I think its a general online fix and the Conduit just benefited from it as I know even once the Guitar Hero 5 store was up and running it had a lot of issues (here in the uk) until the latest update, now no issues what so ever. By the way, update hadnt killed my Launch day wii after running this update and I have had during its lifetime some soft modding homebrew on the system really early on. Its not been on my system for a while but I just thought that people who may have used the twilight hack in the past the run some homebrew may have been worried about running the updatte.

Sadly no, but apperently, it did fix The Conduit spawn glitch, although it has been proven false when ChaosLord from IGN reported that after he updated to 4.2, he still got it.
So no, nothing happen. What a totally worthless update, I wonder if Super Smash Bros. Brawl improve any. Maybe I'll play it if the online wasn't so damn laggy.
@Ramandus: it always tells me that after an update... i dunno why, though.

Besides possibly installing the Brick Channel, there is nothing else that happens with this update. This is the most worthless update I have seen, way to go Nintendo. I'm going to wait for a future update, there is no need of possibly bricking my Wii until there is a brick-free update.
It seems this update was only used to try and delete the homebrew channel. There seems to be no beneficial addition for users. Which is really sad on Nintendo's part. Making EVERYONE update the system when no one gets anything out of it.
No, it doesn't. It ATTEMPTS to kill homebrew, but there was already a workaround within 24 hours. Way to go Ninty! Brick legal consumers by changing a boot file while the hackers are still up and running. (like me, lol)
Even Blockhead accidentaly had his brother update to 4.2 and he was able to reinstall ALL of his homebrew apps (including USB Loader and Backup Loader), in less than 2 days. Bannerbomb is already revived, there is a new HackMii installer, and Nintendo is going back to the drawing board, as well as losing 15% of their online consumer base.
@SS1990 The only "brick-free" updates now are the ones you get through official homebrew sites, but please Google them for yourself, as Nintendo Life prefers we not post information regarding where to find homebrew apps on the internet, Nintendo has lost it. (The "Brick Channel", lol) sorry to edit you again, Chatham... -- theblackdragon
Besides all these, I noticed that my Metroid Prime Trilogy's load times have been reduced greatly, except for those stupid doors. I have also heard it frees about 6 blocks of memory on the Wii's flash drive.
