The problem with Zelda now is due to us fans. Nintendo can't change the series too much or we fans will complain about the "timeline". I mean, i want something different, but we fans are bringing the downfall of the series. Stop demanding because noone knows what they want. Nintendos failing due to Miyamoto holding them back. He wants the company to remain oldschool. He disapproves almost all ideas for new Zelda mechanics and he takes credit for alot of things. I hope he retires soon and leaves zelda for the next generation of good game designers. Anouma does a good job, and seems very open to suggestion, hopefully Nintendo will start some new franchises instead of continuing old ones
Do you like videogames? If so, you must know
It's dangerous to go Alone.
That's because Elder Scrolls didn't build itself around a couple of characters. Link and Zelda are central to the franchise. That's like asking for a Mario game that doesn't have Mario in it

So much for that free of judgement idea. I called it at start of the thread.
You're good. You should be the fortune teller in the next Zelda game.
I'd personally like to see them flesh out the item upgrading system that they brought to the table in Skyward Sword. I'd like to see them expand on it. Maybe add some customization. Maybe the type of string you have on your bow could affect the power, accuracy and distance of your shot. I'd also like to see the magic meter return and for them to bring back some of the musical elements and the importance and uses of music. Oh, and make Princess Zelda somewhat important in the games (they were going in the right direction in Skyward Sword, but then in ALBTW they stepped backward).
.
In my opinion, they don't need to focus on topping the last game. They need to focus on making a good and fresh game that isn't like anything out there already. Hence why we don't need "Zelda Scrolls".

I'm surprised they haven't used the Magic Meter since Wind Waker. I'd like to see the return of magic.
Zelda should be more important. Maybe she can be a partner for Link...in full body too. No kidnapping.

Am I the only one don't really want magic meter to come back? Also didn't ALBW somewhat use it? I thought Skyward Sword is an only game since Twilight Princess that doesn't have magic meter. @_@
I remember people talking about giving Link voice acting, and most are against it because YOU are the Hero and that's why he doesn't talk... If that's the case, then why can't character customization become a thing? If we are the character, then shouldn't we be able to make it resemble us? You guys contradict yourselves so much. If we are to feel like we are the Hero, then character customization should be an option. If Link IS the Hero, then he should be allowed to have voice acting. Well guys? Is HE the hero, or are WE the hero?

i have no doubt that if the series takes the voice acting route, it will be an absolute trainwreck. if Link must talk, i would rather read text than hear him actually speak.

a mario game without mario in it? i can think of one.
all i'm saying is that zelda needs more change than a renting system to fix it. something unexpected is the best course of action, but right now we're all playing as the same hero from before going through the same dungeons, often fighting for the same princess, often fighting the same ganon, often for the same triforce of courage. by now it's formulaic. i predicted everything in the Windwaker HD before i'd ever played it.

@HappyHappyist Everybody knew the plot of WWHD already, it's a remake of a ten year old game, lol.
it was still the first time i'd played WindWaker. i'd never played the original, this is what i got. i never watched spoiler videos because i knew i'd be getting this. i hadn't played the game before, yet i could still predict everything that happened.

but it means Zelda games were predictable ten years ago, or rather, the old Zeldas are predictable to those who played a few Zelda games(just being technical here)

AND Mario IS in it...
so it's not a Mario game without Mario in it
and how large a role does mario play in it? not a big role at all. you don't play as mario, and he's not the reason you play it. however, it is a mario game. it uses official mario characters, it's set in the mushroom kingdom, and if you ask Miyamoto, he will probably say its a mario game.

the game was released for a brand new console. the new game isn't ten years old, it's not even one year old. they re-released it as a new game (with several updated features), and it will be treated like that. i won't bash older game for their story because they weren't about the story. OoT and beyond are where story suddenly became important, and i fear that story-telling is becoming more important to nintendo, as evidenced by SS, TP, and WW. it's scary, because nintendo are better game makers than they are story-tellers.

well I want to disagree about Luigi's Mansion I want BADLY to diasgree but to do it I'd have to consider that Zelda games aren't Zelda games because she isn't the main playable character.......
