That's what I get for dropping 75$ on deluxe at launch and playing for three hours I guess :/

Patient gamers always win lol

Yeah, knew Aigis had to be coming eventually. Guessing the Persona pack's going to be a set of Yu, Makoto Yuki, and, I dunno, Yoshizawa or something.

Is this even a Sonic game at this point?

I'm upset we're getting The Worst Final Fantasy instead of Castlevania, but I can at least understand it more than the Paramount synergy crap. The overlap between Rouge, Bayonetta, Aegis, and Tifa fans is a circle (though watch it just be Cloud and the bike like Smash Wii U)

Sonic racing game that has more non sonic related characters in it 😂.

Hmm, still no Crash Bandicoot in sight...

Those Sega arcade and console-themed vehicles are sick though.

I noticed this today browsing the Xbox store. They should add a third digital bundle with both season passes, no? The season passes are a bit expensive separately.

Been waiting for a sale on this. Seen it at $49 but black friday pretty sure it will be $35 or under. Will definitely get it eventually. With all these updates this is looking like its putting Maro Kart World to shame

Developers: How much post-lanuch content do you want?

SEGA: Yes.

@PepperMintRex Of course, duh. Goku, the Evangelion teenagers, Shrek, Peter Griffin and Ross Geller are among the most popular Sonic characters.

Let me know when there's a complete addition. This nickel and dimeing shiz-zat has gotta go.🤑

Sonic Racing: Crossworlds is my favorite racer on the Switch 2. I love all the season 2 content reveals and will gladly throw them some more money to continue supporting the game. Godzilla City Escape especially has me giddy to put more time in.

I want cross saves. Been playing on PC, and I'd like to pick up the Switch 2 version on sale, but I'd lose all of my progression, including the FOMO event exclusive rewards.

@Lizuka The teaser suggests that the DLC pack will have skins for Sonic, Amy and Shadow. The actual Persona characters have been part of the free drops. Bit weird in hindsight but hey.

I wish I could be more excited for these updates. But every time I see a new character all that comes to my mind is how they're gonna be voiceless. Which takes A LOT of the character out of the... characters.

When this game launched, one of the coolest aspects was the rival mechanic. It was so cool how every character in the base roster had a unique rival interaction. I get you can't keep calling every voice actor back every time to voice new ones so it's fine if the base roster had generic lines for the dlc characters, but I wish the dlc themselves had a response.

It makes the DLC characters a lot less appealing.

Oh lol, they even went for a Direct style voice over. Oh dear SEGA. It's all just so obvious. Don't get me wrong, it looks great but just doesn't excite me.

How has this dollar store Mario kart got a 'roadmap' hahhahaha

in quotes like a roadmap isn't a roadmap???

@PepperMintRex Welcome to gaming in 2026 where restraint has been sent to a farm up state, and everything eventually becomes Fortnite (functionally) and Ready Player One (thematically)!

They can add all the features and characters they want but as long as special events are only one week long and as long as DLC characters are silent I’m not going to sink more money into this game.

I get that I'm old, but this season stuff in racing/fighting games annoys the heck out of me. Also what in the actual heck is a day one update of a game that came out a year ago. Day 1 of year 2, just say it is an anniversary update.

Silent DLC ruins the game.

That’s what made the first two Nickelodeon Kart Racers games terrible.

@rvcolem1 i agree, im sick of it & im sick of fortnite slop “cross overs.” i wish this tacky trend would die out already

I still need Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star to be here.

Crazy content additions with this game. Some of the characters don't really feel like they fit in a Sonic Racing game but I do appreciate the variety.

Random as hell dlc. Bayonetta is cool, dont know who Aigis is and the Sonic McLaren character is a waste of a slot. Shouldve put yhe chick from All Stars Racing in it just cause. Should make one of the free characters Wreck it Ralph for old times sake.

Was really hoping for a mini Godzilla driving a kart but oh well. Evangelion is cool but would've liked Shinji to be included since theyre putting his car in. I guess Rei and Asuka are more iconic.

Hello Kitty. Meh.

The classic Sega pack looks cool though.

Persona and Final Fantasy 7 are cool.

In terms of the 5 free characters im still holding out for some Gunstar Heroes, Streets of Rage and/or Golden Axe representing.

Also cool theyve put the price down for the online versions but ive been waiting for a sale on the first season pass since I bought the game. I want to get it just not full price.

