE!

/me stares at screenshots 'til eyes begin to bleed.

Is it just me, or does the 3DS seem to have a sparkly finish? It looks kinda like glitter... that does not appeal to me AT ALL.

Oh, and how did you guys get a DSi with a black top and white bottom? ? ?

Re: Iwata: Ocarina of Time 3D Will Release in June 2011

The graphics don't look THAT much different from that of the original (specifically the screenshot w/ Epona and the skeletons), but graphics aren't a problem compared to gameplay, so I'm satisfied.

Doubt I'll be playing it anytime this year, though. Still have my second playthrough of the original to complete...

Re: Feature: Nintendo Life 3DS FAQ

I do like the fact that you can play games right from the SD Card and that you can use the circle pad to play DS games (similar to how you can use the PSP's analog nub to play PS1 games).

However, am I the only one who feels that Nintendo is just screwing over the DSi system? I know its been two years already, but couldn't they have had some sort of VC come out for it? And couldn't they have games able to play straight from the SD Card? What's with the delay, Nintendo?
