@moodycat I don't know, neither title is as good as Resi 2, 3 or 4 but I wouldn't say they were bad. I had fun with both in solo and coop.
@moodycat I played them in other consoles. They're awesome, they capture the classic Resident Evil essence.
I've already got RE0, RE1 and RE4 on Switch, and the rest on my 360, don't feel the need to double dip. Recently played thru RE5 for the first time in awhile, it's a surprisingly fun game, in spite of being where the series really started to stray from its horror roots. It's just delightfully campy,
"I JUST HAD AN EXTREME MAKEOVER!!!"
I tried to play RE6 again next, and I just couldn't do it. Definitely a series low point.
@moodycat Revelations 1 is good, Revelations 2 is better when played co-op. Both have a RAID mode that has a lot of replay value as well. I'd recommend them, especially on sale.
If someone were to buy just one of these for switch that hadn’t played any before, which one should they get?
Edit: single player, not coop unfortunately
@Pirate1 I would suggest start with RE1, or perhaps RE4 if you're in the mood for something a little more action oriented. They're both among the very best the series has to offer.
@Pirate1 REmake (aka Resident Evil) if you want an amazing survival horror game.
Resident Evil 4 if you're more into action.
A friend and I just finished the entirety of Revelations on the 3DS together in co-op. Just us sitting there like kids playing our 3DS's working to finish the game. One of the best gaming experiences we ever had, it's stunning. The 3D is really great too, would highly recommend Revelations on 3DS especially if you have someone to coop it with.
@Ralizah @OldManHermit thanks!
@moodycat I’ve played through Revelations 1 on 3DS and Wii U and it’s a really good game. It has more in common with the games from 4 onwards rather than classic Resi, but with the release of the remakes of 2 and 3 it fits I very nicely with the style of these games. Only played the first (free) chapter of revelations 2, but what I played was fun but not on the same level as the first (backgrounds are really muddy looking).
I played through 5 on the Xbox 360 solo and I found it perfectly playable (silly but playable). 6 was terrible on 360 but I got the Xbox one version for pennies and the upgrade was worth it. Again, a daft game but fun for what it was!
Capcom really need to remastered Resident Evil 2, 3, and Code Veronica X for Switch. Heck it doesn't even had to be ports of those lame remakes, just take the superior GameCube and Dreamcast versions of those games, clean up the graphics to HD 1080p, optimized performances, add some more extra contents, and some quality of life stuffs to it and sell. Easy money right there.
Maybe I’ll get revelations, I’m a little short of money but the game is great, already have 4, 5, and 6. And contrary to all, I actually like 5 and 6, I know they are not the liking to everyone, but I just have fond memories of them and I actually have a lot of fun playing them.
Always the same discounts...
@moodycat Rev 1 is probably my favorite RE game and I've played nearly all of them. To me, RE7 and 8 no longer have the RE "flavor" at their core. Rev 1 and mostly Rev 2 are the most recent games that have that core intact (imo).
@Ghost_of_Hasashi Yeah, I would love a collection of the PS1 trilogy of RE games on Switch. As for Code Veronica...I've never been too keen on that game tbh. The story is interesting, but it's always been a bit of a slog to play through imo.
@Pirate1 if you want pure horror then the original Resident Evil is best. For action Resident Evil 4 is superb.
REV 1 & 2 are again, the only ones with proper discounts.
These are hardly good deals they should discount the collections like they do on other consoles
@moodycat
Brilliant games. But buy them for raid mode.
@moodycat I would recommend Rev. 2 as it was one of my fave titles on the Xbox 360. You're forced with an AI companion if you play solo but you can swap controls between the 2 characters. It's not much of an issue compared to RE5 and the abilities of your support companions are essential to the gameplay. At $8 you should def get it. Only complain with the Switch version is the insane 23gb size it takes up on your storage which is twice that of the last gen game. Rev. 1 is ok also played it mainly because of Chris and Jill. It is quite short but undersandably so since it is a 3DS game that maxxed out the hardware at its time.
These sales have been identical since they released on Switch and have never gone into "impulse" but territory. Except for revelations 1 & 2, the rest should be similarly priced.
@moodycat got Revelations 1 on 3ds and Wii U, and it was pretty good and have Revelations 2 on Switch that's also pretty good
Yawn Same half-hearted discounts, I think I'll skip.
I enjoyed REv1 more than 2, but both are good.

I think I’m finally going to get Resident Evil 1. Haven’t played it since the GameCube days. I loved it but got stuck on the one boss because I ran out of ammo
Never beat it.
