Topic: Transfer memory card games to new switch

Hi, i was just wondering if anyone may be able to help. I currently have a nintendo switch and have just bought a new oled switch. I have managed to send my user profile over to the new switch. However I have 1 512gb card full of games and also a 200gb and 128gb cards full as well. How do I make the new oled switch accept the memory cards that are full of games, or am I going to have to download 840gb worth of games again. When I put the memory cards into the oled switch it says this card has already been used in another switch, and doesn't read any games. As I'm sure you can understand I really don't want to have to download them all again, and I don't think my isp will be to happy with me for having downloads going 24-7 for weeks. So my question is how do make the new oled switch read the memory cards with games on from my old switch.

@DAB1 It seems the Switch won't allow SD card games to be transferred. I just went this myself a couple days ago. You have to format the card with the new console. I had 270 go on my 400gb card.

Even if you copy/backup the Nintendo folder to pc so you can paste it back onto the card after you formatting the card to the oled, the Switch will just want to reformat the card again. (That process worked on 3ds, but Nintendo doesn't seem to be allowing it with the Switch, possibly to thwart hacking/pirating?)

However, you can use that process to bring your microSD's card screenshots & video clips to the new oled. Copy the Album folder to PC. Format the card to the new oled. Then paste the Album folder back into the Nintendo folder on the card.

In eshop, on the re-download page, you can go down the list clicking all the game's you want to re-download. You can leave the Switch in sleep mode for them to download. Do it sooner rather than later, because Christmas day, and after, servers are expected to be bogged down with new Switch owners & new game downloads. (You may know this already. I just mention it in case any newbs don't know. Games download just as fast in sleep mode)

I had a bad feeling that was going to be the answers, obviously really hoping it wasn't.
It's silly really, I'm sure nintendo could program the switch so you didn't have to delete all your games when you upgrade your console. To be honest I have been considering sending my new oled back to the shop and keeping my old one, as all this downloading is going to take forever, and I don't know if I can be bothered.
Like I say I'm sure nintendo could add the functionality without opening the system to hackers.

840gb of games on the memory cards and 31gb on internal storage is going to take a looooooooooong time to re-download. Lol

The bigger the files and more you loaded to the card the longer migration takes doing a 400gb wasn't fund nor easy.
