http://uk.wii.ign.com/articles/108/1083154p1.html it's a pretty lenghty article that basically says that shooters are potentially better on wii, cause the controls, such as reloading and opening doors aren't as taking for granted as with a one button push on the more powerful consoles. thus, making the gameplay more viscaral and more rewarding, since rethinking automatisms like reloading or aiming in a whole different way.

I read the whole article and I seem a bit confused. I'm not some Halo-loving moron who can't comprehend anything fun other than blowing up aliens with over-sized Fisher Price toys, but what's the whole thing about the character movement being slower and more human-like as a plus to the overall game? Am I missing something here?

I suggest you don't read the comments. They'll probably drop your I.Q. As for the article, I mostly agree with it. I think that Wii has the potential to have great shooters, but so far, PS3/360 have done it better.
I think Wii shooters are better simply because IR aiming and turning is so much better than anything that's ever been done with dual-analog controls.
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.
After expierencing Metroid Prime 3(especially) and RE4: Wii Edition with Wii Controls I'll never go back to Dual Analog or Keyboard and Mouse. Both control schemes are boring and archiac in comparison. I'd rather feel like I'm a part of the game by using the Wii remote which makes the expierence Immersive, intuitive, engaging, natural and so much fun.
And serously, what's the deal with IGN lately? Bozon jumped ship, Their articles have been ridiculous and NIntendo bashy. then Matt C whips out a 'Wii goes hardcore' article which was cleary retarted since everybody already knew that those so called hardcore games were coming out this year. And what really pissed me off was their new Red Steel Article(Other IGN editors opinions) regarding the game. Matt C and Craig were both on the money, while the rest were just stupid and flat out retarted..... i don't even want to get into it. IGN is becoming a joke. That greg miller guy is a complete idiot....Saying he'd rather lay on the couch and play a game with a great story. meaning for him, gameplay comes last and he hates motion controls because he's a lazy fat ass. I'm guessing he doesn't care for Mario, Zelda or Metroid and every other NIntendo franchises since they're not exactly heavy on stories. There were some other dumb comments as well....see for yourself.
IGN is full of Nintendo haters, and what's the deal with their random gaming articles? It's like there's hardly any news anymore
So because there's one good FPSer on the Wii, that makes the Wii the best console for FPSers?
I like Wii FPSers, don't get me wrong - Onslaught and Quantum of Solace are two favourite games of mine, and Water Warfare is great multiplayer fun. But against the sheer weight of quality PS3 and Xbox 260 FPSers - from A-list (Halo) to more niche titles (Darkness), the Wii doesn't stand up, at all.
Yes, Red Steel 2 is good, but just because the Playstation 3 has the definitive version of Final Fantasy XIII, doesn't make it the definitive console for JRPGs, when you consider the Nintendo DS has a few million great examples of the genre.

It's because there isn't any news. It's the dead period for the industry. Few game releases, fewer game announcements. Random gaming articles are good for keeping the hit count up through the lulls of no news.
I think it has the potential to be the best, but I don't think the selection is anywhere near what there is on the other consoles when it comes to quality titles.
For me though, I HATE dual analog controls. They're so clunky. I'd rather play anything other than a FPS on PS360, just because I can't get into the controls. That being said, shoddy knockoffs of those games on Wii don't make me race to Gamestop either. I AM really looking forward to finally playing Prime Trilogy, and I'm sure I'll pick up Red Steel 2. That should last me a while. It's really just a matter of what type of games you like though.
Shooting is better on the Wii. Sadly, shooters aren't.
Sure, MP3 and Resi 4 are great games with immersive controls. However, they're not really shooters; the emphasis on puzzle solving in both games is quite heavy making them more like action adventures and the latter has its survival horror roots too. Red Steel 2 is a huge improvement on the first game, but it's still not the sort of game you could imagine many people rushing out to buy a Motion Plus for let alone a Wii. Then we've got the ports like of Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, etc. which I'd have to say tend to lose more than they gain in coming to the Wii. Finally, we're left with The Conduit as about the only serious attempt to make a high end online FPS that's optimized for the Wii; HVS got a lot of things right with it, but more than enough wrong for it not to make the grade.
On the other hand the Wii is definitely rail shooter heaven. Between the likes of Umbrella Chronicles, HotD: Overkill, Ghost Squad and Dead Space Extraction it's easily the all time pick for them. However, they're invariably seen as the poor relation of the free roaming games and not entirely without good reason.
The Wii is my personal favourite console for shooters, but only because I prefer rail shooters to standard FPS games. I thought The Conduit controlled very sloppily and found myself yearning for dual analogue when I played it, but tbh I'd rather just play Overkill, Umbrella Chronicles, Ghost Squad or Dead Space: Extraction.

I do enjoy the greater interactivity as suggested. It seems simple and lame, but doing the safecracking in Red Steel 2, using the ASE in The Conduit and using the nunchuk motion to charge the gates in Metroid Prime 3 do add some variety to the gameplay you don't get with pressing a button to pull a lever as you'll see in games on the PC/PS360.
I've also found, that paintbrushes are really good for painting.
I'd read the article but I don't wanna waste my time, it's kinda pointing out the obvious dontcha think? Oooh pointy thing, good for pointing. Duuuurgh!
