Topic: Nintendo's Quality Still Means Something

I'm beginning to realize that people need to stop hounding Nintendo and support them for doing another thing right: holding themselves to very high standards.

Let's face it, if you compare the number of Nintendo developed/published games requiring post-release patches or fixes to everyone else in the industry, it makes everyone else look like amateurs.

People complain about Nintendo's slow releases, and how they delay games or hold them back... But in terms of first-party releases, they release on-par, if not sometimes more, than any other console. To top it off, their games come out already polished, with barely any issues, because they take this extra time that no one else in the industry dares to take.

I think people are so eager to push Nintendo out without realizing they are doing more things right than wrong.

I totally agree. Nintendo's quality cannot be questioned or doubted. I so far never encountered a bug in their games that ruined them.

Making promise is easy. The hard part is keeping it.

I agree that their first party releases are always of high quality. That's one of the reasons I've always been drawn to Nintendo software and hardware. I wouldn't want them to rush anything.

And that's why it would be nice for them to court more third party developers so that Nintendo /wouldn't/ feel the pressure of releasing games faster to fill in the gaps.

Not only do you have to hand it to them for quality software, but for quality hardware as well. Keep it up, Nintendo!

Nintendo makes some of the best games in the Industry but the main problem is that consoles are an investment and most people don't feel comfortable paying upward $300 for a system that has a Narrow palate of games.

You also ignore the fact that most games that have post release patches usually are mutliplayer games that are supported for some time. I wouldn
't say Nintendo makes other developers look like Amateurs either,

I'd agree that Nintendo's QA is unparalled in the Industry.

I still find it hard to believe that a big and beautiful HD game like Super Mario 3D World is less than 2GB in size.

Also, remember how long Chronicles of Mystara was delayed, because of the bugs that plagued the other versions. Nintendo kept adamant in having a working game, even if it took months.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

Unlike most of the other big companies where their games have Day 1 patches followed by almost weekly patches for months

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Thank you for saying. I'm very VERY loyal to Nintendo for this reason. That and they actually have values that they stick to.

Agreed. Also, they tend to have complete games, with DLC being just added stages or missions. No necessary moolah to unlock characters or levels.

Another game that needed a patch was Skyward Sword. But that was taken care of seamlessly.

Yes because we all know amateurs like Eidos Studios Montreal,Ubisoft Montpellier,Criterion Games etc, have all released very low standard games on the Wii U. Who are thay kidding? not us Nintendo fans thats for sure.

I agree, Nintendo's consistency in quality is one of the main reasons I'm a fan, but with only 3-4 major releases a year it's starting to get a bit dull as a Wii U owner. I enjoy a variety of games, and currently it's pretty much either enjoy the current Nintendo offering or... wait about six months for another one to hit. I'm burnt out on 2D platforming at the moment so DK doesn't really apeal to me, which leaves me with very few options (unless I wanna play NES games). Pretty much every other console on the market is seeing MAJOR titles hit this month - Dark Souls 2, Titanfall, Infamous: Second Son, South Park: Stick of Truth, Final Fantasy X HD, Metal Gear Solid V... While we are getting titles that look like bargain bin mobile games (Block Drop U? come on...). I love Nintendo, but my Wii U has been gathering dust while my PS3 is about to get a lot of action over the next couple months. That "extra time" you mentioned it takes for Nintendo to release their games is going to make them irrelevant if they are not careful.

Exactly the reason why I've had a Nintendo machine with me since 6. But honestly, the wait is just too damn torturing.....

Nintendo fan since 6 years of age.

Nintendo makes good stuff in general. That's why I like them. Everything I've bought from them over the years still works. If they need to patch a game, they address it as soon as possible.
It's not like some games where you have to have day one patches or have to constantly update to version 4.06.

But it's also their Achilles heel. They do about a handful of big releases a year out of their in-house dev teams... and it's not enough sometimes. They either need to expand or strike more deals with third parties. Third parties probably don't like competing with Nintendo's A-listers either.

Magikarp is the new meta.

The fact that you're saying that Nintendo is still good because their games aren't buggy is indicative of how low the industry's standards have fallen.

Not really. The game industry has always had a ton of buggy games it was just found it the Western dominated PC market. What your seeing now is just a ton of PC developers who were used to patching games and keeping content up now working on consoles with resouces stretched the limit.
