Update [Wed 9th Feb, 2022 00:15 GMT]: Evil Dead: The Game got a new trailer today to make up for the delay last month, but it seems that's not the only news. The Switch version might not arrive alongside the other versions on 13th May 2022 - with Saber Interactive and Boss Games providing the following update (via Nintendo Everything):
"scheduled for release on Nintendo Switch in the future.”
You can view the latest age-restricted trailer showing off the pre-order bonuses over on YouTube.
Original article [Sat 29th Jan, 2022 04:30 GMT]: It seems we'll have to wait just a little bit longer for Bruce Campbell's return as Ash Williams - with Saber Interactive announcing Evil Dead: The Game will no longer arrive this February.
In an update on social media, it was revealed the new title would now be released on 13th May 2022. It follows on from a series of delays - the previous one was back in August last year.
In some additional tweets, Saber mentioned how this would allow the team to get things "just right" and thanked everyone for their patience and understanding.
Instead of releasing the game in February, pre-order information and a new trailer will now be shared in the same month. Right now, it's unclear how exactly this will impact the Nintendo Switch release.

Not very groovy..but more polish never hurts.
I'll get this on PS4. I have psplus but not sold on NSO.
Aye no prob! After all it’s more groovy to keep working on a game then having a non groove-tastic game come out!😁 ...I’m so sorry for that... I leave.
@CONTRARIAN_SAMURAI no chance in hell pal. Evil dead 1, 2, and army of darkness are top notch. Cream of the crop. Bees knees. YA DIGGGGG??
But for real, this game needs to be out already.
They can take their time to make this the most groovy game it can be as far as I'm concerned, I'll still be there once it's out. The footage so far looks great, so I can't wait for the full game!
As long as they make the castle scene from AoD with the car and everything👍🏻
I'll probably get it on PS5, but if the Switch version is good performance wise, i'll easily double dip day 1
Love Evil Dead but this game in particular is just not grabbing me. Hopefully it has reviews and praise I can’t ignore but right now I’m just meh… 😕 I’m sorry Ash I really am!
I just hope the single player/bot use is good because I hate online.
Amazing would be if any game, at all, from the last 2 years, wasn't delayed. This is a new trend where no matter how long the game as been in production, it still needs "improvements". And everyone seems to defend this, as if a delay automatically means better quality. By the looks of it, so many games are "coming soon", like Scorn, that I will be playing it on my 80's. Not saying that a delay to improve is not good, but assuming better quality just because it will take a bit longer to be done, is just wishful thinking from those who don't understand how the industry really works. February will see a crazy amount of games coming, that if we don't include the rumor of Silksong in February also, so, a delay to "improve quality", seems outright lying.
Nothing ever grabs the real spirit of these 80s classics. I shall read your review but I'm not optimistic. This franchise has not been great in any format since the original trilogy.
@Filth_Element mostly because from what they've shown, pretty graphics aside, the game seems more like a battle royale than anything else. Honestly, the idea of a horror BR never seemed enticing to me. The only one that, in my opinion, will work, is Outlast Trials.
@CarlosM87 yeah pretty much. Gameplay just looks boring when it originally teased I was so happy but within one trailer was totally disappointed. “Awesome an Evil Dead game… oh it’s that type of game.” 😔
@Filth_Element true. I was expecting a true horror as well, not a BR. Ah, well.
Last October I found a PS1 copy of Evil Dead: Hail to the King sitting in the hallway of my building. Being a huge Evil Dead fan I was rather excited, unfortunately the game just kind of sucks. Some nice RE style pre rendered visuals though.
@CONTRARIAN_SAMURAI not everyone has taste.
@CONTRARIAN_SAMURAI No, you're wrong. Sam wouldn't have even been allowed on the Spiderman sets if the Evil Dead series wasn't so awesome AND built up such a massive following. But like one dude said right above me....
At that, I can't wait to buy this game.
@CONTRARIAN_SAMURAI TURN OFF YOUR CAPS LOCK
@CarlosM87 "Amazing would be if any game, at all, from the last 2 years, wasn't delayed. This is a new trend where no matter how long the game as been in production, it still needs 'improvements'."
wow, it's almost like the past two years have been a pandemic so games are inevitably pushed back as things come up unexpectedly. it's comments like this one that make me wonder why I bother with a lot of online games discussion, seeing as some of us evidently do not live in the same reality where it makes entire sense for things to come up unexpectedly in the year 2022.
also, how are delays a "trend"? delays have always been a pretty common thing because it is very difficult to tell when a massive project will be completed. you're right that virtually every game gets delayed now, but the fact of the matter is that announcing a release date months in advance (which at this point is necessary these days to not launch something that is DOA, unless you go to absurd lengths to cultivate a fanbase like New Blood has done with "we'll announce a release date when we know it's ready") is inevitably going to lead to delays. these release date announcements far in advance by their nature are assuming that nothing in their plans goes awry.
at the end of the day, no one actually gives a toss if games get delayed, not really. there are always dozens of new games dropping every week, and plenty of evergreen roguelites, arcade-y titles, & "live service" games that can hold our attention (not to mention the cavalcade of non-games, from comics, to films and prestige shows, to albums, to novels, etc.). which is why I find whining over delays to be universally and fundamentally disingenuous--you don't need this game to come out anytime in the next few months, nor do I, let alone any game. even if every single game got delayed until nothing new came out for the rest of 2022 (which obviously is not going to happen), there would be literally thousands of games with merit readily available that not a single person in this comments section would have touched. so yeah, developers and publishers can delay games for essentially any reason and it is nigh objectively immaterial to every single gamer.

