While Super Mario 3D World is most definitely a good time, those of you who have already experienced the game on Wii U will be most interested in the excellent Bowser's Fury expansion, which offers an open-world setting with Cat Shines to collect.

In this guide, we'll be showing you all of the Cat Shine locations in Bowser's Fury.

Flaptrap Fort Cat Shine locations

Once you've found all of the Cat Shines at Scamper Shores, head upwards to reach Fort Flaptrap. The moment you walk through the archway you'll encounter your first Cat Shine challenge.

Flaptrap Fort Cat Shine "Bully The Cat Bullies"

Climb the walls and you'll come to a platform filled with trapdoors, and a bunch of cat-like enemies. The object is to dunk them into the lava below. Bowser Jr will help you with this (if you've opted to have him assist) but you can use the Fire Flower's fireballs to push them into the holes, or you can lure them onto the platform and then trigger it by jumping, sending them to a fiery demise. Once you've eliminated all of the enemies, the Cat Shine will appear.

Flaptrap Fort Cat Shine "Blue Coin Bustle"

Leave the island and return, and you should see a big blue 'P' button at the base of the fort. Jump on it and blue coins will magically appear; you need to collect them all before the time limit expires to get the Cat Shine. There are three sets of coins that appear one after the other; the first is on the platforms on the side of the fort, the second and third sets are on the top of the fort.

It can be tricky getting your timing right for this, but don't worry if you mess up – you can hit the button and try again, as many times as you like.

Flaptrap Fort Cat Shine "Shows Over, Cat Magikoopas"

Exit the area and return, then climb to the top of the fort. You'll need to get rid of the posse of Cat Magikoopas to obtain this Shine. Using Fire Flower power-up helps, but Bowser Jr will take care of the Cat Magikoopas as well if you've told him to help you out a lot.

Flaptrap Fort Cat Shine "Five Cat Shine Shards"

Yep, more Cat Shine Shards to collect, five in total. The first one is right in front of you as you approach the fort from the archway.

Another Cat Shine Shard is located to the right of the fort, next to some trees.

From that Cat Shine Shard, head forward and you'll spot the Shard at the top of a tree. Shimmy up the tree and it's yours. (Note: if Fury Bowser has destroyed the tree you'll need to exit the island and return so it respawns.)

From the top of the tree, you can probably spot the next Shard. It's behind the lighthouse, at the top of the fort.

The final shard is at the base of the fort, on the beach. Be aware that you'll need to be Cat Mario to get this one. Smash through the bricks and a secret passage appears.

Flaptrap Fort Cat Shine "Blast The Fury Blocks"

Drop down to the beach around the base of the fort and you'll find some Bowser Blocks. Wait for Fury Bowser to destroy them and you've got another Shine to collect underneath.

Another five Cat Shines obtained! Make your way to Pounce Bounce Isle!
