Topic: Monster Mayhem: Build and Battle

So I was doing a review for Monster Lab on Amazon (under the moniker NYJ) and noticed a game with a similar premise. It's called (as the title suggests) Monster Mayhem: Build and Battle. Amazon says it is going to be released on September 1st, 2009 for $20 but I can't find reviews of it. I tried searching here and couldn't even come up with anything readily. Is this game actually coming out for the Wii in a couple of weeks? If so, has anyone heard anything about it? I definitely love Monster Lab (just like I loved Mail Order Monsters, and the entire Monster Rancher series) and wouldn't mind dropping twenty ducats if the game holds its own.

I've never heard of it either. It could be a budget release from the same people that did the Popcorn series of games in which case it will be completely ignored and probably deservedly so.

I've reviewed Monster Lab for NL and quite enjoyed it. I've got a little tip sheet on my blog as well if you're interested. I'd offer to have a go online, but in practice trying to coordinate online play between the UK and the states always poses a problem due to the time difference.

Spore Hero looks like it might deliver a similar experience, but it's not clear to me if the combat is turned-based or not. I'm concerned that if it's real-time the actual make-up of your monster's offensive bits might not matter too much in practice outside of being generic stabby, bashing appendages.

Thanks Sean. The game is by Crave Entertainment, but I cannot think of another of their games at the moment. May be a buyer beware sort of game. But if it does come out I'll be sure to review it if folks are interested.
