It's not every day you get to see what the president of a major company does on their day off, but today is one of those rare occasions. Nintendo of America's Doug Bowser likes to share a little bit of his personal life on social media from time to time, and in the latest update, he's revealed his love of mountain bikes and the great outdoors.
We seem to be learning more about this lifelong Nintendo fan each day. Doug's latest tweet follows on from last week's when he introduced his parents to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the Nintendo Switch.
Of course, a tweet like his latest one doesn't go unnoticed by the Nintendo community and some fans have chosen to interpret it in all sorts of ways. Some are now crying out for a new Excitebike game, while others are even suggesting he looks like a "Pro"...
Do you get out and enjoy the great outdoors every now and then? Reckon Doug took his Nintendo Switch with him on this ride? Leave a comment down below.

Being one of the head honcho's of a major company, one must really take time to enjoy the great outdoors in order not to lose ones sanity.
@Arkay
A great example of why Sakurai needs a break.
I like to take a break from console gaming by going to the arcades.
My comment has about as many interesting facts as this article.
π
@ModdedInkling Once Sakurai's done with the final two dlc packs, he needs to take a loooooooong break with how he's been working.
How about less vacation and more game making.
@HannahRPG Most of the articles that have "random" in the title are largely mundane affairs/tidbits with no real significance, and I mean it's pretty self explanatory
@Just_2_milky
Well he will take a break, who knows maybe he wonβt return.
@Nin10dood
Itβs actually sad arcades donβt exist as they used to be.
Man it be cool to walk-in and their is a Super Smash arcade where locals are competing.
@Ambassador_Kong
Unfortunately he is not in the game making Department.
Much as I don't like praising corporate folks, I can't deny that's a pretty awesome photo.
But personally, you'd NEVER see me on a bike that close to the edge. I'd walk or hike up there happily, but no way I'd ride a bike in a place like that!
@Arkay Yeah, it's soooo hard making butt loads of money, flying around on company planes or in first class, living in huge homes with more luxury than most people will ever see in their lives.
Doug Bowser seems fairly down to Earth for a corporate type, but I got no sympathy for anyone in that income bracket for "working hard". They get plenty of compensation, and then some.
@Ambassador_Kong
Sad that F-Zero Switch was cancelled just because of a Memorial Day vacation. ):
I'm so tired of driving an hour to ride ramp or a pumptrack that I haven't ridden anywhere this year yet.
I bet Dough Bowser went to Woodward. All the raddest people do it.π https://www.woodwardpa.com/bmx-freestyle-camp (I went as a teen and visited as an adult)(If your kid wants to go, send them. It's epic)
@DarthRevan456 I get that lmao, I'm just messing.
Just find it kinda funny that they wrote an entire article on some random tweet Doug made about mountain biking.
@Ambassador_Kong Reading comments like this and wondering if we really do deserve any games made for us, when we can't even be happy for someone enjoying their time outside on a vacation they more than likely earned.
@Varkster What has he earned? Mind you he is only NOA and all decisions are made in Japan. There is no Metroid, BoTW, F-Zero, and all of 3rd party support has all but dried up. Aaaannndddd there is no Gameboy Advance games for the online subscribers. Sounds like he NEEDS TO WORK OVERTIME!
@PBandSmelly yes it's to crack that whip and make people work.
I miss Reggie.
Doug Bowser is actually an anagram of Mountain Biking so this makes sense.
Wish he would be as present and fun as Reggie and the old gang. I
Nintendo lost so much personality with the end of that era.
My home state β€
I'd like to run into Nintendo leadership in Moab sometime. Doug should tell Masahiro how nice it is over there (when it's not packed).
@Ambassador_Kong how about you go and make us some games?
Wow everyone really did start mountain biking last summer.
That back drop is stunning!
@Ambassador_Kong How about you go do your own job without vacation at all and see how long it takes for you to yearn for a day off.
Please don't be greedy. Game developers are people too. They don't exist just to make games for you. They have lives of their own.
@N8tiveT3ch that's not his job at all. He manages the business side of American distribution, sales, investment, Western 3rd party relations, works to make sure western 1st party devs have what they need to do their jobs and to make sure the boat runs smoothly. That's a rather important job. Sure we can say the Japanese Head Office does more work (they would it's the head office afterall), but you don't get to the top of the corporate ladder by not being a hard worker.
@Wexter so it doesn't mean Reggie had whip to make certain games happen?π
More MOAB.... Unreal engine 5 nanite and lumen coming to Switch Pro confirmed
I too miss Reggie. Not in a delusional "he was a true gamer and Bowser is not"-kind of way (Reggie's #1 passion was to sell products and run a successful business, not gaming or Nintendo-culture). I don't really get Bowser at all. He is this fake-friendly american business-guy in a suit that says some forgetable business-phrases about making consumers happy with "exciting new games" and stuff like that...
@Ambassador_Kong
Nintendo of America barely makes games (if you exclude Next Level Games and Retro Studios. Bowser's mostly in charge of advertising.
@Heavyarms55 lmao okay pal, let's tone down the jealousy.
Why is Doug Bowser out having fun when he should be in the kitchen making me sandwiches and massaging my feet and whispering sweet nothings into my ear?
Disgraceful.
If he's smart he is definitely not doing that with the 2nd in command at Nintendo. Otherwise I'd launch a full investigation to make sure the 2nd in command didn't cut his breaks or push him over a edge if something happens. Or something more discreet like encouraging him to try the trails "Dead Man's Pass" or "The Widow Maker"...
@N8tiveT3ch Reggie also was known to be rather skeptical of JRPGs considering we had to beg to get the first Xenoblade (after NOE localized it first) and Pandora's Tower and Last Story had to be released though XSeed. That and where is Mother 3? Also, the who Wii U advertising disaster was also at Reggie's feet.
Reggie is awesome, but he still screwed the pooch on things.
Now I'm imagining Bowser doing a hop on that bike and speeding a cliff down like those extreme biking shows on TV
Doug Bowser's bicycle is ready.
Took his switch with him? Don't think he even pLays games...
@HannahRPG Ah alright
That dude who replied on Twitter has the right idea. Let's pester him about the switch pro rumours during his off time, that will surely help the cause
