Pre-Orders For Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Special Edition Open Now (US)

@tomasu Unfortunately our collectors edition is worse this time, same as the US one but with a softcover artbook instead.

I'm conflicted with how I feel about them limiting pre-orders to my nintendo, and only two per account. Isn't it pretty easy to make an account? If they check for bots, then that might help, and it's more than Amazon or GameStop do, but I'm wondering how effective this will be at stopping scalpers from buying their entire stock, especially when they can't even keep their N64 controllers stocked for more than 10 minutes, and those are locked behind their NSO subscription.

@Olliemar28 thanks for this, I was getting so annoyed checking the store all the time with no clue when pre-orders would go live. Weird how they're leaving pre-orders in the UK so late, hopefully this won't impact when we'll get the actual game!

Wow that is… underwhelming

Probably will be skipping this special edition purely because it is limited to Nintendo's shop (which is still non-functional for me) and also how they are shipping the items separately. Will be a shame too as I have the special editions for 2 and 1 Def Edition.

Still haven't played 2 to be fair. Got to chapter 3 and gave up because I wasn't enjoying the combat (never really understood it, even after watching videos recommended to me) and the story hadn't grabbed me.

Xenoblade is my favorite series... So I'll probably be getting this.

@MS7000 hey I know we've both had issues with the My Nintendo Store but I've ordered some stuff lately and it's been totally fine, have you checked with them to see if the issues are resolved? I even had a pre-order go through fine so they must have resolved some of their issues... and if not I would be happy to order 2 copies and post one out to you haha
As for XC2 you really do need to push through those initial chapters, it heats up in late game and is just so so good!

Well, at least it's limited to two per account and not just...a limited print run. Anyone who wants one should be able to get one. Assuming everyone who wants one is aware it's a Nintendo store exclusive.

@Otoemetry I tried buying some amiibo through them a couple of weeks ago, but the payment portal kept on glitching no matter what I did. They also wiped an order I had with them previously, then a few months after the order was due (April), tried charging my card multiple times for the full order, which my bank stopped, but consequently also ending up freezing my bank for a couple of days whilst the bank confirmed that it was indeed me who had tried to make a purchase originally.

I do remember you having issues with the Loftwing amiibo previously. Good to know you have had a good experience recently at least. =)

@MS7000 yes all the trouble I had with pre-orders and failed payments was presumably as a result of their systems being unable to handle the quirk of my address not being held within their lookup system, it refused to include my flat number so even if a payment was successful the delivery would fail when it arrived... it was a preposterous situation but thankfully I've ordered a few things successfully now.
Sorry to hear you're still having issues, perhaps you'll have to get a family member (or a friend) to order it for you? That's what I had to do before they'd managed to fix the issue, I just gave my sister the money and she had it delivered to her address.

I already hearted it over on the site, and I will pre-order it. I mean, I DID luck out by getting the Special Edition of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 AFTER buying Xenoblade Chronicles 1: Definitive Edition.

@YoshiAngemon It's hilarious to me, my local (at the time) Target had the XC2 Special Edition in stock for like two years after it came out collecting dust, then suddenly everyone wanted it and it skyrocketed.

The title had me so happy! Until I read the subtitle.
So much emotions, in such a short time.
I was really feeling it!

Has the price been announced? If not, how much did the other two collector's editions cost?

@MS7000 If you have played Xenoblade, the combat is roughly the same. If you haven't played the first game I recommend that you do. It took me a while to wrap my head around the combat also. Basically you want to try to get the monster stunned and then it can't attack and it takes more damage etc. You do this by using certain attacks that get the monster ready to be stunned. Then once he's ready to be stunned you use an attack that can actually put him in the stun. It's all color coded, I think green attacks might get the monster towards the stun state and maybe yellow stun it once it can be stunned. I forget. Also I don't think the game calls it stun.

@kennykenny not much help cause I forget the price of the others, but I think it was 100 or less for the others. 89 maybe?

@arrmixer they usually go by pacific time, but I'm checking at midnight eastern just in case. Possibly 3am eastern if they wait until midnight pacific time. It will probably be a weird time, like 11am. And I will miss it.

@tylerryan79 I've played the entirety of Xenoblade 1. Got close to beating on New 3DS, then completely finished it on Switch. Played through Future Connect as well. Honestly, the combat felt quite different between 1 and 2, but I am aware break, topple, daze etc are in the sequel, I just couldn't get as invested.

I remember enjoying the combat for X, but I have not really touched it since my initial playthrough when it launched back in 2015.

Well now that I know it's "Late July" for pre-orders, I can stop checking Nintendo Store's website every hour, every day since it was announced. That's more information than they usually give us.

@zen1990 The special edition hasn't got a confirmed release date because it won't be available in Europe until fall 2022. Nintendo has already stated they will only be shipping the game separately for release.

This is a disaster! I was there pretty much as soon as it went live and the site locked down into a permanent refresh mode. I couldn't even begin to put in my preorder.

The handling of this is piss-poor as expected if you/re only going to make it available directly on the My Nintendo Store.

I watched the page go live for preorders, and within seconds, it already said Item Limit Reached and signed almost anyone out who tried to preorder. This has been a disaster, even if you were there the moment it went live, you couldn't secure a preorder.

