It feels like Wave 2 for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's DLC pass only just launched, but we're already looking ahead to Wave 3. Nintendo confirmed during its September Direct that eight more courses will be arriving at the start line this Holiday season. That makes it the perfect family game to fall out over before the celebrations, then!
The brief trailer showed us two of the upcoming eight tracks that we'll be burning rubber on in the near future — Merry Mountain from Mario Kart Tour and Peach Gardens from Mario Kart DS! Merry Mountain is the perfect Christmas course, which will put a smile on our face, while Peach Gardens is a returning favourite.

Peach Gardens made my day. I loved that track.
I remember thinking Peach Gardens was super mid on DS when I was much younger, but I'm really looking forward to revisiting it now!
I hope they include Donkey Kong Snowboarding from Wii on this….
Both tracks look excellent! I am so excited to play on Peach Gardens again, it's been a while.
Both of these were in the datamined list, but look better than I was expecting them to.
Excellent track choices. This also confirms the datamine being correct. On another note, I'm glad Merry Mountain has anti-gravity. We need more anti-gravity tracks in the DLC.
At least they’re looking better than the first wave. I wish they would go back and touch things up a bit more.
Still tracking with the leaks so far so guess that'll hold. Always liked Peach Gardens so good to have it back.
There's simply too much time between these "waves" of courses.
Hard to get excited for when there's no new stuff.
Peach gardens is so good, and Merry Mountain is the perfect track for the season!
The way they've been revealing this is so bizarre: first reveal in February, Wave 1 in March, NOTHING for 4 months until August with Wave 2 and now a reveal for Wave 3 in September for Christmas-time?
Not necessarily complaining because that new track looks sick and THEY BROUGHT PEACH GARDENS BACK AAAAAAAAAH but still weird regardless. Bring on Holiday 2022 I guess.
Is it just me or do these tracks look better than previous DLC? Might just be my phone screen.
So this confirms that datamine. I won’t mention them here but now I’m even more pumped to see what the others on that list look like now! Merry Mountain was a given for this holiday season or the next anyway.
A nice Christmas gift, hopefully by then I could finally purchase the Booster Pack. Right now playing it through the Expansion Pack subscription is okay.
Nice to get a sneak preview although I figured Wave 3 would be around Christmas; I liked Peach Gardens on the DS.
Peach Gardens hit me right in the nostalgia
@Rambler
Typically between Thanksgiving Nov 24th (4th Thursday in Nov) and New Years.
@Fizza it's classic Nintendo drip-feed crap.
Mobile ports are not good enough...
@rockodoodle Spoilers:
It was leaked with the release of Wave 1, as it appears on an updated banner found in the files. But I'm even more excited for it now that we know for sure half-pipes are being brought into 8 Deluxe
Merry Mountain is probably the best tour track, this is great!
@Rambler Thanksgiving in November, 3 religious(including Christmas) in December, last is New Years. not sure if Halloween(October) is included.
Peach Gardens looks great in HD. Really nice to see that track return.
More Mario Kart is fine by me! I’m not very picky about the tracks that are added, so I hope they surprise me!
got into tour later on so never played merry mnt, so Im hyped, plus the trick halfpipes make a comeback! peach gardens is mid but at least we will get 3ds rainbow rd this wave which is a goat track. still can't help but still be tired of 8 between the long waits in between waves, lack of new characters, karts and gliders and lack of a point system.
I'm not surprised by the Mario Kart 8 announcement, looking forward to playing the new tracks once they are released.
Before the initial Booster Pass DLC announcement, I thought they'd port Mario Kart Arcade GP to Switch in lieu of MK9 probably being a ways off still. I still feel it'd be cool if they were to add some courses from that game in the DLC Waves as well since that game isn't super accessible being in arcades only.
... Wun can only hope.
Do you think that the online subscription + Expansion Pass will also cover this new wave and the next one? I'm thinking about signing up online and I'm trying to figure out if I should do the one with the expansion (mostly for the DLCs) or whether to opt for the basic plan and buy the DLCs separately.
@wuntyme8
a gp collection is my most wanted switch game rn, imagine gyro support or even labo support for gp vr
How wonderful! I've always wanted a holiday course in a Mario Kart game ever since hearing the MK64 snow themes.
This makes perfect sense to follow every 4 months. March/April 2023 will be wave 4
August 2023 will be wave 5
December 2023 will be wave 6
February 2024 will be MK9 reveal at the February 2024 Direct to release in June 2024 to coincide with a new fully integrated system in May 2024 so we won’t have to wait for system upgrade to play everything the switch is releasing on a new system.
The 2024 stuff is a guess obviously but it’s a pattern I think we will see.
