Tried its predecessor and wasn’t impressed. Controls weren’t smooth, stuttered, gameplay was rather dull and its mobile roots could be seen from the maximum range of an AGM-158D JASSM away.
After Ace Combat 3D Cross Rumble being a thousand times better than it needed to be on the 3DS I did have hopes that the next portable AC title would grace the Switch. Those hopes are basically non-existent now.
Does this not come under the 'file under Advance Wars' ? category?
I'd love a good dogfight simulator, the Switch is lacking in that department. At least with one's worth playing anyway. Sky Rogue's gameplay was good but its roguelite structure put me off. Going by this review of the previous Sky Gamblers, I don't have much hope that the sequel will be much better.
'Sky Gambler's UI has been barely altered in its transition from mobile to console, and at its best it's an unpolished, poorly designed relic reminiscent of mid 90's shareware games – at its worst, it's borderline unusable thanks to the twitchy implementation of hardware controls used to get between sections.'
Maybe THIS is the game that should be put on hold over the Ukraine war instead of a cartoony game like Advanced Wars, since it will most likely be junk.
@SteamEngenius
A smaller studio just can't postpone a project, I think it's just a very unfortunate coincidence.
@zool I was thinking the same thing.
If only the Switch had a real Flight Stick avail..
@TTgowings It would need a flight game worth manufacturing a stick for first.
I miss my Ace Combat 4 days. That was a long time ago. One of my first forays into online gaming.
I think the timing for this game release should be put on hold like Advance Wars due to what is happening in Ukraine. After seeing all the suffering I think I am going to give up playing war video games all together.
