This is a page on Axiom Verge 2 like ones of other games. No arguing. Now that this game is out, are you planning on getting it? Do you like the game? Do you like it or the original better?
I will definitely be getting this one! Loved the original! I hope the final boss is a little less anticlimactic if you know what i mean. I heard something about optional bosses though so i'm not so keen on that idea. The environments in the sequel honestly look a little dull compared to the creepy style of original. I'll wait until i've finished before i judge.
"Freedom is the right of all sentient beings" Optimus Prime
I played a couple of hours yesterday and I feel I will not like it as much as the original as the combat it was way more fun and I never feel in control of the damage I take. But contrary to the opinion of many I like the enviroments so far.
Played about two hours of it so far. Seems alright but it did freeze up on me once and i had to reset. It was while attempting to hack a boss. The music is pretty good. One area kinda had an Arabian tune. Still think the first game had a better look. This one very different visually.

The game is growing on me (altough still prefer the combat in the OG), exploring the map is fairly quick with all the upgrades you get along the way and lots and lots of shortcuts.
Still feel strange that I read on reviews that a first playtrough takes around 15h when I am at 49% of the map explored at the 5h mark (and I am not expecting to go beyond 70-80% on a normal run)
The first one was getting praise all over the place but the sequel it seems like nobody cares. It's a pretty solid game so far. I wonder why there's no one hardly talking about it.

@Zeldafan79 kinda wondering the same myself. Love it so far, about 2.5 hours in. My only issue is the melee combat, though. Everything else has been great though( power ups, music, world, etc).
On a separate note I ended up accidentally passing up the water boss. I didn't even think it was a boss since it was the first major enemy I saw and there was no indication it was a boss. However, I can't seem to damage it with what I have available thus far, so maybe I fight it down the road?
I did however beat the boss in the mountains though. He wasn't too bad, fairly simple honestly.
Are you talking about the giant snake thing? I'm up to that point now. I can't figure out what I'm supposed to do to hurt it. I guess I'll just worry about it later.

@Zeldafan79@NintendoByNature that boss is kind of a puzzle (and I believe indeed you cannot beat it until later) however as all bosses it is not mandatory as it just gives you 2 points for upgrades
I've beaten the game 100% and enjoyed it thoroughly, I ended up spending a lot of time trying to track down the last item in a given area as it's a surprisingly large map that is tricky to retrace your steps at times.
It took me about 8.5 hours to beat the game around 92%, and then 10 hours to clean up the last remaining few items. The puzzle solving is not as complex this time around, compared to the password solving requirements of the first game, but you still need to glean environmental clues to solve similar puzzles.
I would say that making the bosses optional is somewhat to the game's detriment, not that you can avoid them so much as they're easily avoidable,
This is something that'll be divisive and the subject of discussion for quite some time, but interestingly this game is best approached by spending most of your time avoiding combat entirely. Early on you aren't equipped to face enemies directly unless you are very proficient at this sort of combat, but where most of them need to detect your presence and have predictable patterns or can be hacked at range, it's simply better to run past them or disable them most of the time.
It's refreshing because it takes a different approach to handling threats and surviving them, but it is made considerably easier due to the generous save point system, and later on a fast travel system that also gives you a full heal, and up to four "Power Matrix" items that let you store and consume a healing item.
That said, the accessibility options have a very interesting option to changing the scaling of enemy and player damage output, to the point you can make it impossible to harm enemies, or be harmed by enemies. This is more than about making a player nigh-invincible, it gives player control over difficulty level and provides a means of doing a strictly pacifist run. Though I wonder how it manages damage dealt by enemies brought under allegiance or self-detonation, or dealt to enemies via forced malfunction, it's not something I've checked.
Okay question about the optional bosses. Does this include the final boss too? One thing about the original I didn't like was the rather anticlimactic end Boss.
"Freedom is the right of all sentient beings" Optimus Prime
I loved the first game, so I've been excited for this one for a while, especially since Happ promised a more Zelda-like experience.
I'm enjoying it so far, and I love that he has approached this one in a different way, with the art direction (dropping the black outlines of characters, etc.), story & combat, but kept that eerie mood, great exploration & progression and even some signature sound effects.

Hit My first real brick wall in the game. I have 2 markers indicating where I need to go next, and I've spent well over 2 hours trying to get to either of them to no avail. I started back tracking to older areas since I have some newer upgrades. The worst feeling is breaking through to a new area and only getting a health node or point upgrade urn lol. Sure they're helpful, but not when you're looking for some new power ups to potentially get to the next area.
I ended up beating the game tonight, and rather abruptly. I wasn't expecting it to end when it did. Loved the game honestly, but the ending felt a little anti-climactic. Still a rock solid experience, but alot easier than the 1st game. I guess if you want to check out the series, start with 2 as it's a little more user friendly.