I think y’all need to look at his username more closely before you take his post too seriously. 🙂
@Gwynbleidd
To be fair, the series only ended 3-ish years ago.
@TheRealMW amazingly, I read all your thread, and unfortunately, you assumed that I care if this or any game gets delayed. And, by this, I'm 34 years old, I have plenty of other hobbies that do not include gaming or whining about when will the next Zelda be released. And, you are absolutely right, games get delayed and got by the pandemic, although I don't understand how a work that actually asks you to be in front of a computer can get delayed, no matter what people say. I work in the front line of the pandemic, as a carer and my job never got delayed because of anything, since I cannot afford to it. Delays are common with everything, true, but what amazes me is everyone assuming that delays mean quality, which doesn't. With this said, once again, I'm not a kid to be whining, or neither do I make gaming my first entertainment choice, but truth is, I'm 34, and some things I would rather be able to see before I get to a point where I can't or won't appreciate games. This all "ready when it's done", it's mostly for kids who think they'll live forever, and reality is more cruel than that. Some games like Duke Nukem took ages to release, and by the time they did, they were already outdated and their fanbase, now with lifes, wifes, husbands or kids, couldn't care less. So, don't say that it doesn't matter how long games or any media, take to come out. It does. Time is short, and shorter still now.
@Gitface lol who got time to deal with that. I don't even want to remember the topic let alone delve into a randos crazyisms.
@SlimPieEats Ha! Fair enough I guess.
@CarlosM87 just spit balling but I’m imagining a single player 1st half in a Metroidvania style cabin that you gotta work your way around till you manage to get all the pieces to say those three magic words. Which like Ash I can never remember! Then 2nd half of the game is medieval Army of Darkness almost more beat ‘em up as the 1st half you’ve done all your (or almost most) of your upgrades so the 2nd half your just beating down deadites easily. So yeah 1st half horror 2nd half your more powerful but it ain’t easy.
Well one can dream anyway…
*edit spelling and autocorrect mistakes lol
@Filth_Element that would be actually quite nice. I wouldn't mind a more open world game or at least larger areas to explore. In the series, the action is set in the town where Ash grew up, which didn't seem that big, and could make a good set for a horror game. ED always had a sense of humor, but the demons are of the most violent and brutal I've ever seen in any media, and that would make quite an unsettling design, if incorporated well. Maybe a Silent Hill kind of thing, but with the dark humour ED always had. A shame that the past games couldn't deliver this, and hopefully this one will, with more ED then battle royale.
@CarlosM87 yeah would be great if it mixed up Silent Hill weirdness with that tinge if dark gory over-the-top humour
@Gitface I don't have time to look into everybodies username, or look at their profile.
and another game not coming to Switch day and date. Its not surprising to be honest. I would want them to take their time on the port.
Trailer looks kinda good but Switch is last priority for the developers, prob gonna look not as good as PS5 version.
Primitive Screwheads, they can’t release a game on time…
I'm okay with this delay as I trust in Saber Interactive (dev of Witcher III, Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered, World War Z, and the Crysis Remastered Trilogy for Switch), they aren't lazy with the games they port for Switch so this is okay to me. Saber Interactive and Panic Button are the only two triple a dev teams that knows the Switch inside and out so I trust them in taking more times to perfect this game for Switch.
I was planning to grab this on Steam anyway, but between this and the announcement that the PC release will be Epic-exclusive, I'll just grab the PS5 version instead. It's good that the Switch version isn't being canceled at least.
Make it good and I don’t mind the delay
@AG_Awesome I would much rather have an offline game, like the previous evil dead games. I would love those old games ported to switch. Friday 13th the game was fun in short bursts occasionally on PS4 but online games dont really do it for me and I wish there was more to games like this. I also refuse to get NSO to play one game.
@Specter_of-the_OLED both companies do remarkable work with their ports to Switch.
Panic Button only botched one and that was Apex Legends but the Source engine was too demanding anyway and it even has issues on base Xbox One and PS4
I rather they do an Army of Darkness game.
59.99 for the game plus 'season pack 1'. Which includes the first 4 dlc, contents of said dlc is undisclosed. I want to know what I'll get in this 'season pass'. Sounds almost like a loot box. 59.99 should be the price of a complete game anyway, the '1' really puts me off.
@WaveBoy clearly not, not on switch.
@ReaperMelia I was like "ohh PC version, no online fees"..."epic store?...never mind". It was an emotional rollercoaster.
@WaveBoy look at Friday 13th the game. That's probably what the Switch version will look like. I envision lots of potato mode jank. Also NSO, is slow P2P internet so you are not going to get anything silky smooth. I could barely play Mario Kart online without the game dropping out or, waiting in a lobby forever, so no, I don't think it is going to be a slick experience and 60fps is very, very unlikely.
“Evil Dead” kinda sounds like a fake zombie video game from a tv show or movie lol
The delays suck, but I'm just glad it's coming to Switch. I hope when it does arrive it has crossplay. I'm playing Friday the 13th online right now on my Switch and it's a great port and runs really well with voice chat that doesnt'n require friend codes and everything. I hope the Evil Dead game is the same quality.
@anoyonmus Playing Apex feels just fine. I think it's a decent port and Panic Button did all they can to make it work on the Switch. I don't think it could be any better given the hardware and its nothing short of a miracle given the circumstances (source engine and all). I just play on handheld so the graphics don't bother me really.
@Specter_of-the_OLED Agree its gonna be a good port for sure since Saber is doing it. I don't think the delay is going to be long either since they are very proactive in optimizing for the Switch. Even WWZ is getting patches up to now I think.
Ugh.. A year later and still no Switch release. If they canceled it, they need to say so.
