The survival crafting game Minecraft has recently been experiencing some issues on the Nintendo Switch. Players on this platform have been reporting a build of the game "freezing", making the whole thing unplayable.
There has been mention of this across social media and certain subreddits. Fortunately, it seems Mojang has investigated these issues and addressed this problem. The freezing issues were first discovered in version 1.18.30. Here's the latest fix:
Minecraft - Version 1.18.32:
"Addressed chunk loading and freezing issues on Nintendo Switch (MCPE-154110)"
According to playtests of this new patch, it looks like it may have resolved these issues:
How about you - have you had any issues with the Switch version since this update? Are you still playing Minecraft on a regular basis? Leave a comment down below.

I wish I had a PC so I could play Java Edition. From what I’ve seen, it’s way better than Bedrock Edition.
I'm not a huge fan of the new terrain generation nor do I have Java, so I have been playing the 3ds edition instead because why not?
@PBandSmelly Uhh, no they're not? The freezing issue seems to be quite recent. The last time I played it on Switch (maybe two months ago), it worked just fine.
My kid confirms it is no longer freezing.
When you're struggling for a sub-header on an NL article, but you need to put one:
"You should be able to play again now"
I noticed the freezing issue but it wasn’t horrible for me. Seems to have gone away, and I am back to prepping for the 1.19 update.
@WeLiveInASociety I'd say that you aren't really missing out, since Minecraft is really Minecraft no matter where you play, but Java is a great version for modding and server multiplayer. Bedrock runs miles better on anything, though lol
The freezing was a recent issue, from the last few weeks. Also my child's account was experiencing a lot of lag as well (my adult account wasn't). Both issues are now sorted with this update
I really dont like minecraft on switch, Im not a big fan of the game but my nieces and nephews love it. Whenever we try and play multiplayer the game just doesn’t connect
This game was NIGHTMARISH to play on Switch for me. Lag on every menu and crashes galore! Hopefully this fixes that (haven't tried it yet as of writing).
Never been into Minecraft, but is it actually worth getting just to experience the Mario/Nintendo themed levels?? Are there many of them??
Updated and still freezes 1/2/2023,
Love how only the screen freezes but the game is still active and will die while it’s frozen if there’s an enemy near you. Great job with the fix
