Original Story [Wed 16th Mar, 2022 03:00 GMT]: Following its Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak digital event yesterday, Capcom revealed a collector's edition would also be released on 30th June - with pre-orders opening "soon" in North America via GameStop.
This collector's edition contains the deluxe edition (including a download code for the expansion and extra set of contents), an enamel pin, the stunning Malzeno amiibo, a steelbook game case and a sticker pack.
This DLC update will require 13GB to install. In addition to the collector's edition and deluxe editions, there have been additional amiibo announced. You can get the full rundown in our previous post.
Will you be revisiting Monster Hunter Rise when the Sunbreak DLC arrives this June? Tell us below.

I was excited... up until the part about it being GameStop exclusive. I hate the idea of giving them a cent. Guess I'll just stick with the eShop version, then...
What's the point of a SECOND extravagant collector's edition when the bloody expansion isn't even on the cartridge?! Makes perfect sense to include a Sunbreak-labeled steelbook to house a cartridge that only contains the base game (and for hardcore collectors, this will be their second copy).
Capcom should have just held out for an "Ultimate" (re)release like the days of old where everything is on the cartridge/disc.
EDIT: (23/03/22) This “collector’s edition” doesn’t include a cartridge at all, which makes the inclusion of a steelbook even more ridiculous!
So to get to rank 7 and beat the real ending, do you need to play multiplayer or can you do it single player?
I love the game and have like 50 hours in it (3 playthroughs)but I am not much for multiplayer games.
A shame that this doesn't appear to feature the game on a physical cartridge at all.
This is the same company that printed new editions of Street Fighter 5 that were data-identical to the initial launch, forcing you to download all the necessary data for the new edition.
@RupeeClock : Bethesda did that with the "DOOM Slayers Edition" release as well. With nothing complete on cartridge, it's a wonder they even bothered with a "physical" release.
The classic DOOMs were all supplied as download codes, and 2016 was the same old cheapskate Version 1.0 cartridge (with multiplayer maps, gyro aiming, and bug fixes requiring a 8GB+ download). It would have made more sense to include the classic DOOMs on a 16GB cartridge and supply 2016 as a download code instead (which would also incentivise those who had already purchased 2016 to double-dip for the new cartridge).
Do you get the Sunbreak preorder bonuses if you buy this edition of the game?
@Neoicelord
Impossible to know…you just have to play the game to know. It’s an incredibly deep game in regards to gameplay, farming materials ,crafting, weapon mastery and hunting monsters! Try the free trial to get a true feel, it’s an amazing series and game but it’s not for everyone
Yeah last time I pre-ordered from GameStop it was for MH Rise and all three Amiibo. Rise didn't arrive on launch day and the amiibo never showed up period (I half-suspect they got the amiibo and put them on the shelf). They lost my business for good. Digital-only for this one too.
@Silly_G I agree… I jumped all in on Rise, but cannot justify getting Sunbreak CE for a code. I wish they splurged a bit and released Rise with Sunbreak on a larger cartridge for the CE release.
man crapcom proves again they suck on trying to put everything on a cartridge might as well get the expansion on eshop instead if the amiibo is sold seperatly ill get it.
@Silly_G lets not forget how cheap bethesda was by screwing us by cancelling the physical version of doom eternal.
Ugh not looking forward to trying to preorder this. I’ll see if the amiibo are being sold alone in Japan.
@blindsquarel You don't have to play multiplayer. The game is easier than other Monster Hunter games (even considering it's the base game without G-rank).
@Neoicelord On the one hand I wouldn't necessarily call MH an rpg. On the other hand, if animation cancelling is your favourite part of action rpg's, maybe play another game instead.
@RiasGremory : I was okay with DOOM Eternal’s physical release being delayed if it means that the expansions will be included on the cartridge. Whether such a release materialises remains to bd seen though.
Disappointing the stickers are almost identical to the rise stickers.
@Neoicelord
There's a long demo on the eShop. Best to check that.
@blindsquarel You can still do it solo, they are a bit tougher though! 😊
@Neoicelord probably not
@blindsquarel
Single player.
Monster Hunter Rise is split into Village Quests and Hub Quests. The Village Quests are only playable solo, offline. The Hub Quests are designed for multi-player but can also be played solo, offline.
Multi-player makes the Hub Quests easier, but it's not required. However, you'll probably want to send a join request any time you're playing a Rampage Quest and let the super good Japanese players come help you. Just be sure to thank them with a thumbs up after the hunt.
Since Gamestop isn't really an evil force in gaming that anyone can measure any longer - I may bite on this only because that Amiibo looks pretty awesome.
@Neoicelord you might like it i recommend playing the demo or game trail while it's still "free" with switch online.
It's really dumb PC isn't getting this. Game is way smoother on there and plays better. They could've put a code for steam users for the amiibo outfits
Both this and the base game's collector's editions seem a bit... lackluster, so I won't bite.
I just want the amiibo, but nothing is coming up on the GS app.
EDIT: I’m not seeing anything Sunbreak on the GameStop app.
EDIT AGAIN: Ok, I see the $99 physical edition with Malzeno, but thats it.
The Digital Deluxe price for Sunbreak is $49.99 in the E-shop.
The Price of Malzeno Amiibo is $20.50.
You mean to tell me that they expect us to pay about $30 for a Steel Book Case for ZERO CARTRIDGE and some cheap stickers and the box to house this thing? ? ? Nope. Nice try Capcom. I'll wait for the stand alone Malzeno Amiibo. That 30 I save will go to the other two Amiibo that are about 15 to 16 each.
Oh wait... there's a pin you say? .... still not worth it.
@blindsquarel yeah single player quests mimic multiplayer quest but i played them in multiplayer and it was amazing and this is coming from someone that does not like anything multiplayer. You should seriously try it mate. It makes the game so much better imo.
Let us know if this goes up for preorder in Europe, please and thank you.
I've been refreshing my searches daily but I know the morning I forget to will be the day the preorders go up and I miss out
@blindsquarel My main character is at HR 104 and I haven't touched multiplayer. In the current game to see all monsters you will want to reach HR 100. I'm also a fairly casual/average gamer, was carted many times but only ever had 1 quest failed (my own fault) in 140 hours to get to HR100.
13GB download
No cartridge
Includes Steelbook
$100+
Am I missing something??🤔
Look at Capcom, treating Amiibo's way better than Nintendo has been lately... ;_; (Seriously Nintendo, what's going on?)
Anyone knows when a actual Physical update of this will come?
I'm surprised the collector's edition hasn't sold out yet.
@SnackPop I'm surprised the collector's edition hasn't sold out yet.
@$99 a pop I wonder why and no Physical is the other reason. This isn't like a UK Project Strategy Limited Edition.
@steizgr8 Same, have a feeling it will not be released here.. Just like we never got the Monster Hunter Stories 2 CE
@KingEidilleg that would be pretty disappointing.
I got the standard edition of Rise on a whim due to the positive reviews and it ended up being my favourite Switch game and im obsessed with the series now.
Would have loved to get the Collector's Edition of that too.
@SnackPop What actually are you collecting? A steelbook? An amiibo? A $100 steelbook and amiibo?
Not exactly the greatest value proposition..
So does this actually contain the baseline MH:R game on cartridge and then a download voucher for the DLC? It's all a bit confusing. Anyway I do have it preordered as it went live for preorder in Canada today. If it doesn't include the baseline game though I may just cancel the preorder.
