So one of my Super Mario Maker levels just got deleted due to "inactivity" and I was wondering if there was a way of re-uploading it? Just trying to upload it again doesn't work, and even if I change some of it or save it as a new level Nintendo still won't let me re-upload it. I spent a really long time on the level and want to be able to show it to friends; is there any way of re-uploading the level?
An aside, it really sucks that Nintendo is doing this. I understand that they're trying to thin out the rubbish levels, but this is not the way to be doing it... -_-
Animal Crossing and Pokemon and Fantasy Life, oh my!
It happened to me before. I didn't find any easy way without having to recreate it.
Does it work, when you had several save files for the same level. I save every change in my level in a new save file. So could I load an old save file and upload that?

No idea, since I only save each level once. I'd guess that would work, but I can't be sure.

I think it won't work if the changes are only minor. I once wanted to add checkpoints to an existing level (MM is still lacking an update feature, which is a standard in software development, just saying...), just saved it into another slot, added the checkpoint and tried to upload it. But the game said I can't upload the same level again. And what @teamshortcut wrote does seem to confirm that a few changes aren't enough either.
@teamshortcut: I'm not really sure since I'm just about to upload a new level that is based on one of my existing levels (but deviated so much from it that it's basically a new level with a new name), but didn't manage to clear it yet.
But since many other creators did sequels to their own levels, maybe you just have to change more of it? I mean, how much did you change exactly before trying to reupload? Maybe try to take the opportunity to straighten out some weaknesses or to mix it up/ make it more interesting, to add new elements and make it a new level while keeping the charme of the original one.
I guess this could be only way to at least keep something from the old level. I don't know how the game detects similarity, but I'd guess it just analyzes the game block for block. So maybe there is a % threshold of changed blocks that needs to be fullfilled so that it counts as a new level?

I uploaded one of my levels with minor changes 5 or 6 times. There were no problems at all.
Moreover, adding one check point and upload it again did always work for all of my levels.
Never heard of something like that before. I did get a level of mine deleted once but nothing on the screen told me why. And I could re-upload it no problem whatsoever. And it's even less successful than before so I don't know.

Nintendo delete levels? That's a bit discouraging - nobody plays your level, which is disappointing enough... but then Ninty throw salt into the wound by deleting it? Ouch.
