I am going to get a Gameboy sometime, and I've been looking into both of them, though I can't seem to find a solid compare video or thread. So, what do you like better? Gameboy Color vs Gameboy pocket? Explain why, and don't say GBA.

Honestly the GBA is the best one. You are able to play every gameboy game on it.

I don't want the cartridge sticking out on the GBA. I'm not getting a GBA, I'm either getting a GBC or GBP. I like to play games on their original hardware.

Game Boy Color, the Pocket was much like the original, but smaller- still in black and white (instead of black and green)

The game boy color on the other hand is a nice size, really easy to find online at a cheap price, and allows the play of Game Boy Color Games (like Pokemon Crystal)

The Gameboy pocket uses AAA batteries, while the Gameboy color uses AA. That might be an issue...

Color only because you have a wider selection of games and for the color palette swaps on original GB games.

This. Has anybody compared the battery life?
I would guess the Color has lower battery life (though I had awhile ago bought an official GBP AC adapter, which the GBC uses as well, so it would not matter as much).

I have both; and both are great machines but it really depends on what you want. The Color hosts the largest library of games out of any of the Original Gameboy Line. The Color is small, very compact, it has a very clear screen (so long as you have light ) and quite honestly has an incredible library of games. The Pocket however, has a much, much bigger screen than the Color, which is really the only flaw I can think of on the Color!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Other than the large screen, the library on just the B&W Gameboys is pretty great too. Really I'd say it comes down to, what games are you going to be playing most???? Gray Carts (both), Black Carts/Pokemon RPGs (other than Crystal) (Both) or Color Only. Either way they are both fantastic and hope you'll enjoy which one you get @Prime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@HandheldGuru97 I'm going to primarily play Gray Carts (Gameboy Games). It would be good to have the color feature though, thanks.

AA batteries have more capacity then AAA batteries. According to Wikipedia, the Gameboy Color has 30+ hours of gameplay, while the Gameboy Pocket only has 10 hours.

I never owned a Game Boy Pocket, went from the original brick (well, a green one I got after someone took my original gray) to a Color.

Since you don't want floppy carts hanging out, the only choice is the GBC as the other is a waste of cash really. The original was cool for what it was and even just how it always will be plus the battery life was very high. Yet both it and the GBP have horrible blur with the garbage refresh rate on the screen so it's annoying to play on certain games as it just streaks. The GBC though has a sharp image with whatever it does, the only annoyance really is you need to dial in a color combo when it boots to get normal black and white shades on the old games. The plus is as I said it's sharp, it does do the GBC exclusives, and it also has hard coded into it dozens of preset colors for old games that make them look great. If you want it, there are aftermarket LEDs you can install to backlight it like a GBA SP Brighter/DS too.
