Review Hero of Sparta (DSiWare)
God of War for cheapskates
Gameloft is often panned for making games that look, play and feel similar to other titles, and its latest is no exception. Taking obvious inspiration from Sony's God of War series, this is a fairly linear 3D beat 'em up with a Greek mythology theme. As King Argos, who has washed up on a beach somewhere and lost his entire...

Gameloft's new DSiWare title exposed
You can't knock Gameloft's commitment to DSiWare, with a constant supply of titles since the format launched in April 2009. The publisher's newest outing Hero of Sparta was originally a mobile title but is receiving the DSi treatment with all-new features and some pretty good graphics. There's not much...
About The Game
You wake up alone on an unknown beach to find your boat and entire fleet missing. It's the beginning of an epic odyssey to find out just what game the gods are playing with you, King Argos.
Your fate now lies in their hands. Battle like the fierce Spartan warrior you are to avoid a tragic death as you journey through mythical lands and even probe the depths of the Underworld. You will fight the most phenomenal monsters from mythology, defy Minotaurs and the Cyclops, and challenge the gods themselves. Unleash your hero's special powers by performing combos to defeat legions of enemies in thrilling fights. You'll have fabulous equipment and four mythic weapons to upgrade: draw your mythic swords, axe and shield. Fight, explore and solve puzzles - this is more than a basic hack-and-slash. Use the exclusive camera feature to collect epic pictures and become a real hero yourself.

Nice! Looks like this will be a good release optimized for DS instead of a mobile phone java port. Still not sure about the necessity of these photo-features though. But as long as they don't impair gameplay I have nothing against it.
Wish Gameloft would port/make some more games for Wiiware however. NOVA with Wii Remote aiming could be great!
Graphics are bueatiful. Definitely worth a hefty 800 points. I might get this once it's released in Europe.
defy the gods themselves? not exactly trying to hide their obvious God of war inspiration, bordering on rip off even.. but who cares it looks fun
FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously...
Hero of Sparta is 2 dollars in the app store.
Rip off much?
so I got it.... and... his is actually pretty good. obvious GoW rip off, right down to the quick time event minotaur kills
No one has said it yet?
THIS
IS
SPARTA!!!!
Looks interesting. Will have to look more into it though.
@SuperTeeter
I said it in the forums
Curses!!
Someone did beat me to it... Well I said it here!
For the DS the graphics are fine but lacking the polish of the iPone version. It plays very on the rails... you can jump but only when the game requires you to so its hard to kill yourself by jumping the wrong way, because of this its not really an exploration type game which was it is to a certain extent on the standard mobile version. I paid the 800 points for it and as DSi games go, I am happy enough with it, but like with a lot of Gameloft games, there is just something missing to make it a great game. Using the rating system here I would give it a 7/10.. Oh yes its just over £1 for the iPhone version £5 for the android £4 for the PSP and £3 for the standard mobile version.. by my calculations its £7 for the DSi version. Not a staggering amount for a game but why the dearest, Nintendo distribution overheads ?
WOW it realy looks like a ok DSiware game! (be nice if i had the points to get it)
