Not surprised with that price. Wasn't the PS3 around $500 when it was first released?
Anyway I'm more surprised to hear that it would be the most expensive console on the market. Isn't the PS3 and/or the 360 around the $300 price range currently?
For some reason I thought that pic in the title was something Last Story-related. The trailer here is strange, to say the least, and seems like a hack-n-slash game (ie not my cup o tea).
I agree with MasterGraveHeart; if Nintendo were to team up and make a 2D Metroid game in the same style as this for 3DSWare, I would buy a 3DS JUST for that.
Thanks @ Sykotek for the From the Abyss trailer. IDK if its any good, but for 200 points, I'm willing to risk the money before a review is up. Seriously, a 200 point RPG game on DSiWare is truly something to behold. Hopefully its good.
I think it'll utilize some other revolution in technology, like... holograms!
But seriously, as long as they include better graphics, better online, and another revolutionary concept, I'd be happy. Hell, with only one of those things I'd be happy.
Mobile games have been out for quite some time now. I don't think developers need to worry too much about their download services on consoles, as long as they don't expect the number of sales as mobile apps.
The fact that this did not get a 10/10 makes this review incoherent.
But seriously, saying that the use of mode-7 for the map was unclean and not as good as a 2D map is a very strange comment to make. The use of mode-7 made the game a lot more varied, and made it so that flying an Airship was one of my favorite parts in the game.
Also, the music's score is every bit as good as Chrono Trigger's, if not better. Chrono Trigger has some great music, and could be considered a masterpiece in gaming music, but as Varoennauraa said, FFVI's OST should be considered a masterpiece in music in general. It's one of the only soundtracks that nearly makes me cry when I hear a specific tune from it (Celes' Theme).
It is also questionable as to why this review does not mention the incredible, incredible story. Now, not to dock your review or anything Corbie, but I feel that this is an integral part to emphasize in the review, as it is the main reason why this is my favorite RPG of all time (along with SMRPG).
Not a bad week for Nintendo downloads. I'm quite curious with the plants vs. Zombies game (didn't it recently get a retail DS release?) and Liight doesn't seem to bad either.
Plus, Okamiden comes out on Tuesday, so its gonna be one awesome week!
Glad to see that others will be able to play the phenomenal game known as FF VI. I may have to check out Lufia though. Been hearing good stuff about the series.
I haven't heard of ZREO til today. DL'ing the OoT soundtrack right now, and seeing that Twilight Princess had the best Zelda soundtrack to date imo, I'm sure this will be nothing short of EPIC!
Really, this is great news. Practically all of my few friends who play the DS have one of those R4 flash cards, and it just pisses me off to see them play great games for free while I do what people SHOULD be doing: buying the actual cart/disc or points card. I may sound like a d***** right now, but it's about time for them to learn that pirating games is NOT the way to go. I think this will really teach all those pirates a lesson.
There really is no game service in existence that doesn't have a whole bunch of crapware. I personally think that Nintendo should allow indie developers who develop for mobile phones to develop for them as well. I mean, there could be some cool and imaginative games that come out of it. As long as they have a good imagination or ideas with it, I see no reason to not allow them to develop.
And as for Iwata's speech against the crapware on mobile devices such as the iPhone, he should take a good look at WiiWare and DSiWare. They aren't terrible, as great games DO exist on these services, but I'm sure at least 75-90% of the games on the service are just downright crap.
This seems like a pretty good concept, but why would you use the D-Pad to move if the system's got an analog nub? And I think utilizing the accelerometer like Pixelman said would be pretty cool for it.
But, we need to see how successful the Conduit 2 is before even considering a 3DS prequel.
Aww, that's a shame. While I still think the 3DS's capabilities will be amazing, you can color me unimpressed by Nintendo's choice in making it glittery. That just makes it seem cheap, imo. All the more reason to wait for a new iteration.
And all I can say about the butchered DSi is: NICE!
@1- Don't worry; I too prefer the art style of TP, but look what happened with Wind Waker: Nobody really liked the artstyle until it came out, and it turned out to be an amazing game. I hope that that is what happens with this game.
The graphics don't look THAT much different from that of the original (specifically the screenshot w/ Epona and the skeletons), but graphics aren't a problem compared to gameplay, so I'm satisfied.
Doubt I'll be playing it anytime this year, though. Still have my second playthrough of the original to complete...
So... do you need to know how to code prior to using it or will there be a tutorial that teaches you? If it is the latter, then I might give it a shot.
I do like the fact that you can play games right from the SD Card and that you can use the circle pad to play DS games (similar to how you can use the PSP's analog nub to play PS1 games).
However, am I the only one who feels that Nintendo is just screwing over the DSi system? I know its been two years already, but couldn't they have had some sort of VC come out for it? And couldn't they have games able to play straight from the SD Card? What's with the delay, Nintendo?
As awesome as Cave Story is, I can't help but feel that they're milking the cow too much. They'd have to include a S*** ton of extras to even have me thinking about buying it yet again.
However, a sequel would definitely pique my interest, retail or not.

@39 Must be some pretty dirty pants if you ask me.
Re: Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D's European Box Art is Simply Beautiful
That looks absolutely gorgeous, but I feel the gold boxart is more classic and loyal to the original.
Re: n-Space Has Three 3DS Games Up its Spacious Sleeves
Indeed, that n-space logo screams TRON! A TRON game by n-space would be awesome!

Is it just me, or does the 3DS seem to have a sparkly finish? It looks kinda like glitter... that does not appeal to me AT ALL.
Oh, and how did you guys get a DSi with a black top and white bottom? ? ?
