I guess I wanted to see if anyone knew info on a game that information is pretty thin on. Anyone remember Soul Blazer? I always felt that game was simple but the story felt great and you could play it a million times and it was always a great feeling. Anyone know if it had regional sequels or anything? I wish we could get a re-imagining of it.
As of now Soul Blazer has never been released not sure why. However there were two unofficial sequels, I say unofficial cause they weren't marketed as sequels but the have very similar game play, artistic styles and reference each other.
The first one Illusion of Gaia came out in all regions, NA, Europe, Japan, and Australia, although in Europe it know as Illusion of Time.
The second sequel Terranigma only was released in Japan and Europe however you can get a repro cartridge of it via various online retro gameing sites for an NA copy.
If you enjoyed Soul Blazer then the other two are must plays as they are on of the best trilogies on the SNES.
Another game on the original PlayStation called Granstream Saga is considered a spiritual seccesor to the the SNES games since alot of the same people worked on that game that did the 3 SNES games.
@Tasuki Illusion of Gaia would've probably been called SoulBlazer: Illusion of Gaia if Enix had published it themselves. As we can see by a prototype localization ROM in existence.
(though if Enix had published it, the translation quality would've been worse. I know mistakes in the proto are because it's a beta, but even in finished and released Enix SNES translations, I recall the translation quality dipping by the end. )
@Krull It's nothing too special, but it's a decent Action RPG/ Zelda-like game. I wouldn't recommend buying one of the pricey physical copies (it's good, but not what I'd call a must-play by any means) but it is on the PSN's classics lineup for PS3/Vita.
I didn't like Breath of the Wild, have I mentioned it yet today?
