Zorua is a cute little fox Pokémon, but in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, it's hard to find — because it likes to disguise itself as other Pokémon, like a Zorua. But Zorua is also far more skittish than a Zorua, so finding one and catching one can be very difficult.
Here's how to find your very own Zorua!
Pokémon Scarlet & Violet: Where Do I Find Zorua?
Zorua are found in North Province (Area One) and West Province (Area Three). We managed to catch several Zorua in quick succession just outside Medali, so we recommend heading there to find a Zorua.
There are a few ways to identify a Zorua.
One is that you can engage a wild Pokémon in a battle. If your enemy Pokémon is a Zorua, it will transform as soon as the battle starts, so you can run away immediately if your chosen foe isn't a Zorua.
However, there's also a quicker way. Press the 'ZL' button and use the right stick to "lock on" to a Pokémon in the wild. This way you can see the names of the Pokémon before you encounter them (if you've encountered them before, that is).
If you haven't caught a Zorua before, the name above a Pokémon will appear as "???" That's your sign to start a battle — just make sure it's not an auto-battle, because you won't know that it was a Zorua until it's too late and your lead Pokémon has defeated it!
After you've caught your first Zorua, the "???" will show up as "Zorua" instead.
You can use picnics to respawn the Pokémon around you. If you can't find a Zorua, set up a picnic and take it down again to respawn the Pokémon in the area. You can also run in and out of Medali if you're nearby to do the same thing, but be careful that you don't enter the town accidentally when you don't want to!
We've also noticed a few behavioural differences in Zorua when it mimics other Pokemon. They're much more afraid of you than most Pokémon, and will run away with sweat marks coming out of their head. If a Pokémon starts to run away from you, lock onto it with ZL to check if it's an imposter! This is also a good way to easily find Zorua in an area where they spawn — just run around until a Pokémon behaves differently than usual.
When you're in battle with a Zorua, you can use a Quick Ball to catch it fast, or the usual techniques of whittling down its health and inflicting status effects. Just don't defeat it — or you'll spend ages trying to find another. And you want to avoid this screen at all costs!
We're still working on these Pokémon Scarlet & Violet walkthrough guides and adding information in the days and weeks after launch. Let us know if you're finding these helpful so far.
