THQ Nordic and Rainbow Studios have announced that MX vs ATV All Out will be racing onto a Nintendo Switch near you this September.
Described as "the complete off-road racing and lifestyle experience", the game has players choosing from bikes, ATVs and UTVs and refining their rider style and their own private compound before setting off for some good old arcade racing. It features Supercross, Nationals, Opencross, Waypoint and Freestyle competition, and also lets you speed around "massive open worlds".
Here's a feature list:
Game Features:
- 2 player split-screen and 8 player online mode
- Compete in various modes like Supercross, Nationals, Opencross, Waypoint, Tag and more!
- Master insane stunts and test your limits in freestyle mode
- Turn your garage into a show room for all of your customized vehicles
- Select your own style from numerous gear companies or compete with one of the many top pro riders from around the world
It's set to launch on 1st September, which is amazingly already less than two months away.
What do you think? Will you be giving this a go on Switch? Let us know in the usual place.

This announcement has made my day. Used to love this series back in the ps2 GameCube era. Hell I've still got one for the psp. Now seems like a good time to jump back in.
Hopefully the “huge open world” doesn’t turn out to be some crappy areas fit together. I hate it when they do that.
Had a blast playing ATV Offroad Fury 4 on PS2 with my brother. Have always wanted to get a game like this with online play so we could do it again.
I really hope this is good. I feel like with this series they just can't seem to get it right with something. They say practice makes perfect but in this case that philosophy seems to not apply even though there's been a bunch in the series. Guess we'll see.
@Apportal_SMM2 It will be interesting to see what they mean by open world. Is that for the whole game, or just certain modes? Ubisoft's Steep took skiing and snowboarding and turned it loose in an open world... And it showed how important track design is. God, that game was boring because it just felt like you were wandering around with no real goal.
If it runs well it's a must buy.!
It would be good if it runs well. This is the PS4 version in the trailer. The switch is going to be hugely downgraded from this.
@TheFox by “they” I meant companies in general, who have 5 or so completely different areas with no connection and describe it as an “open world”. I hope it’s not, my mind can really get lost in open world games.
@Apportal_SMM2 One possibility I could see is the open compound in the Monster Energy Motocross games. The main game is all on closed tracks in arenas, but there's a mode in an open world (sort of, it's not exactly a huge open world). But kind of like what I described in Steep, you just drive around. There's some cool obstacles to do tricks off of, but again, there doesn't seem to be any real purpose or goal. It definitely feels like an afterthought, an extra mode that has nothing to do with the main game but allowed them to put a cool sounding blurb about free roaming on the box. Of course since it is a separate mode, if you don't like it (myself included), it's easy enough to ignore and doesn't hurt the main game.
@Dr_Corndog Oh man, that was the one I used to play the heck out of with my siblings... I hope this one delivers, even if all it does it stoke my nostalgia
All right!! MX vs ATV Reflex was an absolutely fantastic and fun off road racer. This is just what the Switch needs. Should beat the pants off all those wacky pretenders currently on the e-shop.
@RustedHero I think the problem is they got it near perfect with Reflex, and weren't really sure what to do next.
It wont look anything like that trailer or run very well. It struggles on my sons ps4
I never played that series before I bought a copy of Mx vs ATV Supercross Encore for XB1 for a ridiculous $0.99 brand new... and... I played less than hour with it. And I consider this an hour of my life I won't get back. The controls were beyond horrible. I usually love offroad racing and the likes, but this was unplayable to me. So maybe this new one is better? The one I played made me very wary of that series (nothing like a bad first impression).
I find Motoracer 4 for the Switch to be better, and that title is quite the trainwreck.
Anwyays... I know this would be impossible, but can Codemaster or someone else create a followup to that old FUEL game? THAT was truly an open-world racer (with an INSANELY LARGE world map), and aside from the cheating AI, is a title I can still enjoy today on my XB1 (through backward compatibility) and on my PC. At least this one had tight controls IMO, and graphics that still look damn fine to me these days.
@Realnoize I have this on Xbox One and it's nothing special. The Monster Energy Supercross games are pretty much the best dirt bike games right now. I would only recommend checking this out if it's on sale for really cheap.
@JayJ
I always was suspicious towards the Monster Supercross one, and I know it's stupid, but it was down to its super long and silly name. I usually try to stay away from "sponsored" racing games because they're usually not very good. And this dates back to those "Ford Racing" days on the PS1 lol!
But I might look into this one if you say it's worth it when on sale. With Moto Racer 4 on Switch being as unplayable as it is (with framerate sometimes dropping in the single digit, no joke!) it would be nice to have an offroad racer that plays well on the platform.
@Realnoize Yeah Monster Energy Supercross 2 and 3 are actually good games on the Switch. It's called that because that's what they call the actual series, it's a much higher quality game than something like Moto Racer.
