@Magician
All the word was is that Outrage wasn't a game for Switch, it was a MP game and that got canceled. The person reporting this info just said they haven't heard anything one way or the other about a Switch focused release in the last few months, and is currently TBD.

Which, if Outrage wasn't for Switch, it does seem to indicate a game is less likely. On the other hand, RE Engine was brought over and we know they wanted to bring over RE7 before, and they've ported 7 games in the series to date. So I struggle to believe, especially after the success of Rise, they'd be like nah, we won't bother with any Switch focused version.

But you never know. At least we have a crap load of RE games on Switch already that look good graphically and offer gyro. So it's not like the series isn't well represented already (though I am looking forward to what else Capcom concocts on the RE Engine for Switch- surely they didn't spend 4 years porting it to never use it again- for a company that actively wanted to bring RE Engine based RE games to Switch, that would be completely illogical).

I’m a big RE fan and I don’t have any RE games on my Switch. I should really change that.

The PSVR is the best VR system on the market today.

Yea, we need some newer RE on switch, whether it's revelations 3, or 7, 8, or the newer remakes. I'll take anything RE. Revelations were both bangers, and 4, 5, and 6 were rock solid( 4 being the best). Excited to see if any switch RE exclusive comes to fruition though

@NintendoByNature
The best part of not getting into gaming until Wii U and 3DS, is that I never played all those PS3/360 games. And even despite owning a PS4 and buying a lot of games, I didn't play most of them.

So all the RE games on Switch are basically new for me. Aside from Revelations I've never sunk more than a few hours in each entry.

If a new one released for Switch I'd be all over it. But if not, I think Revelations 2 and RE5 will do the job just fine. And, having been 10 yrs since I beat Revelations, may as well play that again too. Plus Steam Deck will carry the newer entries with Gyro (would rather play on the smaller, more lightweight, ergonomic OLED Switch, but until Switch 2 releases and those games get ported, the Deck will be a perfectly fine substitute).

You're the second person to recommend RE6 recently. Good for single player too?

@JaxonH I got into RE on the cube. The original is what got me into the series. Ended up playing zero and 4 on the cube too, but never got far. It wasn't until switch that I beat zero and 4, plus 5. I did play 2 campaigns in 6, and it's decent action. Definitely worth some hours on it. But I never finished all campaigns.

Yeah the single player is good, the AI partner doesn’t get in the way.

Oops I didn't answer the entire question @JaxonH.. he's right though, single player is just fine.

I really liked Resident Evil Revelations. That was the game that introduced me to gyro and set me on a life altering journey. Just couldn't aim properly on 3DS without it. But with it, I was doing great. Like wow, this works really well, actually!

I'm so glad RE5, RE6 and RE Rev2 all offer gyro as well. But what really impresses me with the Revelations games on Switch is the reloading gesture mechanic. It's so good. Playing those games with split joycon is unlike anything else I've experienced, even within the RE series. It cannot be overstated how much split joycon with HD Rumble, Gyro aiming and gesture reloading adds to the experience.

Gosh dang. I gotta play RE5 now. I'm getting super amped up about it.

@JaxonH RE5 is probably the cheesiest of all the RE games, and that's saying something. Maybe Code Veronica is cheesier. It pretty much forgoes all the horror elements in favour of over the top action, but I actually still enjoy it. It's way better than RE6 that's for sure.

I started the Resident Evil One Remake today. This'll be my first playthrough of it and I can already tell it's going to be one of the scarier entries. The camera angles alone can catch me off guard and make me nervous.

@Losermagnet its spooky for sure. It was my fave on the cube since it was my first. But I just can't get over the camera and Controls anymore. It's a great game, don't get me wrong. But I'd rather play the newer entries. It want my RE games to be scary bc of the enemies and environment, not because I can't see where I'm shooting lol

Losermagnet

@NintendoByNature yeah I'm feeling a bit of that myself. There was a part where I went from one room to the next and after the door opening scene - BAM the camera was pointed directly at Chris and I cant see what's in front of me. The controls took me a little while to get used to too. It's all part of the game's "charm", but it was a rough first half hour trying to acclimate to it. To be honest, I really wanted to play Resi 5. But I haven't owned a copy in years so I went with the remake instead 😂

@Losermagnet you'll probably have a good time honestly. If anything, I'm sure RE5 will be on sale for 12 bucks in 2 weeks anyway.

Don’t forget to pick up the item that’s outside the entrance doors of the mansion. It’s easy to overlook it.

@NintendoByNature I do love a good survival horror game. Limited items and ammo, feeling like you're exploring an actual place, and cool monsters. Thing is - I hate being scared lol. Resident Evil is usually just the right amount for me. RE VII was borderline. Silent Hill is too much lol (even though I really like parts of the first 4 games).

@Eel I opened the door and was attacked by dogs (who's side are you on? 😉 jk). When I tried again Chris said "nope". Do I need to check later?

I was expecting dogs, since I'm old enough to remember the cutscene you got for trying to open the door in the original. I was not expecting a dog to make it into the mansion though. That got a 3.5 out of 10 on the "Losermagnet Panic Meter".

@Losermagnet hahaha I’m sorry, just wanted you to see the jump scare 😅

Now if you want an actual item that is easy to miss, perhaps check Kenneth’s corpse in the hallway where you found your first zombie.

Btw, do you know about crimson head zombies? Completely unrelated to Kenneth, but those make it to an 8/10 on my panic meter whenever they appear.

@Eel I know vaguely of the crimson heads. The idea is that, if I don't behead or burn zombie bodies, they'll come back and be super aggressive? I've been vigilant so far in burning corpses. Haven't gotten em all but if I notice I pass them a couple times while travelling I reckon I better cook 'em. I tried to burn one body and it jumped right up and chased me. 5/10.

Edit - evidently that zombie was a Crimson Head, as I got a trophy saying as much.

Just for edification, a 1 would be something like a standard zombie and a 10 would be the room with Eileen's giant twitchy head in Silent Hill 4.

@Losermagnet some of them are completely unavoidable unfortunately, but yes, burning as many as you can is the best course of action.

Once they wake up, they have the tendency to wait right beside doors. Which is just perfect.

@Losermagnet silent hill is wayyyy out of my league. I remember trying it when I was like 11 or 12 on ps1 and I still feel destroyed from it lol. I think I only played like an hour and returned it back to the rental store haha
