Last weekend, the Pokémon World Championships held the final Pokkén Tournament DX competition.
As you might recall, The Pokémon Company announced this back in May. The Pokkén official competition originally started out with the Wii U original in 2016. To say goodbye to this game after six years, the Pokémon social accounts have released a highlights reel:

When these games were originally released, Nintendo Life awarded both of them 9/10 stars. The DX version adds in extra pocket monsters and was recently a Nintendo Switch Online trial.
How do you feel about Pokkén being dropped from the World Championships? Would you like to see a sequel? Comment below.

Pokken 2 with Sawk on it, please !
Pokken 2 - Everyone is here
(lol, as if)
So what exactly was the point of Nintendo Switch Online giving out a Pokkén trial if the game is gonna die very soon?
They should keep it going until a sequel at least.
@ModdedInkling This is the end of it at a certain tournament. The game will still be functional and playable.
Can we have a DLC on cart release now?
I wish we got a sequel.
Can’t have tournaments forever. I do hope we get a sequel, though. It’s a solid game.
I always thought they were gonna do one more dlc character, they way the screen selection looks like right now theres a big empty slot there and it bothers me to no end lol
I still could never really get into this game, admittedly. I've tried both the Wii U and Switch versions, and while I stuck around longer for the Switch game to really try and get into it, my mind just is not able to apprehend the combos in this type of fighting game.
That said, if they make a Pokkén 2 and substantially update the playable roster (I just don't think there was enough), then I may try again with that game. Depending on the chosen characters and the amount of them.
Cringe if true because they are actively trying to sell it to more people right now
@ModdedInkling,
I don't think they a cancelling the game, just it's tournament.
I do hope that a sequel is being considered. But happy it has had such a good scene run.
Throughly enjoyed this on Wii U and even got it again on Switch on a wim and still play it occasionally. Very good game. But certainly it's time for a sequel now...
Best part of Worlds though. Unite seemed like a sideshow, the TCG camera angles were terrible (couldn't see the cards) and the amount of shuffling in the Shady Dealing/Palkia/Arceus meta made spectating very boring.
The VG (Sword Shield) was going strong at least, but that meta (Inciniroar, Grimsnarl, Charizard, Groudon, Zacian) meant the roster sometimes felt smaller than Pokken's.
Pokken is great for a tournament like Worlds, and I'll miss it next year.
This game had Smash Bros level potential and had solid mechanics with decent balancing. Sad it never quite broke out.
i finally tried this game, recently.
it's not quite as "tekken with pokemon" as i had hoped.
@johnvboy
But that's what I mean. There's not as much incentive to purchase the game if there's no more audience for it
@ModdedInkling
Not sure the games potential customers will be watching this.
I took on the trial. Yes! I did so starting with Weavile. And then tried out Lucario and its Synergy Burst. I did Synergy Burst on both. And the game is what I want as a Pokemon Street Battle Arena game. I would like Pokken 2! With more features and lots of Pokemon to choose from.
I don’t normally do much competitive play in Pokémon. I mostly play casual and once in awhile play in the eSports. Looking at some stuff I found online I can say I would like Pokken 2 too. If it will be announced this year before it ends I would like to see it. Until then I am going to play Pokken with my friends and cousins.
