Throwing the game
Pikmin, as a franchise, is arguably a mid-tier IP for Nintendo - perhaps not in terms of quality, but it is nevertheless refused the same priority and release frequency as other highly successful and profitable Nintendo brands. The Wii / DS generation passed with nothing but re-releases, before Pikmin 3 gave us a timely...

Poll Box Art Brawl - Duel: Hey! Pikmin
Hey! Another brawl
Hello everybody, and welcome to the latest edition of Box Art Brawl! Last time, we took a look at Kirby Mass Attack for the Nintendo DS. It wasn't quite as close as we were admittedly expecting, with the North American version easily beating the competition with 65% of the vote. This week, we're skipping ahead to the 3DS and the...
Poll Which Dormant Nintendo Franchise Would You Most Like To See Return?
We'll never let go
Whenever Nintendo brings a franchise back from the brink of extinction, it's always cause for significant celebration. Take Pikmin, for example: yes, it's hardly the most obvious example since we received Hey! Pikmin in 2017, but it's been over a decade since Pikmin 3 launched on the Wii U. Despite the ongoing rumours and hints...
Poll Pikmin Is Now 20 Years Old - Which Is Your Favourite Game In The Series?
Whistle-blower
With all the talk around the launch (and state) of Nintendo 64 games with the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack, it may well have slipped your notice that Pikmin — the Nintendo RTS series that grew from an idea Shigeru Miyamoto had while chilling in his garden — is now two decades old. Yes, time marches on and we retro gaming...
Feature It's Been Nearly Five Years, So Where In The World Is Pikmin 4?
We propose and pick apart Pikmin 4 theories
Last year we looked at the dormant Nintendo franchises we'd like to see return on Switch, and our desire to see any or all of those series again still burns strong in 2020. With Nintendo's biggest money-spinners having received a Switch entry already, it's now time to bring back some of the company's...

Hey! Pikmin struggled, however
The latest UK chart results are in, and it's established titles that are mostly leading the way, with the most recent Switch hit showing that it has some potential longevity. Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is still top of the charts for PS4, but in a repeat of last week Splatoon 2 is just behind in second place...
News Hey! Pikmin Shows Nintendo Still Has A Soft Spot For Rare
A tribute to an "Enduring Partnership"
Rare and Nintendo enjoyed a particularly profitable relationship back in the '80s and '90s, with the UK-based studio creating hordes of titles for the NES, Game Boy, SNES and N64. So close was the connection between the two companies that Nintendo eventually purchased a large stake in Rare and made it a...

Preview Whistling for Attention in Hey! Pikmin
A small world
It's been pleasing for 3DS owners to see that, while a shiny alternative is on the market, the successful family of portables continues to have an important role in Nintendo's plans. With titles like Metroid: Samus Returns and of course Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon on the way, the era of dual screens and some stereoscopic 3D isn't...
Hands On Hey! Read These Hey! Pikmin Impressions
Hey! Listen!
This week - in New York City - Nintendo invited us to play Hey! Pikmin, the first title in the series developed outside of Nintendo's internal teams. Hey! Pikmin is being developed by Arzest, the studio behind Yoshi's New Island, which failed to make a big splash with 3DS owners. Hey! Pikmin takes a totally new approach with the...
About The Game
A new side-scrolling Pikmin adventure game unlike Pikmin games of the past is coming to Nintendo 3DS. Pikmin follow Olimar around, and players tap the touch screen where they want to throw them. This is designed as an action game that makes players think fast and use every Pikmin to overcome anything that stands in their way. The game is scheduled to launch in 2017.

Please don't mess this up, Nintendo.
Besides my worries, this game reminds me of Kirby Canvas Curse, a game from the early DS lineup that only used the stylus.