@DTFaux That’s inevitable with AI slop degrading the modding scene too. There are so many ‘Spider-Man in Skyrim’ adjacent ‘mods’(technically it’s a layered instance but it’s a tad complicated) because to be quite honest, the average Joe lacks imagination. Like that whole modern art installation where the guy taped a banana to the wall, everyone thinks they could do that but nobody actually did it until him. They revert to childhood bashing action figures together instead of using these tools for more complex systems and you combine that with IP fetishism so we end up with the Ninja Turtles in Overwatch or some nonsense. It all stems from the same source, lack of imagination and comfort in the familiar.

Heck yeah! Not gonna lie, the collabs are extremely high profile and hitting very hard on my 90s, SEGA-branded heart, and I honestly can’t remember the last time I was this excited for a season pass.

That said, there is an element of randomness and locura (that I am totally embracing,) so, for fun, here's my take for year 3::

• Twin Peaks
• The Care Bears
• KFC
• The Catholic Church
• Yu-Gi-Oh!
• Colgate toothpaste

@nessisonett Agreed. And ironically, it was passionate artists and tech heads basically "bashing action figures together" already. But that also allowed a lot of them to cut their teeth and grow in their respective fields to eventually make new/original things.

Now we're in an era where that niche is being pulled in opposite directions, with companies on one end commodifying it beyond the days of the 'Marvel Vs.' games or Smash Bros, while the other end is fans robbing themselves of learning opportunities because the computer is doing so much heavy lifting and delivering instant gratification.

And all this isnt to outright rain on the fun of "official" crossovers, as there are still neat and clever executions out there... but it's also just a non-stop barrage now (so much of it sanitized to boot). It makes the more restrained and sensible ones feel way more special now. /rant

Eh, Mario Kart World is still much more fun.

@DTFaux I’d had enough of crossovers when Sonic appeared in Fortnite. Something no one needed.

Hopefully this means they'll actually put the Season 1 Pass on sale now... I want the vehicles and Courses, but not for $30. I wish I could just pay for those instead of voiceless collab characters.

I won’t get this. It is like fighting game type aggressive monetisation. It is significantly more fun at the highest speed but you can’t do that online. Adding loads of characters is never really what I want. Game Modes and tracks I would probably pay for but I found the base game lacking in content. For the price of the season passes they should have 50% of the game worth of content. If at the end of year 2 there was double the tracks of the base game then I would consider that fair. There is also no entirely skill based tracks like Burning Rangers in transformed I can see why they don’t want too many of those but none is not good.

People complaining about Crossover content and “slop” when the entire premise of this game is in literally in the title 🤣

That said, some more Sonic centric courses would not go amiss (love the City Escape inclusion tho). Maybe in Year 3?

The better Mario Kart keeps improving.

Neat! I had a blast when I played the game when I tried it earlier this year.

I will come back to it for sure once its feature complete.

im surprised so many people are still bitter at this game, the base game has more than enough content and the dlc tracks are still playable online without paying. im set not buying the season pass

how can you be upset at the game getting free content, dlc, new modes, and a permanent price cut as if thats not exactly what people are saying MKW should get

@Sonicka People are complaining about the Fortnitification of media in general, of which this game is one example

Not that it’s a bad game, but I think there’s a broad feeling that we’re reaching crossover saturation point.

What was once the height of novelty is now starting to feel like the default approach as entertainment companies seek to cross-pollinate their audiences by smashing their respective IPs together, seemingly at random.

Instead of moving forward with original ideas, it feels like we’re moving sideways; letting worlds bleed into each other to until every IP exists within the same homogenous, marketing-driven media multiverse.

So the full thing costs what, $130 now?

Sonic's just trying to gather his buddies from Smash Ultimate, including Bayonetta, Steve, Joker, Pac-Man, Mega Man, and Cloud. I'll bet he tried to convince Mario to join, but once Mario found out Cloud was going to be there, he knew Sephiroth probably wouldn't be too far behind, and he does NOT want a repeat of what happened last time Sephiroth joined an event!

do what sega does? They actually made a reference to nintendont. wild

I'll probably get the DLC eventually for the tracks, but what's the point of the rival mechanic now that damn near 1/3rd of the roster is completely silent? Who tf wants to play as a silent Bayonetta?

That Dreamcast controller vehicle though.

I've really got to get this game!