Site is having issues sense the begining, went up around 11:30, I struggled and struggled to get it in my cart and stay logged finally did. Got to check out, then their payment system was done. Disappeared from Cart, site then put me in a queuing line. Then the queueing line brings back to the page and now it says

Good news I haven't seen anything go up on eBay yet, soooo doesn't appear scalpers are to blame (yet) knocks on wood

I had something in my cart so says Google I went to cart and it said I didn't have anything in it.

Item limit reached is now showing for me. Something is probably up since no one has said they got their order in. Probably bots. Look for it on ebay $299 in the coming days.

So I was logged in for an hour beforehand, waited 30min in the online queue, finally was able to add to cart and then I had to login AGAIN and at that point my cart gets deleted, the login fails, the My Nintendo store crashes, all hell breaks loose, and the store goes down for maintenance. On Twitter I see a lot of angry people have the same problem & the whole time I'm thinking anyone with half a brain cvould foresee this would happen. Someone at Nintendo should be fired because this happens every single time. Nintendo should adopt the Limited Run Games approach of limit 1-2 per account and run the preorder for X number of weeks and then after produce the amount needed. Yeah it'll take a while longer but anything is better than the absolute terrible customer experience these Rhode Scholar Treehouse employees seem to push time and time again that keeps failing. If anybody at Nintendo doubted how popular this would be and not recognize their online store couldn't handle the traffic, they should get FIRED.

The only special editions I've ever bought were for Skyward Sword, which was fantastic, and Halo 4, which was...not. I do regret a lot of the art books I've missed out on, but I don't think I'm ever going to buy another special edition unless it's a remaster of a game I already love or it's so cool that it's worth the price even without the game. I do hope they release the soundtrack separately again. If it's as good as the others, then I'll buy it in a heartbeat.

@TequilaUK i know, its the same situation worldwide. They get the game separately on release date then the actual special edition contents at a later date. Every region is the exact same.
So its no excuse that every other region can handle it better than the UK store. USA, Japan and Australia have had preorders go live for it, yet we get a vague "late july".

@DrDoctor That's not what I meant. Right now Nintendo has however many they're going to make in the pipeline already. I'm saying don't actually make them until the pre-order period closes and then make based on the number of ordwers received. Still limit people to only ordering 1-2 but run the preorder for days/weeks before closing. Nintendo never does that but it would have been a better experience instead of the nightmare we're currently experiencing. I want someone at Nintendo to get fired for their continued incompetence. It's 2022, there's no more excuses if they want to be the exclusive home of these special editions from now on.

I don't think a single purchase managed to go through. The whole site is down for purchases, so there may yet be hope.

All I know is if I somehow miss out because of this insanity, I'll be willing to buy secondhand through eBay. Not about to miss out on the special edition to display next to the other two games' special editions.

Been a fan since I went into the original expecting Xenogears/Xenosaga levels of fail, but came out happy enough to label it a Top 5 Favorite. I have the special editions for the first two games; never owned a Wii U so I never bought X, but my brother has it, so someday I might just buy it off him to have it, if nothing else.

By the time the site loaded, they'd all gone. Still an extra $30 for a pretty tin and a book of screenshots? Think I'd rather buy a real book, a pizza and some beer with that money.

I on,y feel obligated to get this because I also have the CE Steelbook for XC2 (which was so easy to just order off Amazon). I've had the Nintendo Astor's page open in my browser for weeks, checking every day. And now... yeah, I kinda doubt they'll have any stock left by the time the web store is functional again. What a mess.

@Waka_the_Prophet I hate to say it but that positivity doesn't exist in a world where almost 2 years later, people still can't find a PlayStation 5. Thanks to bots. They're now so many bots that are easily downloaded and set up as web plugins that an amateur can start to use them in 10 minutes or less.

This is leaving me with a really bad taste in my mouth and is wasting my time. There's a very limited stock of this special edition according to sources and that's why Nintendo is selling it directly from their website. At least with other special editions, they had a chance of showing up later on and in multiple places (I was able to get the Metroid Dread special edition 2 months after the game launched at Gamestop and I saw them on sale at my local Best Buy too). I'm really dreading having to do this again when the Pyra/Mythra amiibo go on sale.

@YorkshireNed what would you expecting? Short of maybe a hardcover book, I don't think you know what collector Edition of Nintendo games bring in the US 🤣

Honestly, with Nintendo knowing how limited the stock were for these, I'm upset that they allowed everyone to even buy 2. I know people are complaining that that's not enough but personally I think it should just be one per account to give everyone a chance. Why buy two? So you can buy your friend (eBay) one? Too bad your friend has to wait with the rest of us. We're all trying here.

First, I had to suffer bad RNG in Mega Man X DiVE's DiVE Fest Banner, then the side of the basement we will NEVER get the chance to use flooded again, then this would happen! I remember having to pay scalpers for Summer Isabelle and Summer Tom Nook. Only reason I wanted them was for them to be naked! Besides, I don't wanna ruin the clothes.

I was on the site 3 minutes after the news that preorders were live and I got a whole range of problems, logged me out, said my limit was reached, even though I hadn’t added anything yet, got put in a waiting room, then you couldn’t log back in at all. Man, what a disaster this was.
