Neo Turf Masters (Neo Geo)

Thought we’d forgotten this one, eh? Neo Turf Masters (or Big Tournament Golf as it’s known in the US) is a satisfying arcade take on the game and one which still holds up very well to this day.

The lack of career mode means it’s hardly a long term investment, but as short and sweet arcade golf games go, this is a great one. Just don’t expect to be playing it for hours on end.

Mario Golf: Super Rush (Switch)

Mario Golf: Super Rush is a game that in many respects hits its marks. Golf Adventure has plenty of charm and offers a fun way to learn various mechanics and unlock courses. Away from that solo endeavour there are decent options and customisation for multiplayer games, local or online, button controls or motion-based swinging.

It's not a premium effort, however, with a nagging feeling of corners cut and at times an absence of creativity. However, many players should get a good amount of fun out of this one, both solo and with friends. This ain't the Masters, but for Mario Golf fans it is a solid par.

PGA Tour 2K21 (Switch)

How is PGA Tour 2K21 on Switch? Glad you asked. It plays a solid golf game with enough flexibility in its control settings to appeal to both die-hard simulation buffs and casual golf fans just looking for a quick round.

Its real-life pro players are so underused they may as well not be in here and the game may not yet have the typical 2K Sports trademarks – the polished story mode, the slick TV-style presentation – but it also isn't plagued with microtransactions, and the result is a game that, refreshingly, just gets on with it.

Golf Club: Wasteland (Switch eShop)

Golf Club: Wasteland offers simple, straightforward gameplay with pleasant visuals and barely any UI to get in the way the view of its post-apocalyptic 'fairways'. Neat tunes and background story points provide some nice narrative texture and help bolster the golf, which can get a bit repetitive after a while.

Some tiresome neon signs adorning the environment riled us up a little bit, but if you're looking for a golf game that offers something a bit different, Golf Club: Wasteland is definitely worth a twilight round.

Mario Golf (N64)

Camelot brought Mario and his golfing pals onto the 3D fairways in this excellent entry in his catalogue of sports games. This game also linked up with the superlative Mario Golf for Game Boy Color. They're very different games, and the handheld version is probably even better thanks to its brilliant RPG elements, but together they make an unbeatable pair.

When we're disappointed that later games like Super Rush don't match the quality of older entries, it's Mario Golf that we're remembering with a faraway wistful look in our eyes. That it's now available on Switch via the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack means we're back to our old routine of shooting a swift round with Plum of a Sunday afternoon.

Cursed to Golf (Switch eShop)

Cursed to Golf is an interesting and enjoyable golf game, mixing creative power-ups and roguelike design with tried-and-true golf mechanics. Though we felt the roguelike elements held this one back a bit and the soundtrack can sometimes get irritating, the polished gameplay, appealing art style, and high replay value make this one an easy recommendation.

If you’re at all a fan of golf games, we’d suggest you pick this up immediately, but even if you’re just looking to try something new, we’d encourage you to give it a shot.

Easy Come Easy Golf (Switch eShop)

Coming from Clap Hanz, the studio behind Everybody's Golf / Hot Shots Golf, this is a port of the Apple Arcade title Clap Hanz Golf, and it's a fine one. Easy Come Easy Golf is very easy to recommend to golf game fans and represents a great Nintendo debut for the Everybody's Golf series, offering enjoyable and polished golf with some fun twists while offering a huge amount of content to unlock and solid multiplayer options.

Even with minor performance hitches and some iffy audio, we found ourselves having plenty of fun and kept coming back for a few extra holes. It's well below par, which as any golfer will tell you in an exasperated tone, is a good thing.

Plenty of rounds of golf to keep you busy on Switch for the time being, with plenty of variety!

Nintendo Switch Golf Games FAQs

If you're not sure where or how to tee up, let us guide you down the green and answer the most common golf game questions.

Is Nintendo Switch Sports Golf realistic?

Although Nintendo Switch Sports itself doesn't do quite enough to escape the shadow of Wii Sports for our liking, its Golf game — added post-launch in a free update — delivers the same brand of motion-based golfing you'd expect.

Is it realistic? Well, not exactly, but just as Wii Sports did, by simulating the motion of a golf swing, it does a decent job of feeling more like the actual sport than if you're sitting on a sofa poking buttons. Throw in wind and green gradients and the like, and yes, it's not unrealistic, we suppose. Check out the video below for a look at the game in action and see for yourselves.

Is PGA Tour 2023 on Switch?

Nope, PGA Tour 2K23 isn't on Nintendo Switch. PGA Tour 2K21 is the only entry to come to Switch, unfortunately.