I’ll probably get 0 as well because I’ve never played that one. It feels silly to only own 1 and not 0 or vice versa.
Still too expensive IMO—these games are consistently half the price on PS, and likely perform better. Why does everything on Nintendo have to be more expensive?? 🙄
(Rhetorical question—not looking for an answer)
@moodycat I'd recommend them both, they are both great games and feel closer to RE4 then RE5 in gameplay.
I personally prefer RE Rev as the ship chapters feel like RE4 with RE1 atmosphere (the ship setting gives off a great Spencer Mansion feel of claustrophobia). But Raid mode in RE Rev 2 is definitely the better of the two.
@Pirate1 As many have mentioned to you, REmake and RE4 are just absolutely fantastic, you can't go wrong with either, just be aware of the old school tank controls in REmake reducing your freedom of movement and aim, but the tension in that game is fantastic.
Finished Revelations 1 again gonna buy and play Revelations 2 for the first time
@moodycat they are okay for the price.
But let’s be honest isn’t this franchise starting lose its appeal?
But I am thinking about to get the first part for nostalgic reasons
Still waiting for Resident Evil 7 on Switch to be not Japan exclusive!
@moodycat I really enjoyed Revelations on 3DS, I have the second one on Switch but started playing other games and neglected it. I do intend to start it over again when I’m in the right mood for that sort of game again.
@moodycat I recommend both of them. Both supports Amiibo's too.
Netflix resident evil series is out now I really should watch it to kill time, all this hype tho lol
@Ear_wiG They sadly do perform better elsewhere. RE1 and 0 suffer from longer loading on Switch, even past the door scenes. Kind of sad...
Revelations 1 and remake are best resident evil games out there
And resident evil 3 is fantastic as well
Everyone should play that sweet masterpiece 4 xx
@moodycat I enjoyed the Revelations and 5. 6 is an OK-ish zombie shooter but a mediocre Resident evil one
@Pirate1 RE1 is great. If you have a PS4 / Xbox One or their next gen variants, I'd highly recommend the REmake of Resident Evil 2 then work your way around the series. I just beat RE2 on my Series X and bought resident evil 0 & both revelations games today because I loved it so much
I think I'll get 5. Or 4. I played 4 to exahustion on my GC back in the day, unlocking everything.
Shame that 2, 3 and Code Veronica will never be ported to the Switch.
@Scrubicius Definitely not losing its appeal. Village is an awesome game, and one of my absolute favorites in the whole series. Sold over 3 million copies too.
Capcom should pay YOU $15 for suffering through RE6. Ugh...
Capcom need to stop with these high priced "sales" while selling the games for about half this discounted price on other platforms. Nintendolife should stop reporting on these "sales" until the price actually comes down. A more interesting article would be a price comparison over the platforms and retail. NL could even contact Capcom and ask why they cant price the Games at 14.99, if that is the price they repeatedly keep reducing it to.
Question: Does CAPCOM added Gyro Aiming on RE4/5/6 ?
I read it wasnt available at launch and I loved to play that way in Revelations 1/2
@moodycat 6 is the game that killed the series for me. Played every one up to that point and just fell off after this.
I realise I could just skip 6 and play 7 and 8 but the OCD demon doesn't like that
Did RE4 end up getting motion controls (RE 5 and 6 received the update, and Rev. also has it... but what about 4?)
Is it really a sale when it seems they're always on sale for me to not want to buy.
@Ear_wiG I hear you but they don‘t feel like a Resident Evil game. 🤷♂️
@Pirate1
Go with RE1 if you want survival horror at it's finest.
Yes but its all digital, so no thanks
I hate when RE0 to 6 are on sale on the Switch for twice the price as they are on sale for on PS and Xbox, every, damn, time. €4.99 on other systems at the moment.
@ss213 no, no motion controls for RE4 still. No idea why.
I kinda already own them all on switch...
@readyletsgo exactly, I can get these on Steam for between £4 and £5 plus the remakes as well for a little more and this time next year I'll be playing them all on the go too
I wanted Revelations 2 but the file size is too big for me.
I got 1, 4 & 5. Not interested in the rest.
I got RE4,5,6,7,0,1 on Steam last time they went on sale, costs me 20$ for ALL OF THEM. Lol
I got Revelations in a sale today. For 8 dollars. It is amazing and I love that mini game it has.
DEFINITELY WORTH THE PRICE IMO
